@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Hi, does anyone have an Argos code that would work on an £85 unexpected spend they could message me? Thanks

I have one that you're welcome to. Not sure how to send to you on the app?

Mustangsallyis · 03/11/2024 18:27

@SharonMack17 think I have done it via the mobile browser - fingers crossed!

I can't remember which poster was looking for wooden toys but I've bought from this company before:

https://beldimaisoninteriors.com/collections/toys

They also stock home interiors and wellness products.

Chocolatecakewithsprinkles · 03/11/2024 18:58

@Cupofteaandbiscuits most games are no longer made for the ps4. You can play ps4 games on a ps5 not the other way round. If that helps at all.

Another quick question…..White Fox hoodies, do I risk waiting for Black Friday and hope I get the one I’m after before the size goes out of stock or does anyone know of a discount code to try before then?

Dinomum24 · 03/11/2024 19:18

Has anyone got any ideas for bits to put in an advent calendar for my husband?!

I did this a few years back! Mini alcohols from gift sets, favourite lindt balls, socks, card games, unusual chocolate bars, fidget toy type things (throwing magnets), deodorant sprays... I am sure there was more!

ArnoldJRimmer · 03/11/2024 19:23

I'm about to do a big argos order so would really appreciate a code! Thank you

YeahWellWhyNot · 03/11/2024 19:26

Has anyone gone for the m&s advent calendar (it's £50 when spending £35) I can't decide if it's good or not as I won't use any of the makeup items. I heard a few people saying it's not a great year for it.

First time in this thread and can't do links sorry but Punirunes digital toy ( like a very upgraded tamagotchi) in Amazon £14.99 down from 39.99 😊

DD 12 needs a new budget friendly laptop. Any recommendations?

It's worth looking on Amazon Resale. I got a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 for less than £250 at the beginning of the year.
I think it was brand new but with a few cosmetic marks (nothing I could spot).

They are half the price of the Nespresso vertuo pods! £4.20 for a 16 pack from Sainsbury’s so 26p each, whereas the vertuo ones seem to start from around 50p each

I’ve never found Tassimo pods as cheap as that! They’re usually about £5 for a box of 6 or 7… really expensive in my opinion!

oriel2013 · 03/11/2024 19:33

Hi sorry I think there were some suggestions for hamster based gifts but I can't find the post..looking for a teen girl who loves hamsters but can't have a live one! Any ideas very welcomed

HoneyPea · 03/11/2024 19:33

@JulietSierra 3 for £12 on Asda so £4 a box but don't have the special flavours (toffee nut latte etc included in the deal) just the standard latte, caramel latte, cap, hot choc etc

Personally I’d say at that price point the Holland and Barrett one looked better this year . There is a whole beauty advent thread , but it does focus a lot on the more expensive ones .

oriel2013 · 03/11/2024 19:34

Suggestion for @mumsnet...can we have a feature to search keywords within threads please?..

I was so disappointed with this years one as I had last years and absolutely loved it. It’s more expensive this year too which would have been ok if I felt the contents were worth it for me. It’s personal taste though so maybe have a read through the contents and if you can make up the value with products you know you’ll use and love then anything else is a bonus.

Also re the make up items, everything is individually boxed or sealed anyway so they could be removed beforehand and gifted?

anon2423 · 03/11/2024 19:35

Any idea for easy handbag bag toys to put away for Christmas? Something I can pull out at restaurants etc. Was thinking maybe magnatiles? (We don’t want an iPad or tablet type thing - toddler isn’t responsible enough for anything like that!!)

Also I think it depends what you buy, lattes etc have 6/7 but americanos have 14/16

From a previous thread I got some travel sized magnetiles from TK Maxx for about £13 (they had some smaller sets at around £8) - think it was about 6 weeks ago? They might still be around but reckon they'll be good for DS (aged 3) when out and about!
