It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities . I tried a silk pillowcase years ago, and it felt so slidey that I couldn't relax on it and it made my neck go stiff with trying to prevent my head from falling off, so I gave up on it. That's probably just me though! On the other hand the dreamland heated throw I got because of one of these threads is now one of my favourite ever things.

I received one as a present 5 years ago and it's been slowly growing in a pot in the garden since, I move it to the front door step every December and put lights and decorations on it and it looks very sweet. It started looking a bit brown this summer so it might be on the way out, but it's done well until now. I keep it out of hot sun and water it every now and then when it's dry. The pot it's in is fairly big, maybe 40cm tall.

Haha don't mess with the in-laws Christmas traditions, it won't increase anyone's happiness on the day!

@FilthyforFirthfor winter running kit, I recommend going onto Sports Direct and putting “reflective” as a search term. They’re not quite as bargainous as the items previously linked to but they have a lot of choice and it’s all good value (Adidas jackets reduced from something like £90 to £28)

Start Fitness are a really well established company, must be at least 40 years old. Good bargains but also one of the only places that stock eg running spikes for athletics. SportsShoes.com also do decent discounts on older stock and if you are an EA member through a running club you get an additional discount.

@FilthyforFirth good luck with London training, sure there are some threads here for marathon training and you may be a seasoned pro already but if you want any advice, I'm actually an EA running coach and have done London myself 10 times:)

some of it is in packets which makes it more awkward for gifting, and it’s just a plain white box so you may want to buy a nicer one. You could get some fancy tea and coffee to go with it.
