@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior this is what I had thought. I was imagining whacking a walnut with one of those soldiers and thought it couldn't end well...

dd has asked for the giant unicorn in the Smyths catalogue which is £35. I'm sure Robert (think that was his name) is older than her but I remember him being very popular at the time so I'm assuming a good price. Does anyone remember where he was from, or has anyone seen another cheap one somewhere?

Unfortunately needs to be online due to living in the middle of nowhere.

For everyone looking at a Hot chocolate machine, I can recommend this It was recommend on here a few years ago and we all love it in our house. I am pretty sure I got it for about 25 on black friday. You put the milk in and microwave it with the lid off until you get the temperature you require then put the chocolate in and give it a good shake. My DD prefers this to her Aunts velvitiser chocolate. We like it with chocolate drops or standard hot chocolate powder. To make it look more special for a present I made a hot chocolate hamper with a few different types of chocolate and the candy cane hot chocolate spoons from home bargains.

Now we didn't like this one, the chocolate drops didn't all fully melt and I'll be honest it felt a bit dangerous. I accidentally forgot to pop the lid in once nearly had an explosion.

I recently ordered this procook one as a gift for someone so can't comment on how good it is but I liked that it was all washable unlike the hotel chocolate one. I only paid £49 as they had an offer on. Sorry for long link not figured out how to do short link on the app

I second @nickdrakeslovechild. The chocolate shaker is fab. No waiting for it to cool down to make a second cup, which I understand you may have to do with the velvertiser. It makes a proper mug full of hot chocolate.

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 01/11/2024 22:22

Sorry @imnottoofussed didn’t see your post before commenting on the shaker.
My choc drops melt if I put up to 5 teaspoons in, but anymore and they don’t fully melt. I just scoop them out and eat what’s left 😋

Has anyone heard good things bout Harry's razors and foam set ?

They have got their trial set on again .
Razor and foam for just £3.95 delivery.

DS uses them all the time, I originally got that starter set for his stocking a few years ago.

DD’s favourite thing we put in a university care package last year.

PurpleSkittle · 01/11/2024 22:37

Some good discounts on a range of Lego sets at Game.

Icannotremembermyusername · 01/11/2024 22:38

Need help! Can anyone recommend a really good pair of gauntlet gardening gloves that can actually be used to protect against rose thorns and brambles? Only thing on DH Xmas list

I’m sorry I don’t have anything useful to add but the posts confusing nutcrackers that crack nuts with nutcracker decorations have really tickled me 😂

Blessedbethefruitz · 01/11/2024 22:52

Ariana grande cloud perfume people - is it the pink or the blue that smells like marshmallows please? I've lived my life in one fragrance but I get nose blind trying things in stores!

My first thought!

FIL has one called ‘Davy Crackit’ in the shape of a squirrel 🐿️.

Thank you to whoever posted the peppa bath toys! Fab gift for the litttlest I'm struggling with.

Now just to wait and see if the microscope is still that price tomorrow when I can chat to the other half!

ChippedNail · 01/11/2024 22:57

Sorry if it's already been mentioned, TKMaxx had these Magic Mixies in store reduced from £85 to £29.99. RRP is ridiculous but reduction might make it seem more reasonable if on a wishlist

And some places have them for £24.99 😊

PD20 works on some of the nail polishes on there as well as on the toys.

No I'm not tolerating this, Christmas nutcrackers don't actually crack nuts? Wtf?! I mean little flimsy types for tree decorations obviously won't. But I always assumed the taller solid ones did, in their mouths?! Why are they even called nutcrackers if they don't actually crack nuts. Oh man my world has changed today. And I don't know it's in a good way

Relative of mine has a Margaret thatcher nut cracker. It seemed like a bit of a gimmick but is actually surprisingly good at cracking nuts.

Didyeaye · 01/11/2024 23:19

I’m soooo tempted by the kenwood stand mixer at Argos. £180 though and I don’t need it. But I want it!
also ordering younger DD the Melissa&doug dentists at a bargain £17.50 and the bargain mixies lamp.

does anyone have an this voucher they don’t need that might convince me to treat myself? ;)
