Morning!

The gammon is on a Nectar price, so you'll need a Nectar card to get it. The only reason I know it's coming is I have one in my delivery for Saturday, so I know it'll be reduced when the Nectar prices refresh. This is either today or tomorrow (I think maybe tomorrow, but I can't remember if they start on Tuesday or Weds).

Office day for me today. I need to go to Lime St and collect my train tickets for a work trip to London at lunch time. I'm going down next Thursday and staying over. I've moved my Monday off to Friday so I can recover from my hangover in peace see a friend for lunch on Friday before coming home.

I’ve been listening to the first episode of the calm Christmas podcast. I highly recommend it, she was talking about doing something this week to make December easier.

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/11/2025 19:36

I caught the last 30 minutes or so of The Holiday last night. I have cottage and Jude Law envy. I did watch the whole movie when it first came out but I think I've forgotten it as I watched the last scene thinking "this is far too early in a relationship to be introducing new partners to your children!" 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/11/2025 20:34

I watched "The Holiday" last year , not one I'd revisit TBH.

Just watched "See How They Run" based on The Mousetrap . Not a Christmas film though , they'll start in December -got a list ready Xmas Grin

It has turned cold Xmas Shock , ice on the car this morning .

Today is definitely GO GO GO for the gammon. It was on the website as reduced yesterday (I think because deliveries are at least the day after).

Bloody cold here today. Dry and windy though, so we've two loads of washing outside!

Non stop bugs in the house. Ugh.

Having a big clear up to be ready to get decorations up at the end of the month.

Highly recommend wrapping items as you get them. Will save the Christmas Eve scramble and DC can’t sneak a peek at them.

Glennponder · 19/11/2025 10:25

Wrapping more gifts today...last ones honest

Glennponder · 19/11/2025 12:53

(Although I do leave wrapping the stocking gifts until nearer Xmas eve...)

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/11/2025 20:33

I have treated myself to these today as I had a 20% off flowers Sparks offer. They are hopefully being delivered on 23rd December. I say hopefully as I'm still smarting from M&S cancelling my Clementine gin order about 5 years ago 😂

Oh, they are pretty @TheWoollybacksWife

Glennponder · 19/11/2025 20:38

I've just ordered more sellotape and gift bags 😬🫣

Shit. Gin / Prosecco-Gate was hideous. Wankers!

I'm mostly over it now, Fluffy. <twitch>

I usually get some flowers for a Christmas table setting and I'm happy that I'll have 6 bud vases to keep afterwards.

I also picked up a £1.50 tube of Pringles from the local shop when I was in posting a parcel. I'm quite happy with today's prep.

FurForksSake · 19/11/2025 20:56

I’ve just ordered the flowers! They’ll look so pretty on the table or dotted around and the vases will be reusable for years to come!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2025 21:03

I've ordered them too! 🐑 Xmas Grin

Indeed it does Xmas Grin

Or an "Enabler"

Did you buy them too?!

I've gone for the risky option and have delivery on Christmas Eve! 😬 We're not in the day before as it's order collection day. As well as DH's birthday. So we collect cheese and go to the pub next door!

Had a busy day yesterday and missed this so now have FOMO on the flowers. Also no gammon but off to do a Sainsbos shop at some point so hope to resolve that.

My sparks is crap I only ever seem to get a £1 off a pack of sausages or something.

Magnoliasunrise · 20/11/2025 07:02

PS On the Christmas advert front - I really like the M&S one but only for Dawn French singing "driving home for Christmas" then snarling "Come oooooooonnnnnn" and then sliding over the car on her arse. Coz I drive like that around the festive period (apart from the arse sliding though).

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2025 08:11

Morning!

🥶🥶🥶🥶 today. The puddles and grass were frozen this morning in the woods.

The dog decided to move at a rate of knots, however, so I didn't get too cold!

I don't like the Dawn French advert. The Tesco ones are alright (showing the reality of Christmas!).

Morning. No flower order for me - works are ongoing and at this rate there is a chance we won’t have a usable dining area (or table) at Christmas Xmas Shock
Im currently making tentative plans on how best to rearrange the living room to make space for decs and it’s not looking promising tbh.

On the plus side, I have booked my 2 random days off work. 1 is to do last minute gift collections/some in person shopping in town/chase up any straggling orders and 1 is to hopefully wrap some presents, relax and take a small break in amongst the busyness and stress of it all.

Magnoliasunrise · 20/11/2025 18:49

The £10 2.3kg gammon is now on offer in sainsbos - just got one!!

FurForksSake · 20/11/2025 18:51

What use by date is on the non hypothetical gammon? I imagine it’s a week or two?
