Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

1000 replies

Reastie · 29/11/2025 20:25

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

My cheesy advent calendar (and other trickle treats) is currently beginning its 3rd day at the Glasgow RM sorting centre. When I emailed Chuckling Cheese I got a long story about how the cheese will be fine. No apology, no offer to chase it up just the info that they have tested the cheeses being out of the fridge for days… it was posted on Monday and I had a timed delivery for Tuesday which has since disappeared from the tracking!

I've given up on Fahlo bracelet ever arriving. Every year I see people on this thread chat about how much their kids love them and don't give in. This year I thought it'll be a nice stocking filler for DD just go for it, first order was never dispatched at all, second was apparently sent 5 days ago and royal mail still says 'we're expecting it'.
Wouldn't recommend buying from them. It's just a little novelty but still annoying especially when they're so spammy with advertising.
Also have a look fantastic order that's been stuck at processing for 6 days. I think this is the universe telling me to stop being sucked in by black Friday offers!

Burnnoticed · 05/12/2025 09:42

I did get my fahlo order, it was a plush and is very cute - took quite a while to come

nothingtoseehereatall · 05/12/2025 09:45

Horrible out of date with the threads! Bloody work getting in the way of bargain hunting, it's so selfish of them.

DH went to Waitrose last night (middle class wanker alert) and came back with four extra advent calendars - Lindt ones - £2 each. Probably entirely dependent on area/ stock but just in case anyone is passing one...

zacsGranny · 05/12/2025 10:25

RM are still saying they are expecting my Fahlo bracelets. Been saying that since Wednesday.
But I've had a dispatch email from Jo & Seph

MrsMAFs · 05/12/2025 11:44

my Fahlo order arrived twice. One of the orders was incorrect so i suspect that's why. DD will enjoy the tracking element but the bracelets are huge. Will be way too big for my 6 year old. As a PP said will also have to open each card to check which one matched which bracelet. Real shame they don't come in a pouch or something?

For info i ordered a week ago today.

Can anyone help with an idea for my dd please? She is early 30s, she likes quality, a little quirky, not make up or perfume or bath stuff. I've bought all of the things she asked for but would like to get her a surprise but she's not easy to buy for and I am nothing like her so what I would like she'd think I was mad. Around £30 if you can please?

nothingtoseehereatall · 05/12/2025 11:50

@hiredandsqueak What sort of thing has she asked for? (Just might help to get a general sense of her vibe to help with recommendations)

hiredandsqueak · 05/12/2025 11:58

A lamp, moisturiser she uses, Clinique Happy, Books, Elemis bath milk and a couple of things that I have bought from her list and can't remember and can't find the message or email she sent.

How about a nice pair of earring, something classic looking (although consider if she wears studs or dangly ones). My parents have previously bought me lovely jewelry and it's always been a well received surprise at Christmas (I'm 43 and still regularly wear the Onyx and Mexican Silver earrings they got me when I was 14).

I have a "quirky" awesome too @hiredandsqueak

Sooo much out there if you google, e.g. if she's into her kitchen/cooking Ototo is fab.

Oh or if she fancies some adult colouring you could get her a small set of Ohuhu starter pens and a colouring book.

How about cashmere hand warmers (turtle doves ones or similar?). A houseplant? An Owala drinks bottle? An Alessi corkscrew? A recipe book, the Dishoom one looks lovely for curries.

Wowsersbrowsers · 05/12/2025 12:18

@hiredandsqueak she's a similar age to me and something that's gone down really well has been a box of posh macaroons or chocolates from a local maker. I've also put the Clinique black honey almost lipstick on my list, some gemjar cosy socks, and thick soft gloves. The other option if you wanted to push the budget is a dualit kettle. They are a genuine joy to use and mean she'll think of you every time she makes a cuppa.

hiredandsqueak · 05/12/2025 12:23

All great suggestions BUT she doesn't have her ears pierced and the only jewellery she wears is specific pieces I have been asked to buy. No interest in food or cooking, tiny hands and feet but I have bought her some White Stuff socks, doesn't drink, arty so has lots of supplies, crafty and just thinned them out and given surplus to dd2. She is lovely but not easy to buy for.

Ooh the kettle might be an option. The love of a cuppa is the one thing we share. I joke that somebody sent me my sister's daughter as she really is nothing like me. Maybe I could ask my sister too?

Could you do pottery painting together and paint mugs?

We've done that previously. She painted a beautiful biscuit barrel and we laughed at the monstrosity I produced. We really are chalk and cheese.

Those who have received their Fahlo, could you tell me what size the cards are? Just want to know if they will fit in the gift bags I have. Thanks Xmas Smile

Yes i cant imagine it would stay on DD's wrists but obviously wont know until we try. Could make a nice anklet i suppose. They're rather chunky.

Would she like a treatment - an organic facial ? I don’t drink but my sister bought me a really pretty gin glass and some lovely non alcoholic punch and schloer type drinks from M&S one year and it was really nice.
