Thread 8 - the one with all the pillow talk

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

not quite as good as last years. But still really good. Mine arrived yesterday. I told the teens everything but the tins was fair game.

im going to have to buy more shortbread this week. They’ve inhaled it all.

some of it is in packets which makes it more awkward for gifting, and it’s just a plain white box so you may want to buy a nicer one. You could get some fancy tea and coffee to go with it.

Amazing thank you 💕

Morning
Was looking at Dunelm as I’d heard there was a 10% discount day this Friday but I don’t see anything online about it.
While I was on I looked at pyjamas.
They have so many pyjamas at £115/£95 - they are ordinary brushed cotton pjs and from Dunelm - do you think this is an error or what’s that all about 🤷‍♀️

Londonmummy66 · 05/11/2025 10:18

@FilthyforFirth - forgot to mention yesterday but there is a great London marathon support group on Facebook run by an amazing guy called David Yim - good for tips and tricks, fundraising ideas and general cameraderie in the long cold slog to the 26.2.

crikeyisthatthetimez · 05/11/2025 10:39

Some good offers on myprotein with code APPY for fitness gifts including clothing up to 60%off

mummydoris2006 · 05/11/2025 11:15

@FilthyforFirth I am no runner but struggle with an illness that means I am in chronic pain and my legs are always the worst and most targeted area. Due to this I am always on the lookout for anything at all that may help even just a little bit.
The magnesium spray that a previous poster recommended was something I actually looked at in Home Bargains of all places this weekend. It was less than a fiver too so my be worth telling DH.
Also good luck for the marathon, my sister has ran it before and I am in awe of anyone that does it.

nothingtoseehereatall · 05/11/2025 11:41

If you are likely to be magnesium-deficient, it's far better to take it in oral (pill) form. There is very little actual evidence that the spray does anything - it's anecdotal at best (decent review here if you like a science paper) though then again, it's harmless and if it works as a placebo.. well, that's a decent outcome too! Same for magnesium salts in baths. TBH it's the hot bath that eases the aches and pains, not the little bit of salt. Or massage oils: it's the massage that helps, not the magic oils flogged on Tiktok etc.

If you want a good gift for a runner (or yourself!) the Bimble and Bolt advent calendar is lovely!

PumpkinSpicedTea · 05/11/2025 11:53

I am still swithering between the Deans black Friday hamper or choosing one of the other ones without the bites 😂🙈

I’ve heard fold things about these candles and they donate some profit to Scottish women’s aid.

These look lovely but still a bit out of my price range, are there any other candles people recommend?

@FallingIntoAutumn if all the packaging isn’t yet in your bin 🤣, could you tell me the shortest BBE date please?

28th jan for one of the packets of shortbread.
not only did they inhale it, they also left the packaging strewn around like the zoo creatures they are.

edited to add the others are feb/ may/ July

kitsch have 10 dollars off first order through referral codes, I’ve just ordered my teen girl a very pretty satin pillowcase for just over £5 delivered (it’s from US but still free) They have quite a lot of discounts on at the moment on pillowcases, scrunchies, hair tools etc so good for stocking fillers. Putting my code on the referral thread now.

Not for anything specific but my local Sainsburys had some really good toy bargains yesterday. I got the Micromallows Ferris Wheel for £10, its £45 in Argos! I assume it will be on a store by store basis depending what they have in stock but the shelves had multiple other toys that were 80%ish off.

I tried a silk pillowcase years ago, and it felt so slidey that I couldn't relax on it and it made my neck go stiff with trying to prevent my head from falling off, so I gave up on it. That's probably just me though! On the other hand the dreamland heated throw I got because of one of these threads is now one of my favourite ever things.

Someone further up the thread (or might have been the last one?!) posted a link to get silk pillowcases with a cotton material on the back. I thought they looked good as I was worried about whole silk ones slipping about - I’ve been ummming and errring about buying some myself!

Someone previously mentioned a Salter hot chocolate maker/frother that was reduced on the Curry’s website but I can’t find the link, can anyone remember which one it was?

Disneyland2022 · 05/11/2025 13:34

Looking for a discount code for Argos please? Looking to spend £100 so anything would be great. Thanks
