This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

It went down to £129 on Amazon during Prime Day deals this month as I bought one. The cheapest I've seen it elsewhere is £149, it might go down again during Black Friday deals 🤞🏻

Thanks for this, also considering this for our daughter.

FurForksSake · 18/10/2025 18:48

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads we use o’boy chocolate powder and that does hot and cold nicely. I think any of the powders would be fine, but the chocolate flakes not. You could experiment melting the chocolate flakes in hot water or milk and then adding in cold milk and using the frother.

Hello,
I wondered if anyone could recommend a slimline sunglasses case for around £20 at all please? A nice quality one where the glass part is in the leather case and the arms wrap around the back of it of that makes sense?

I have one of these
dundasburgun.com/products/racing-green-lensrappa?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20920822020&gbraid=0AAAAACQQKgMRFMJR8gizPVW2pPvsWZzn3&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9czHBhCyARIsAFZlN8QoG2nCjaGwF69D0OQtyVXhA-H5-ST0vP0E6vWz0Wo-w8VCmfs5ogYaAuMkEALw_wcB

lots of colours to choose from. No good for large glasses though (e.g. large sunglasses)

I have a 15 year old autistic daughter who never ever writes a Christmas list. She’s tomboy-ish, obsessed with gaming on her tablet, listens to heavy metal, and likes animals. Reads books.

HELP! I need gift ideas. It’s a struggle every year.

An electric guitar?

We had smyths own set which have been fine and a lot cheaper than many out there

We’re looking at the Smyths set too- what sort of age do you think they’d last until? Our child is 4 so ideally want them to last a couple of years

I guess it depends on what they use them for but DD is 3.5 and still uses them a lot.

My half price nutcracker crackers arrived from musicroom today - they look lovely and I can't believe how quickly they were sent. The picture on the back of the box shows the nutcracker ornaments that are the gift inside and they look nice. imo the version with the print on a white background look a little nicer than the one with a print on a gold background

FurForksSake · 18/10/2025 12:02

@NoWordForFluffy the ikea stainless steel roasting pans are excellent if you need a recommendation!

We've looked at these just now and they look great, thank you!

@MerylSqueak try Dunhelm Mills for their teddy duvet sets

https://www.dunelm.com/category/home-and-furniture/bedding/winter-bedding

I got the dunelm teddy one last year and we had to bin it. It washed awfully and just went bobbly. Also everything stuck to it, it was like velcro.

Can anyone recommend a set of stepping stones for a toddler please?
There seems to be a lot around and not sure which set to go for
He's 18 months old and pretty small but a confident walker/climber, ideally a set that will last a while and that stacks away nicely 🤞🏼

I have the round ones from temu. My kids (6 and 3) use them weekly to make assault courses. They don't slip like the skinny ones do. Anything round would work :)

MerylSqueak · 18/10/2025 19:48

Thank you for the suggestions @Dippythedino @HeatingFiddler

Ooopsyididit · 18/10/2025 18:30

Their codes hardly ever work. Its a bit annoying! I always say I'll complain but never do lol

the codes don't stack but both of them work individually for me - which is annoying.

cadbury have two large bars for £20 on their website but postage is £4

i know you didn’t ask me but we have the Smyths set and still regularly used by my 4 and 7 year old

We have the Gonge river stones (bought before the alternatives existed I think) and they’ve been fine. Rubber edges so they don’t slip, stack away into one small pile, and they hold my weight.
they’re not very high but good for practicing balance.
that said I can’t imagine they’re significantly different to the others which are available.

Blessedbethefruitz · 18/10/2025 20:43

Are there any pork scratchings connoisseur on here who can recommend a gift? I cant stand them but dh still laments how he didn't get any last year 😅

I have the exact same problem. So far my DD is getting games, new gaming headset and new trainers. She’s a nightmare every year and things like concerts or experiences don’t work for her

PerformativeBewilderment · 18/10/2025 20:59

@Blessedbethefruitz I rate these guys - they often email out offers

https://wearethecurators.com/collections/pork-puffs

their pork scratchings are called pork puffs - they are a bit lighter and less fatty than normal, so work well with flavours

Pork Puffs

All about the CRUNCH. Light, crispy and full of flavour, these high-protein crisps are the perfect guilt-free snack.

LunaDeBallona · 18/10/2025 20:59

I don’t want to sound grumpy as I’ve had LOADS of fantastic buys because of these threads over the years but lately I seem to be trawling through so many posts of ‘can anybody recommend a XXXXXXXXX’ .
Ive just checked @Reastie OP which says “to share bargainous links, ideas, codes, or information”.
I think for the first time ever I’ve waded through nearly 40 pages without even checking a single link.
Wouldn’t it be wise to set up a separate thread for “looking for” rather than sharing great offers?
I love these threads so much - bring back the bargains!!

Blessedbethefruitz · 18/10/2025 21:07

@LunaDeBallona I think that might be a sign of the times though. I've been here for years too, and this year the number of bargains to be found (assuming everyone else is also browsing amazon etc like it's a competitive sport) seems to be through the floor. Others don't want to post links to the Chinese sites, I assume.

@PuppyKeep I was that girl. Dont know your budget or willingness, but Download Germany (Munich?) has an awesome 2026 line-up, and will work out cheaper than UK. How about obscure crafts (pretty sure you can crochet/knit/cross stitch some fab alternative stuff - i have some good x stitch links if you want), music subscription, comic books (the boys is brilliant), metal autobiographies, and of course, the play store gift card (boring but functional)?

Blessedbethefruitz · 18/10/2025 21:09

Is monster high still a thing?

Just ordered the Glasses Cleaner from Rosemart Signs and the RMULTI20 code is still working.
8 little sticking fillers sorted! Thank you to the original poster!
I’m trying to do it so that every person gets something from a small, British company this year so these suggestions are fab.

weareallqueens · 18/10/2025 21:31

I agree with @Blessedbethefruitz - there’s been very little this year in terms of bargains. I’ve normally got most of my shopping done by the end of October but have hardly anything done now. So recommendation chat is taking up far more of the thread than in the past. Maybe things will pick up for Black Friday.
