Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

@N96 Depending on your budget, most good chocolatiers do hot choc flakes but I have liked Whittards ones in the past (and they're usually a bit kinder on the budget than specialist chocolatiers).

Has anybody seen a nice hot chocolate mug with a wide brim? It’s for 18yo ds, I’m doing a little hamper (I’ve gone for the m and s chocolate flakes I think), but I’m struggling to find a suitable mug.

Does anyone have any ideas for a Secret Santa please? Budget is £10 and I've got my boss, who is an early 60s man. Used to be into cycling, enjoys a quiz, is a great guy. No idea what to get him though...

Stelmosfire1 · 04/12/2025 18:21

For those buying hot chocolate who have a Sostene Green near by I recommend these, picked them up today and they are delicious! Would be lovely in a hot chocolate hamper, I think they were £2.95

Anyone know where I can buy Pokémon cards, or am I screwed?

There were some in Sainsbury's and Asda recently.

Can anyone help … looking for a transparent (ideally Perspex or string but nice plastic as she’s clumsy!) tea pot for tea bags that will hold about 2/3 cups for DD 17? Really struggling for her this year (all she wants is Spotify for a year and a tonne of lip balms 😳) but as she’s tea obsessed as has A Levels exams looming this could be a nice gift with some nice tea bags and fancy biscuits for our little home bird ☺️

Doesn’t Have to be mega spendy.

If you don’t find anything could you get some nice tea bags and one of those little trays to keep bags on when you take them out of the mug and a decent travel mug so it stays warm ? We have Contigo ones that are regular under a tenner ? And maybe a nice tin or tub for biscuits?

Dinosweetpea · 04/12/2025 18:49

Can anyone remember the name of the horse riding socks company mentioned a few threads back?!

My husband loves coffee and last year for his secret Santa got a nice mug with something relevant to him on and coffee bags, and a small packet of nice biscuits - if that’s any help

@bizzey - Day Four was a mini vintage cheddar truckle so I have measured it. I wasn’t far off with my guess: 2” by 1/2”. I cut it as thin as possible and it got onto two large crackers with a bit left over for DH to try. It was very nice with the rest of the chutney.

I didn’t like Day One’s offering, so this was a nice surprise!

In the nicest way, could we please not post advent calendar spoilers, for those who haven't received / opened them yet? I think there are other threads for those opening calendars and sharing them. Thanks!

Sasha07 · 04/12/2025 18:56

@Dinosweetpea I know I had a look at it when it was mentioned, just checked in my History. My Horse Box is the only thing I found, see if that looks familiar My Horse Box Clearance

Realising I spend way too much time on this thread, I'm not even into horses but still had a virtual mooch 🙈

Also caved on the Hotel Chocolat advent calendar for me 🐑. Disappointed that it's not coming for a whole week whether I got it delivered to store or home. Not due till next Thurs! Oh well, I'll just have to open two doors a day until I've caught up

Donsyb · 04/12/2025 19:10

Advent calendars on offer in Waitrose - I got a Lindt one for £2.12

murrayperahia · 04/12/2025 19:12

Thanks so much for the HC advent calendar deal.Found a photo of the contents on qvc site and they look perfect for stocking fillers and also advent treats for me.

I posted before about pyjamas for DS (13) he suffers terribly with anxiety. When asked he says there’s nothing he wants for Christmas as he doesn’t really leave the house anymore. He asked if the money people would normally spend on him could go towards extra presents for his siblings.

These are the pyjamas he loves, I’m trying to find something similar.

These pyjamas look a similar to pyjamas I used to buy ds3 (also autistic with anxiety and sensory issues) from Vertbaudet

I haven’t fully caught up today so apologies if it’s already been posted. I just saw that the DegustaBox Advent Calendar is reduced by £15 to £24.99 now.

I haven’t made up my mind whether to buy it or not yet!

I did an image search and found the m&s listing on their Turkey site which says they are soft velvet fabric. Obviously not in stock but the details might help. I'll add a screenshot.

Sorry?

The PP was HELPING another poster out who is going to use the cheese for a Xmas cheese-board rather than as a calendar, and would like to know sizes etc.

Honestly. It's an advent calendar & this is the 4th of December. Have a mince pie & chill!

Hereslookinatyoukid · 04/12/2025 19:20

I know various people have had problems with Degustabox, but I’ve taken a risk. They are offering for £25, with the £15 off code ( ADV-15-OFF) and free delivery. I’ve paid with PayPal in case there are issues.

MrsMattSantos · 04/12/2025 19:28

not a bargain, just a whinge about resellers. I’ve already paid over RRP to get the jellycat DD really wants for Christmas, but that wasn’t too bad. Now her birthday is in January and she wanted a pair of stranger things converse.
I was online at 9am when they went on sale, put them in my basket, but couldn’t check out. They sold out in 4 minutes or something crazy.
now the same shoes, which cost £85 are on sale for £289.
its madness
anyway, rant over

I’ve had lovey ones from Bodum before. It’s worth checking TK Maxx for that sort of thing
