Dance Christmas GIF by Pure Radio

I'm hoping to buy a real one this year, (since I cant afford Balsam Hill 😪) so that will go up on Dec 1st

But I bought a cheap pencil one for the hallway which I plan to put up tomorrow, November 1st 🎄🥰

When's yours going up? 👀

I usually do mine mid November! I got into the habit of doing it the last weekend in November as I host a Christmas event at home for friends the first Sunday of every December, so I’d want it done by then. But a couple of years ago my mum came to stay for the weekend mid November and we ended up doing it together which was nice. And ever since then we’ve continued. It’s nice doing jt with mum as it reminds me of my childhood, and I love having it up nice and early and making the most of it!

twobabiesandapup · 31/10/2025 13:46

Later than I would like it to 😭 my son was born early December 2023 and prior to this it was up religiously on the 1st December. Then after his birth it moved to the 3rd December so it didn’t interfere with his birthday, but this year we’re away from 1st-8th December so it’s not going up until the 9th 😢 absolute travesty and way too late for my liking!!

dementedpixie · 31/10/2025 13:46

Mid December probably

Popitpoo · 31/10/2025 13:46

December

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 31/10/2025 13:47

Around about Christmas time.

GrannyTeapot · 31/10/2025 13:47

Mine goes up the evening the schools break up for the holidays.

Dliplop · 31/10/2025 13:50

I think mid November this year if we use the artificial tree - later if we do a real tree. Some years I do November first but I need to put away halloween first

unleashthebook · 31/10/2025 13:54

A friend of mine did it last weekend, the nutter. Mine goes up the first week of December at some point.

VexedofVirginiaWater · 31/10/2025 13:56

I aim for late November, but usually it's early to mid December (depending on whether my Grinchy sons will get the stuff out of the loft for me). I don't like putting it up before Remembrance Day though.

CrimsonStoat · 31/10/2025 13:56

First Sunday in Advent, so 30 November.

I only do this cos I've got an Advent set of candles thing which needs lighting then, and I like to have the tree all done and dusted beforehand.

HardworkSendHelp · 31/10/2025 13:57

I have planned the 15th Nov due to being away the last week of Nov and then having to do my Mums on the first weekend of Dec. Will probably get my daughter to do her own bedroom decorations next week when she is home for reading week. That way when she comes home for Christmas her room will be Christmas ready🎉

Bobbybobbins · 31/10/2025 14:00

Mid December. I keep it up til twelfth night so wouldn’t want it up too early!

Buxusmortus · 31/10/2025 14:01

It's so wrong to put up any Christmas decorations in November. Can't believe people think the 1st November is fine, it's almost 2 months till Christmas! Why would you have a tree up for a sixth of the year? I don't think any decorations should go up before December.

I buy a real tree and make a wreath with real foliage which will go up in mid December and stay up till Twelfth Night. For me that's perfect, short enough so it's still exciting and long enough to enjoy.

MyAcornWood · 31/10/2025 14:04

I’m quite sad that we definitely won’t have any decorations up until at least the middle of December. Our home is being sold (after ten years living here 😭) and our ‘eviction’ date is the middle of December. DC1 is 4 and DC2 will be 9 months so I’m gutted it’s going to be such a crap stressy time rather than a festive wonderland from the 1st of December (or thereabouts) like I usually like!

FettleOfKish · 31/10/2025 14:04

Probably the last weekend of November. Early for us but DH is away for most of the following 3 weekends (brilliantly timed work training course Confused) and I’d rather not try and attempt it with a toddler under my feet!

edit because I’d originally written December. Clearly my subconscious brain is struggling with putting it up in November!

Mine come down on New Years Day, so a month from Advent start is perfect for me. I can't stand decorations still being up going into January.

TardisDweller · 31/10/2025 14:07

We always do it ready for the 1st of December as the advent things are packed away with everything else Christmas related. I like to go into the New Year fresh (as did my parents) so we've always taken it down on New Year's Eve.

Me and Santa are judging you lot that think that November 1st is too early!

That's so sad. What a horrible landlord to do that just before Christmas

BlueIndigoScarlet · 31/10/2025 14:10

The weekend before Christmas, and then it will stay up until 5th January

I really don’t see the point of putting it up in November and then whipping it down on Boxing Day because you are bored of it.

All things to their proper season.

AlmostDidIt · 31/10/2025 14:32

I usually put mine up the first week of December. My next door neighbour puts hers up on November 1st and takes it all down on Boxing Day because she’s sick of it. A couple of years ago she told me that she didn’t know how I could ‘still look at Christmas decorations’ because they were still up in January but she still put hers up in November.

tinyspiny · 31/10/2025 14:42

We always used to do Dec 1st but last year my husband put both up in the last week on November when I was away for a few days and I’m away this year on the 27/28 Nov so hopefully he will do the same. All we needed to do was rearrange a few baubles . I love my Christmas trees . We take ours down on NYE usually as I like it all done before my husband goes back to work but he’s off until the 5th so we will do it on the 3 rd or 4th .

EverythingIsComputer · 31/10/2025 15:07

I put my Christmas tree up at Christmas. Otherwise it’s an autumn/winter tree and it looks really odd if it would be up in November.
