Thread 8 - the one with all the pillow talk

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

Not particularly a bargain, but cheaper than buying anything from the US and importing it! Dd is a huge Salish Matter fan (YouTuber) and she has brought out her own collab with ‘Gui Gui’
It’s exclusively available at Smyths and is available for delivery at the moment! Previously it was click and collect only here but it is £11.99 for a tub of slime so maybe it living on the bargain page is disingenuous

Help needed please ! And what I think was a bargain if they arrive. I had an ad for emotional support crochet animals advent calendars for £13 each on Facebook but found them on eBay for £8 each. Let’s see. Now my ask- need ideas for my amazing auntie - we only do low budget and I usually do hamper type things. She likes herbal tea and I usually get nice biscuits but want to do something a bit different and nice for her and my uncle. Maybe a book each plus a mug and beverages ? She loves sewing and knitting. He likes cricket. Any ideas ? Or ideas just for a £20 ish nice little gift for them to share. They don’t really like cafes.

M&S do a letterbox afternoon tea hamper for £20

If it makes you feel any better I tried the discount code and it didn’t work.

Same.

Have you ordered this? If you have, see if you can cancel! My mum ordered the same thinking it would be very cute but she actually got a photo of the crochet animal behind each door 🙈🙈🙈

Can anyone please recommend a good place to get a tshirt printed with your own design/graphic? Additional discounts much appreciated!

Anyone seen anything bargainacious for inside crackers? I’ve done whistles, lottery tickets, chocolates, mini puzzles and drawing a blank.

If anyone likes Solace jewellery looks like some good offers. 65% off and some items with a further 20% off

Last year for the teen girls I did Mini Benefit mascaras and for the ladies I put in mini Lancôme eye creams.
The boys I’ve got sample aftershaves, and for the dads I put in mini booze !

I’ve got loads of ideas but my crackers are going to be high end so depends on your budget!

Notlongnow1 · 03/11/2025 22:57

Are there ever bargains to be had on LeMieux toy ponies?! Specifically Razzle!

If you google "t-shirt printing near me" there'll be many local shops pop up for you.

Could be decent solution?

Can I ask for help - my daughter come back from Brownies with a brightly coloured thing she'd made out of something that looks like playdoh, but is very very light (weight) and went hard in an OK fashion, instead of cracking and odd like playdoh does. Does anyone know what this stuff is called please, and what's a good brand of it? I did ask daughter but she wasn't much use and I don't see the Owls.

Sounds like polymer clay. Have a look at clayrazy online. My school run a clayrazy after school club and it sounds similar to what you have described.

Looking for recommendation for simple amigurumi crochet kit for my daughter please?
Bought a cheap stocking filler kit in The Works which I decided to test myself before giving one to DD. Good job I did. It's really poor quality. It's supposed to be a beginners kit but the instructions are useless with lines missing. Took me hours and much mental maths to sort out and would be impossible for her.

I’d buy her the yarn to make a crochet bee or little octopus . Lots of patterns available for free online and lots of videos on YouTube if she’s a beginner. Get her a lovely clover amour hook too and some stitch markers. Cotton yarn is good to start with . Chenille is lovely but not for beginners as can’t really see the stitches properly.

Hope Valley saddlery usually run a 20% discount across the store near the end of November if that helps. They do regular discounts on specific items/brands throughout the year do worth watching before then

Jumping on the wool related crafts. Dn(15) asked for felting related gift. Does anyone have any suggestions? Budget about £25

Crochetandtea · 03/11/2025 23:30

Needle felting or wet felting?

ooh I’m not sure, I don’t think she’s done either. She’s very keen on textiles.

Crochetandtea · 03/11/2025 23:34

Dunelm have lots of little needle felting kits for £5.

My DD is also a Salish fan and I didn’t know about this so thanks for posting it! I tried to find her skincare range but looks like it’s only available in the US 😫

🌸I’ve posted about the amazing solid perfumes from Tenth Muse before but I just got an email to say there’s 30% off everything for one day only. This would take the price of a bundle (lovely heavy metal case with your choice of perfume insert) down to only £26.60 and you should be able to stack this with a referral code for an additional £3 off.

the perfumes are lovely, sustainable, British made, plastic and chemical free and they’re very nicely presented so they make a great gift.

my personal recommendation is the St Bart’s case with the “clean girl” fragrance. The refills are very reasonable too - only about £14 if you set up a subscription, which can be as often or as infrequent as you like.

I've added my referral code to the last page of the current referrals board if anyone is looking for one.
