What wrapping paper have you gone for?

I am very fussy about wrapping paper and the only one I found I liked this year is out of stock, it was a double sided Dunelm one

I haven't found another I even remotely like. I love wrapping and using ribbon to make it all look amazing.

One year I decided to use plain brown paper and add my own stamps. Never again! My stamps ended up smudged as I had no where to keep them flat while they dried! Also I only used ribbon to tie the parcels, no sellotape to reduce landfill as sellotape should not go in the paper recycling bin. I struggled to hold the folded ends flat while wrapping ribbon round, I really felt I needed four hands! The parcels looked so messy, like a two year old child had done them, and it took me hours to finish them!

To add to my woes, my brother in law just grabbed all the wrapping paper into plastic bags to take to the tip before I had chance to make sure my brown paper got recycled! Never again!

I've got M&S stuff, but I do love the paper from a small company called bright stem. It's really thick and gorgeous patterns. Here -

I can second the recommendation for Bright stems papers they are so colourful and very high quality! They are also more environmentally friendly than lots of the other papers you can buy!

Not plastic wrapped, and Made in UK are my own stipulations. Planet first.

Sausagenbacon · 04/12/2024 10:22

The financial times

Deeperthantheocean · 04/12/2024 17:31

Aldi always, thick, good quality and cheap! It's all ripped off and binned, don't see the point in buying anything else, especially for kids. Xx

Whatever is left under the bed from previous years, really.

👍👍👍

TheTwirlyPoos · 04/12/2024 18:17

I've got so much from previous years I'm not buying any. I've so much it's silly

Shufflebumnessie · 04/12/2024 18:48

I found a couple of different rolls in Card Factory today. They're both navy with simple(ish) gold designs on. The paper feels quite thick too. £1.79 a roll. It's the nicest I've found so far this year that isn't ridiculously expensive, or an absolutely awful design!

Bulldog01 · 04/12/2024 18:52

I usually buy wrapping paper from T.K.Maxx online every year. I have purchased two rolls for this Christmas,as i have quite a few left over from previous years.
They sell a large variety of wrapping papers. Prices are reasonable for the amount of wrapping paperon a roll.

Shufflebumnessie · 04/12/2024 18:55

@everyothernamewastaken yes!!! In fact a FB 'memory' post came up recently to just remind me of how awful that paper was.
I remember the glitter being everywhere, all over my hands and face, all over DS who was 9 months at the time and had been sitting in his bouncy chair whilst I wrapped and even our black cats had a light dusting of glitter!
To add insult to injury, the sellotape failed to stick to the paper and by the following morning all the presents were in various states of unwrap.
I actually still have some at the very bottom of my box of wrapping paper. It seems such a waste to bin it but I can't bring myself to actually use it up!!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/12/2024 19:02

Funnily enough, I saw some really nice 🎄paper in WH Smith today - really Christmassy but tasteful - by far the nicest I’ve seen so far. Was too laden to buy any, but will be back.

MellowSunshine · 04/12/2024 20:31

Same! I use up bits from last year and add something I pick up cheap somewhere.

allthatfalafel · 04/12/2024 22:01

I only get recyclable and brown paper tape so it can all go straight in the recycling. Hate taking tape off things to recycle it, and the shiny plastic wrap makes my skin crawl when it moves

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 04/12/2024 22:32

Aldi this year.

I have a storage item for my wrapping paper. It’s excellent :

Well, after all that I made it into a Dunelm that was showing the wrapping paper as being out of stock bit found a plentiful supply of it and...

I hated it! The design was all blurry and it just was not what I was expecting at all.

All that glitters... 😂

Paperdolly · 15/12/2024 08:19

Got my ‘luxury’ paper from BnM. Bought a wrapping gadget that is brilliant!! Two clamps on the table with paper roll in between. Holder and sellotape cutter on either side of clamps. Genius!!! I normally hate the wrapping bit but this year has brought me deep joy.

What wrapping paper have you gone for?
Stressybetty · 16/12/2024 12:28

DH found this one which he thinks is hilarious and has ordered some 🙄

I've just used the wrapping paper rolls leftover from last year.

However, I must admit over the past 4 or 5yrs, I've been saving and re-using the gift bags that Amazon pressies come in. I use them for gifts for the kids. It saves me SO much time and faffing about! I keep the labels on the bags, and just stick over another label if I need to use it for someone else.
