This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Has anyone any ideas for dinosaur gifts for a 10 year old please?!

@ILoveCatsAndKittens the Philip Ardagh book Did Dinosaurs Snore? is funny with unusual facts, though it is from 2001 so only second hand and some facts may be out of date!

There are several choose-your-own-adventure type books, eg Dinosaur Canyon or Choose Your Own Evolution: Go Extinct or Survive? You Decide!
I think I want those, too!

Finally, the Natural History Museum shop is great for ideas, it has dinosaur Guess Who and Monopoly plus tonnes more books, toys and homeware.
(Can be used as inspiration for bargain hunting elsewhere, though it does support the museum!)

@WannaBeOrganised @hugsandpugs The Morrisons offer has finished. Currently £6 a tub with a More Card. The 2 for 9 will probably be back. It's already run a couple of times.

The 325g pouches are currently £3 with a More Card in Morrisons. The tubs (certainly of celebrations) are 500g so it's actually currently slightly better to get 2 pouches instead

These are tempting, but I do not have the willpower to keep them until Christmas!

I really like a pair of their autumn PJ's, the ones with coffee, croissants and cinnamon whirls on, and I'm waiting for the same thing!

Hi everyone, October already! Just wondering if anyone managed to get a refund or get their order from American Candy?

Still no joy for me and wondering whether to try and raise it with the bank?

Off the back of your post, I emailed them about my own order and got a reply to say they have shipped a large back log of orders and to please be patient. I will wait.

Can anyone remember if Micro Scooters offered discount last year for black Friday or any other event please?

Thank you!

Any suggestions for decent but not fancy colouring pencils for an adult? I have brought my mum an adults colouring book as she showed an interest and retired this year so has more time. Need to get some colours to go with it- don’t want to spend loads as she might not take to it but equally she needs a decent set not a kids one.

Derwent are gold standard but might be too expensive- they do have good Black Friday deals usually. I also like finenolo 72 coloured set - about £11.50 on Amazon. They aren’t great to blend, but that prob doesn’t matter with colouring in

If anyone sees a white fox discount I’d be grateful, dd 10 would love one of their hoodies but they are so expensive! Gutted to have missed the sale 40% last week 🤦‍♀️

If you subscribe to them the send you a 20% code x

Thank you. Yes I don’t think we need gold standard!

Does anyone know how long it takes PayPal cashback to track? I ordered a few things after it was recommended on here but I’m not sure if it’s worth sticking with.

Someone on the last threat posted about heroes being £4.92 on amazon - just wanted to add that sainsburys had them this week for £4.50 a box (all 4 types) and morrisons has £9 for 2. Even better if you use topcashback for a gift card.

I'm torn between buying some because they are the cheapest I've seen (don't think I even got them that cheap last year) and not, because I'll eat too many!

I know I missed s few pages but when did we start threats 🤣

Ewock · 02/10/2025 18:05

Just a heads up about the candle lamp. I have a lot of Yankee candles and it will not fit a large jar candle of there's underneath. Its lovely though so I'm testing it with a small jar candle to see if it works. Then I'll need to decide if I keep it or not as really wanted it for my large candles

I don't use pencils in my colouring (mostlymandalas), I use Stabilo pens point 88 which are very fine for detail - often on offer with Cult Pens or Amazon

LostCats2 · 02/10/2025 18:15

For the person asking about dinosaur items, I really recommend this book. It has been read cover to cover many times over the years (incl by me during the kids long bathtimes). The pictures are gorgeous and they've (I've) learned so much so it's definitely for all ages:Amazing Dinosaur Book

Edited to add website (!)

@ILoveCatsAndKittens came across this website https://dinosaursdoingstuff.com when I was looking for ideas for my granddaughter but she’s only 4 so might not be suitable for an older child.
Jurassic Jim on Facebook for fossils etc if he is interested in real stuff

This company is in the super seconds festival somebody else (sorry forget name) posted about

@weareallqueens I signed up for PayPal cashback after reading about it on here, but only part way through September for category "fashion". I had an email on 30 Sept stating I had earned £2.26 (assumed because last day of September) and email says will be paid into my PayPal balance within 7 days.

I think it says upto a month, if you click on the spend it tells you estimated time till you get the cashback.

MamaRoly · 02/10/2025 18:47

However re PayPal cashback, I remembered that you have to select a category every month, and as the thread title says.... it is now October. But I can't remember how to do this on the app. Help!

I can’t see anything on mine to select for this month! Weird how it’s been on there the last couple of months though!
