@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Disneyland2022 unfortunately I used a referral link to sign up for Rakuten and have spent over £30 through their site, but no sign of a £25 bonus :(

Kids instant print digital camera down to £15.99 on Amazon when applying the codes. Apparently comes with 3 extra rolls of printer paper too

Hi, which codes are these?

I'm stuck for ideas for my sil so I'm thinking about one of the Valentte gift boxes. I've not orders from them before but they have good reviews & are popular on here. Has anybody tried any of the perfumes?

Also I tried my nespresso machine today. It's brilliant. Thank you to whoever found it!

I ordered from Valentte last year when they had the fabulous bargains!! I have give back and bought more. The candles, room diffusers are fantastic and give such a beautiful scent. Their chocolates are absolutely delicious!! They are t all available yet so haven't ordered as I want to get some!

hby9628 · 03/11/2024 16:44

@jocktamsonsbairn thank you. I was wondering if there might be some good offers around Black Friday. I'll keep an eye out

Lazza24 · 03/11/2024 16:46

Does anyone have a discount code for Notino? I’m after a Sol de janeiro set and they have one which seems like good value and looks nice as a complete gift but I’m wondering if I can knock a few more pounds off the £39 price tag!

When was this? Was it mine?
this happened to my friend, she messaged them on social media & they added the bonus to her account. X

@lololulu I had a BBhugme pillow for both of my pregnancies - it just looks like a bolster so hopefully meets your brief? It isn’t cheap but it is unbelievably comfy and versatile. You can wash the cover easily. I am pretty sure John Lewis sell them or any of the baby websites. I have reluctantly retired my as my husband was complaining of it taking up space but get it out when he’s away!

Dropthepilots · 03/11/2024 16:54

@Disneyland2022 yes it was your link, I will contact Rakuten customer services, it's just a bit disappointing! I only spent money that I would have spent anyway, but the £25 bonus would have been useful. Not your fault obviously! x

Tigger83 · 03/11/2024 17:01

Has anyone got any ideas for bits to put in an advent calendar for my husband?!

hannahbanana2007 · 03/11/2024 17:05

Thanks @MissMaryBennet, will check them out

I have been using Neroli 14 perfume and it smells lovely. Quite fresh but feminine. The scent lasts on you too.

Thanks for all the vegan/alpaca advice. I think I'll avoid as I'm pretty sure they are vegan for ethical reasons. I struggle so much for their gifts. Have given so much garden stuff over the years, and vouchers for various vegan meals kits or hampers and I'm out of ideas!

I keep being advertised these and they have good reviews for vegan & GF chocolate. https://catherinesoriginals.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoq2Jz51ZhBl9zbSR7rk1NVaAyWTIl0ljzFMbTu0P0KfCwX-EyDq

Asda's OMV fudge is nice and grow your own mushroom kits have been well-received in my family. Non-food I'd say anything cotton or recycled paper based (e.g. Nice set of new coasters). I despise 'vegan leather' as it's just plastic. Glass is also fine - could you get them some vegan beers and nice handled pint glasses / vegan wine and some fancy wine glasses?

Or if you want to stick with the garden I'd recommend a nesting box or native wildflower seeds. Giddy gate farm do straight seed mixes (no suet or bugs) in paper bags so they're plastic free too. From my experience, the birds weren't too fussed by my alpaca wool but they loved ripping up rosemary which they use to deter bugs in their nests, so a stoneware pot with that in & an explanatory note might be fun too.

Hope that helps!

I overheard DS speaking to DD saying he’d love a PS5 but because they are expensive he is going to write to Santa and ask because Santa can make one in his workshop!

we cannot stretch to a PS5 but could afford a second hand PS4 as a main present.

I know nothing about consoles. Are PS4s worth it? Can you get new games for them easily or will they be obsolete in a year?!

YeahWellWhyNot · 03/11/2024 18:02

Thanks to whoever posted yesterday about the melty beads (hama knock offs) at Aldi. My kids did a hama blister pack at Halloween and loved it, decided they wanted to make Christmas ones for decorations for grandparents. The Christmas pack is perfect, and I got the last 2 in my store!! Also had food ones (donuts, ice creams) unicorns, dinosaurs, jungle, at 4.99 for 3000 beads plus the boards and the ironing paper I'm over the moon 😄

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and thoughts on the velvetiser. We tried some in store today and ended up buying it. It’s much bigger in real life than online portrays. I had imagined about the size of a stove top espresso machine but it’s more the size of a travel kettle. It was too hot to drink straight away. She said to clean it either rinse it or heat water and fairy liquid for a deep clean. I got choc and latte sachets. She said it won’t use powdered chocolate- but surely you could heat the milk and then portion to the choc powder?
I’m really happy to have it. It’s a beautiful design. Hopefully it’ll last us well ☕️

Someone's probably already said this as I'm late to the party here but you absolutely can use powdered chocolate in it. They just say that so you'll use their sachets. I don't like their sachets..I soully use mine with powdered chocolate. Enjoy!

Blixem · 03/11/2024 18:08

@Minihero I saw one in my local toy shop but I'm on the Isle of Man! If you get stuck you can order online and I can pick it up and post to you. It's Jacs Stores if you want to look.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 03/11/2024 18:13

Completely off topic (sorry) but ahhh @Blixem you are in my favourite place and it's been way too long since I visited. Maybe I should ask Santa for a trip

Hi, does anyone have an Argos code that would work on an £85 unexpected spend they could message me? Thanks

LazyDaisy22 · 03/11/2024 18:20

I stopped getting Argos codes a couple of years ago and signed up again but still don’t get codes! Marketing is ‘on’ too.
