What wrapping paper have you gone for?

I am very fussy about wrapping paper and the only one I found I liked this year is out of stock, it was a double sided Dunelm one

I haven't found another I even remotely like. I love wrapping and using ribbon to make it all look amazing.

A bit off the thread, but did anybody buy that glittery reindeer one from Tesco a few years ago that was basically a glitter bomb equivalent?

It had so much glitter you could hardly tape presents up and I had glitter for months afterwards everywhere!

Recycling companies were fuming as everyone tried to put it with paper/card Recycling which rendered everything else in the bins not recyclable.

It was very pretty though ...

Yes I did and was just thinking about how messy it was! My living room was covered in glitter after I’d used it and my sisters house was also very glittery after we opened all our presents - I was not very popular!

I’ve just ordered a 10m roll from Boots with their 3 for 2 offer, bought some presents as well so the roll was actually free! I hope it’s decent quality as I hate thin paper that rips!

Yoonimum · 03/12/2024 18:49

Anything in red/green with Christmas foliage/robins/hares etc, no text and a good thickness. Can't bear paper that tears when you fold the corners over....

christmasnotchristmust · 03/12/2024 19:12

Went to our local wall paper store and asked them for those big sample books, that they throw out anyway. The paper is so thick and sturdy and easy to fold nicely. No big presents obviously but gorgeous paper.

Are you sure? It's letting me add some to my basket

I used to be fussy, this year most of the presents under my tree will be wrapped in Spiderman wrapping paper. 🙃

adult presents will be in plain brown wrapping paper, I then use my stamps to decorate them. Waterstones had some pretty and smart looking wrapping paper in store at the weekend if anyone’s still hunting for some nice stuff.

Yep also spidey in this house 🏠 even spiderman tags thanks to The Sticker.Site :)

I found some lovely wrapping paper by Cambridge Imprints at the local garden centre which is gorgeous but bloody expensive!

I haven’t looked elsewhere but will probably wrap the children’s gifts in something cheaper and save the nicer stuff for friends and family.

These are gorgeous; thanks for sharing!

I went very traditional this year.

For delivery? Or local collection only? I can add them to my basket but then they are out of stock for delivery and anywhere near me

I always get mine from Curlicue. All their paper is fully recyclable and made in the UK, designed by independent artists. They have some beautiful designs and even better, a lot of the styles are currently on offer!

I use Tesco's. It's cheap with the clubcard and has a squared grid on the inside so you can keep straight when cutting.

AndThereSheGoes · 03/12/2024 20:28

@DiscoBeat thats lovely!

We got a selection from Sostrene Grene, including this one:

I got a couple from sister green too. Their ribbons are also amazing and reusable.

MadBlack · 03/12/2024 20:52

I bought some from next last weekend. Seems thick, has grid for straight cutting and is recyclable. 9 pounds for 9 metres.

buckeejit · 03/12/2024 21:05

I'm a big fan of sostrene green papers & ribbon. I've been separately wrapping nice boxes & lids & reusing them for years now though -it's very handy & looks good! 😁

TeamMandrake · 03/12/2024 21:08

The kids presents are all in reusable bags i bought in previous years. For the rest, I bought several meters of this fabric intending on making drawstrings, and haven't got round to it. I've chopped it up and wrapped things in it japanese style anyway - maybe I'll make bags next year.

Aww maybe that's it i can collect near me, sorry OP

LBFseBrom · 03/12/2024 21:20

That is very nice indeed. I have some like it but I can't remember where I bought it. I too like wrapping paper and must admit to having such a lot that it will probably outlive me!

ODFOx · 03/12/2024 21:23

I haven't opened the big bag of paper and bows yet to start wrapping. I bought loads of paper after Christmas last year. I can tell you that it will be recyclable with a brown paper based. Otherwise I have nothing!

LochNessy · 03/12/2024 21:26

Randomly, mine is all from Primark this year. £1.50 for an 8m roll. Brown paper backed with a printed pattern, my favourite has Christmas trees on it.

I have some brown paper rolls, some with Christmas trees on, some other Christmassy things. I got them from Next about three years ago :-). I cannot resist attractive wrapping paper.

@Binfire “will probably wrap the children’s gifts in something cheaper and save the nicer stuff for friends and family”.

Aren’t your children family? 😓

AnnieSnap · 03/12/2024 21:47

I avoid wrapping paper. The speed at which it is torn open and thrown away makes me feel environment irresponsible. I either find some that is already recycled, or use recycled brown paper. That can still look lovely with a ribbon around it!
