@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

For all those after higher Argos codes, go to their home page scroll down and find this box. Use a different email address if you have already signed up for marketing before

I can’t get this to work. I’ve already signed up before (annoyingly my £10 expired before I could use it), used a different email address this time, and created a new account but it’s saying my code isn’t eligible. Looks like I will have to use my £5 off after all! What a shame.

I know this is probably obvious (but it’s the kind of mistake I make) - it’s £10 off £60, so do you have £60 of stuff in your basket?

Yeah, I have £80 in there. Things are on the ‘2 for £20’ deals, will that affect it do you reckon?I can’t see any terms on the email they send you, just £10 off £60 spend so seems harsh to say it’s not eligible!

That seems odd. I used mine last night (old account, but new email for the voucher) and had various offers combined in the basket. I hope you get something to work.

Could you screenshot your email please. I've only had the email saying its 20% off instore, and when I've added a jumper I want to my cart it's just taking off the original online 10%.

Yes just looked and it further and there is a code at the bottom! For some reason I thought it was applied automatically. Sorry about that! See attached.

I need help on something please and you guys always seem to have such good suggestions! My DS (8) wants to be able to listen to music when out and about so basically an MP3 player. I don't want to spend crazy amounts, and found loads around £30 price on Amazon from random brands, but my DH wants to make sure it's something compatible with Apple Music/itunes (he and I both have iPhones so this is the format we use). I looked at the iPod touch but unless 7th gen they are no longer supported and these are still SO expensive, even on Vinted second hand (unless in terrible condition). Any suggestions?! Are there other brands that are compatible or is it Apple products only?

CrochetMadRosie · 03/11/2024 10:56

@ClaraLane
Thanks for the link. I'd looked and couldn't see them before and now I've managed to order two.

Elphaba17 · 03/11/2024 10:56

Boots have the Sculpted by Aimee treasured collection for £49.50 as their star gift. I use the beauty base which is amazing and normally £23 alone so this seems a really good deal.

Some of the Mattel Disney princess signature dolls are down to £7 a dollar on Amazon.
And then the singing Elsa and Anna are down to £12 each. Considering they are £27 each in Argos.

Clucket87 · 03/11/2024 11:03

£7 a doll. Not a dollar! Silly autocorrect!

PlanBea · 03/11/2024 11:04

@MidnightMilkman I got a hot wheels mystery bundle from PoundFun earlier on the year - it didn't come with track but was £25 for a bunch of cars, blind bags, a tub of bubbles. There's a spin to win at the moment and I got a 20% off code - WLOPO9JVAM90 - if it's any help

CEX (or similar) will have good condition iPods. I'm fairly certain it's only apple products that are compatible with iTunes.

Addictedtobeauty · 03/11/2024 11:50

Thank you to the poster who shared the Oral B Boots offer- used it a couple of times to maximise the free points and get new toothbrushes and brush heads. Great deal.

TuftyMarmoset · 03/11/2024 11:51

If anyone wanted a pod coffee machine but missed the nespresso one or boycotts Nestle, this one at Very looks like a fab deal - the machine alone is £46 at Amazon without even including the bundle of pods.

If you use the new code and email address on secret mode it will go through. I have to do this with new email addresses quite often otherwise it just picks up you already have an account

hannahbanana2007 · 03/11/2024 12:01

Ah thanks @Trainstrike, good suggestion on CEX, I hadn't thought of checking there Smile

I thought was a great idea but I’ve just tried it and wouldn’t work either 😩 it really doesn’t want me to have any money off!

I was gonna go for this but the pods aren’t cheap to buy and they only accept the Tassimo ones so I didn’t bother

Cex would be your friend. They come with two years guarantee which is often better than manufacturer

Thank you!

They are half the price of the Nespresso vertuo pods! £4.20 for a 16 pack from Sainsbury’s so 26p each, whereas the vertuo ones seem to start from around 50p each

MamaBearH · 03/11/2024 12:22

Wellwhoknewthat · 03/11/2024 08:19

@MamaBearH what's your budget, how old is DS and does he already have a gaming chair? (Some wheels/pedals for on certain chairs)

Budget is kind of unknown at the moment as both vehicles need repairs & the dishwasher packed in last night. I know I'll need to spend around £100 on each child. He's 14 so fully willing to spend his money from family towards getting it which would increase the budget. Sorry I'm so vague it's just been a bit tense round here lately with money.
The ps5 is in the living room so he sits on the sofa to play. When he had a steering wheel & pedals for the xbox 360 he used an ikea wooden stool to fix it to if that helps.

Can you share details of what’s in your basket and someone else can try? It might help figure out the problem.

Filterphobia · 03/11/2024 07:42

@MamaBearH we bought a gaming steering wheel on Vinted recently, they allow sale of electrical items now.

I've never used Vinted so will check that out, thanks.
