I haven't done much in the way of going ut to the Real Shops . I did go to Next but ended up having to order Click&Collect as they didn't have what I needed.

I'm going to brave Costco today , better on a weekday than a Sat/Sun.

Magnoliasunrise · 07/11/2025 07:06

Morning!

Ooooh let us know if Costco has the Christmas stuff in, I used to go with my friend yonks ago and we'd always buy something nuts like a big light up reindeer etc.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2025 07:07

No snowman toilet roll here - I’m the poster whose niece was beyond upset at the idea of wiping her bum on the snowman so I haven’t bothered with it for the last year or so

That's one of the Official Starts of Christmas Meeces

Whamageddon .
Seeing the first decorated tree
Wipe yer bum on The Snowman (and his pesky little SnowDog)

Xmas Grin

They get their Christmas stock ( or "Holidays" as it's an American company) in mid Sept !
I might have missed the boat with some things but I'm sure they'll have plenty .

A Love Actually / Die Hard double bill is good fun as there's comeuppance for Alan Rickman! 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve seen trailers for a new Michelle pfeiffer Christmas film on prime. That’s going on my list of things to watch! I think it’s going to be on at the start of December. It’s about a mum that loses her shit. 😆

FFS, I might look that film up. I re-watched Big Red last weekend, which was last year's Prime offering, with The Rock.

I have to be up at 7 tomorrow as it's haircuts day, so I need to get the dog walked before getting across town, via 40 sets of temp lights (which pop up like whack a mole), on the way!

Morning!

Loved Big Red last year, massive fan of The Rock in our house. Also love Christmas films with mums losing their shit - always makes me feel better.

I'm off to the Spirit of Christmas today so I'll be feeling very jingle belly after today.

Iocanepowder · 08/11/2025 07:19

Also haircuts day here! 8.15 start!

Joining this thread as i have done absolutely fuck all for xmas and need to get a move on.

Doesn’t help that my youngest still has a birthday to go, and my 5 year old strangely isn’t bothered about presents!

Big present i’m looking at for him is his first bike but he is a weird size and needs a lightweight one.

First xmas in 3 years i won’t be recovering from surgery, so hoping it’s a good one!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2025 07:26

@Iocanepowder, welcome!

Look at second hand Frog / Isla bikes. Or there's also a rental scheme, which is great for when they grow!

Thanks :) He needs an 18 inch so bit less common to find. I’ve found a Squish one that has £50 off so i’m tempted. But then plus the cost of stablisers etc 😭.

I’m also doing stockings for the first time this year. I never had them as a kid.

I’m on a weekend break with DH and LO and enjoying some peace and a cuppa as LO had a late night so isn’t awake yet 😮

A few days ago I wasn’t Bad Moms Christmas (I think that’s what it’s called). Bit random and OTT but did the job.

locane I did my first ever stocking last year too. Quite enjoyed finding silly things for it (LO was almost 3 and his included brightly coloured plasters, bubble wand, yoyo, toothbrush and a superhero mask along with a clementine and chocolate coins).

You're better not doing stabilisers. Start with a balance bike and then move up to a pedal bike, but stabilisers aren't as helpful as you'd think!

We watched "Red One" last December ( family trip to cinema and pizza , insisted DS came along . He was all HumBug Face Like Thunder but did actually enjoy it ). It was silly funny

The Red Notice is a good one ( and Ryan Reynolds which is a massive bonus )
The Rock does smouldering well. I saw a trailer in the cinema for the Jumanji remake ( I hate the original with passion) and said to DH "Why don't we watch it" . One of those 'remakes so much better' films .

But .............The Rock has been knocked off the "Muscly Funny ex Martials Arts/Fighter/Boxer/Wrestler turned film star" top spot by John Cena

Glennponder · 08/11/2025 09:57

My 2 are older and still love their stockings 😊🎄

FurForksSake · 08/11/2025 10:45

We love a bit of John Cena when he turns up in films.

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 08/11/2025 11:00

I'm at the gym this morning, but managed to order DS a personalized bottle of mayo from Heinz for his stocking from the comfort of the exercise bike.
I'm also putting together a Mr Fitzpatrick's order for my hot winter squashes. It's amazing what I can achieve when I don't want to think about how uncomfortable I am 😂

It's not just the muscles , it's the quirky smile that he does Xmas Wink

I'm watching a CCF on Prime. No clue what it's called, but a woman is trapped in northern England due to a diverted flight and apparently meets a bloke (no doubt a widower!) while she's there.
