Food shopped has arrived and guess what’s missing?

What is missing from yours? And ..which shop was delivering it?
After getting a coveted delivery slot with Sainsbury’s, it has arrived and they have “lost “ the freezer food. FFS
No pigs in blankets, icecream, peas, pizza for a quick Xmas eve dinner with movie (amongst other stuff). Now have to trawl the bloody supermarket tomorrow. Exactly the reason I persevered with securing an online slot in october.
Now on hold for the helpline (15 minutes so far) to get a refund. Last Xmas shop with them for me. They fucked up last year too with. A long list of unavailable items received. This year, only a few replacements and it was looking good until the delivery arrived minus a crate or two.

Tesco shop coming at 10 and everything is present and correct so I’m very happy 😀

NoWordForFluffy · 23/12/2024 08:41

I'm waiting for my Sainsbury's receipt to be emailed. I'd expected it to be much earlier, though our delivery isn't until 9-10 tonight, so will be at the back of the queue for picking. It only cost £1 for the delivery though, so I can't complain.

There's nothing vital in the delivery really. It's a mix of usual pay day stuff with a bit of Christmas stuff added.

AdaColeman · 23/12/2024 08:48

Ocado delivery due this morning, nothing missing and only three substitutes. The substitutions are sensible, a product of one brand for different brand of the same item.
So well done Ocado, and Merry Christmas! 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄

Packetofcrispsplease · 23/12/2024 08:53

I’m relying on Sainsbury’s tomorrow…help 🤪🤣😏
In all honesty I don’t rely on them , I got a lot of my Christmas food from the M&S frozen section as I really wanted to get the sous vide slow cooked turkey thingy that you just basically heat in the oven .
When I went to book an M&S food to order slot , it was easy to get a slot but most of what I wanted had sold out .
So I didn’t bother and just went to M&S in November on a quiet weekday and got freezer stuff .
I also went to M&S yesterday evening to buy a quick dinner for last night and they were absolutely piled high with veg etc !!

Blueberry911 · 23/12/2024 08:56

I'm also down for a Sainsburys, I am awaiting my email saying I have a list of substitutions. My delivery is at teatime and consists of a variety of Christmas and normal bits. Nothing we couldn't live without (except maybe the coffee) and our Christmas Eve fish. Fingers crossed!

bugalugs45 · 23/12/2024 08:57

Waitrose - £302 order , everything there apart from Heinz beans lol . They substituted with their own brand though so can probably live with that

MrsTulip · 23/12/2024 08:58

Didn't bother with an online slot as struggled to get one. Got a turkey and put in the freezer back end of November and I went to tesco (as nearest and very large!) on Friday evening for the non perishable stuff and going to brave Aldi in about an hour when DS is dressed.

Firenzeflower · 23/12/2024 09:00

No milk.
Also it looked like someone had drop kicked my “Ultimate £20 Chocolate Yule Log”. It resembles an actual log.

Tryingtomakeitthroughtheweek · 23/12/2024 09:02

The blimmin turkey! I ordered two turkey joints and no stock apparently, not even substituted 🙁

Miepmiep · 23/12/2024 09:07

I am mildly disappointed with my substitutions from Ocado but they are at least reasonable.

Green cotton candy grapes replaced with black tutti frutti grapes, which were already in my order.

Sausages instead of chipolatas but the same brand.

Yeo Valley cream instead of Tom Parker’s (which is infinitely superior).

My worst Christmas substitution ever wasn’t actually a substitution but a bit of a surprise. I had ordered a bag of parsnips from Riverford but what arrived was 1 giant misshapen monster parsnip. DS was a baby and it was bigger than his head with a long wispy tail. It was too woody for eating but at least it gave us a good laugh.

You could try your local butchers, or if you get frozen start defrosting it now!

ramabanana · 23/12/2024 09:33

Just got my Sainsbury's order in, just one substitution and no missing items, very happy!

DH is on the case, good shout about a butchers though thank you.

All the turkeys at the local butchers will be spoken for

OnlyTheBravest · 23/12/2024 09:56

Pretty good this year. One short life product, which is the bread that is due to expire before Christmas Day. That went back and one reasonable substitute.

Gem359 · 23/12/2024 10:16

We went to the shops at about 8:30 am on Saturday and then again this morning and both were fine, not manic at all. We do get deliveries quite often but I'd rather pick my own stuff for Christmas and make sure I get what I want.

LilacHexagon · 23/12/2024 10:37

The receipt's just come through for my ocado shop: 3 like for like subs (one brand of carrots with another, for example). Phew!

My best Christmas sub was with asda. 3 cheap bottles of wine instead of one expensive one, for the same price. It was drinkable enough so I was happy, but I did wonder what the packer was thinking.

Mrswhatsit40 · 23/12/2024 10:44

Shouldnellly · 22/12/2024 20:29

Ocado are missing my brother’s present of Marzipan fruits.

I always wonder who eats those things! 😂

Miepmiep · 23/12/2024 10:55

@Tryingtomakeitthroughtheweek we once had a turkey missing from an online order and ended up rushing to M&S just before they closed on Christmas Eve. We came back with a freezerful of less than half price turkey crowns, beef, lamb and gammon joints, a goose and party food. Now we always pop out on Christmas Eve for bargains for a NYE buffet and dinner on New Year’s Day. I’m sure you’ll find a turkey joint!

NoWordForFluffy · 23/12/2024 11:13

I got my receipt. I'm only keeping 1 of the subs, as it was item 3 of the 3 for 2, so if I don't keep it, they won't refund me anything (vegetable spring rolls instead of salt and pepper spring rolls)!

They've swapped a four bean salad for a tabbouleh, but I already have 4 tabbouleh, so don't need it. Satsumas for the cheaper easy peelers, so they're going back. Also I ordered a spiced blood orange fizz which they've swapped for a bog standard Buck's Fizz, so that's also going back.

Could've been worse!

MrsLeonFarrell · 23/12/2024 11:25

Tesco just delivered here, no substitutions or unavailable items.

It's a Christmas miracle.

Or the fact that mostly it was veg and their To Order range as I bought everything I possibly could ahead of time.

It makes the house very cluttered to have food stored in every corner.

buttonousmaximous · 23/12/2024 11:26

buttonousmaximous · 22/12/2024 20:49

Asda delivery tomorrow I've bet 18 substitutions, pessimistic dd is going 24. Dh has said 10. Bonus points if we guess an item, I've guessed Turkey gravy, chestnuts and sprouts.

Last year they substituted my chestnuts for cashews 😂

Ok so 12 substitutions, some are like got like. The worst one as predicted-

3x pre made Extra special turkey gravy substitute- one jar of cranberry sauce

The oddest one -
Profiterole stack substitute - mince pie and custard tart

What's that you say? It's still a dessert at least. Well yes but my other dessert substitution was-

12 macaroons substitute- a profiterole stack!!!!!

buttonousmaximous · 23/12/2024 11:28

Oh and unfortunately dh dealt with delivery and because he's incapable of thinking on the spot he accepted them all!!

Basketballhoop · 23/12/2024 11:50

Having got my delivery slot booked at 10pm last night, my receipt for this afternoon is showing only a few luxury items subbed for basics. They will get rejected. If I am going to treat myself, I want to do it properly! First world problems.
Will pick up the luxuries from M&S with the turkey.

Blueberry911 · 23/12/2024 12:09

Short life bread so will probably reject that but everything else looks okay (a few subs for very similar things that make no difference to us)

Sainsburys looking so far so good!
