@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Don't forget to check Monzo account for cashback offers in the app: you'd be surprised at what retailers you get offered... places like Vinted or H&M or big online luxury department stores. Scroll down your app to find the cashback offer bit and 'add them' to activate. You just use your Monzo card to pay as normal, you don’t have to go through a link and it means you can double up if going via Quidco/topcashback, or using discounts!

I dawdled on the ankler headphones and now they have gone back up to full price, has anyone seen any other offers on some noise cancelling headphones?

They will go back down in price for Black Friday later this month if you can wait that long. They are great (I assume you mean the sound core ones) We have two pairs and love them.

Dogmatix34 · 01/11/2024 17:35

Have the Hot diamond codes stopped working? I ordered a necklace which is now OOS. They emailed me offering a refund and have given me £50 loyalty points which I was happy with but I couldn’t get the code to work for a different outlet item. Was it SALE50?

Everybodysaycheese · 01/11/2024 17:36

@alfiebest could I take this please if still available? I am going to order my new baby a santa sack to match her siblings.

BoilingHotand50something · 01/11/2024 17:39

@IlovePond thank you for the JL tip off. Just used my £10 against some Charlotte Tilbury perfume samples that were reduced and will be ideal for the DDs advent calendars.

User170451 · 01/11/2024 17:40

Does anyone have an Argos code they won’t be using? I’m spending £140

dancemom · 01/11/2024 17:43

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior

Also saw these which I assume are an older version?

Re teen make up, I’d book a session at a Charlotte Tilbury counter after Christmas and let them get properly matched for foundation, then you have something to look forward to and a gift - wrap an appointment card or something. You may have a better eye than I do but I wouldn’t dare risk foundation without trying it.

QOD · 01/11/2024 17:49

Re teen make up Mac always used to do a thing where you could book a £50/£25 make up session based on eyes or can’t quite recall and then after, you had the £50/£25 in credit to buy some products. Did that for my dd when she needed to look 16 for a mosh pit lol

Ditto for my 14 year old so I have the same question. My research so far has led me to shortlist either the Byoma Barrier Boosting Heroes set or Elf Skin Hydrayed mini set (both £20) for the skincare to try. Any thoughts?
I’ve bought the Benefit mascara duo that was the EE bargain a few threads back. Plus the P Louise eyebrow gel and lip kits.
I’m left with some sort of face makeup - like concealer and powder/light foundation for her complexion I think. She’s very pale and has a tendency to sensitive skin so it has to be light and mild. If anyone has tips that would be welcome.

I would definitely go with Byoma. My teen was not impressed with the Elf skin care. I would also suggest visiting a Clarins counter as they may make a trial kit up for her to try for free.
My DD likes Maybeline concealer, with the spongy top and Elf Halo Glow in the lightest shade. Also likes the Elf setting spray in the green bottle. Elf make up is really good, she also uses the bronzer. Another favourite is Rare Beauty Blush and Summer Fridays lip balm

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/11/2024 18:07

im cross with Asda rewards as the loo roll this week and the Ariel last week sold out in minutes. Don’t put such a good dealon Without stocking up.
could not see the pouches in my store either so imo don’t make a special trip

IlovePond · 01/11/2024 18:10

You’re most welcome @BoilingHotand50something It’s always good to get a bargain!

I mean @PurpleSkittler! 🤦‍♀️

They are both me! 😂 I had to make a different name to use on my phone instead of the laptop. Haven't quite understood why, but I just added an 'r' onto the end of my usual username (in the hope no-one would be eagle-eyed enough to notice). Sorry for the confusion! And thanks for your help 🙏

Maybe look for a tinted moisturiser rather than a full foundation if she doesn’t need full coverage? You could look at brands like maybelline for that, or if you want to spend a bit more Kylie blurring skin tint

Didn’t work for me the other day

PumpkinSpicedTea · 01/11/2024 18:56

@Dogmatix34 i think the hot diamonds was a limited time. Was about to say it was just the weekend but have realised it's Friday already 🙃

rhubarbhandsoap · 01/11/2024 19:00

Cult Beauty are doing 3 for 2 on Benefit mascaras and blushers, and it stacks with a decent free gift of six products in a make-up bag for spending £50.

(All added automatically in the basket.)

Benefit is popular with teens too.

Dolphintrainer · 01/11/2024 19:13

Thank you so much for the teen skincare and makeup advice. It’s been so helpful to me! Especially @Donsyb @Mentaldays @QOD @OatFlatWhiteForMePlease @Summerdew@Beingacatbed @Londonmummy66 @Elphaba17

I’m pretty sure these are the ones I bought last year and I still have t had to charge them. They’re great!

MrsByridge · 01/11/2024 19:48

@evtheria I didn't mean it had to be specifically a nutcracker nutcracker (if you know what I mean Grin). I like the look of the little toadstool one, though disappointed with what @RainbowZebraWarrior says about them cracking! Shame! I'll keep looking!

@Travelcrazy ’do you have a kink for the Loccitane’ made me laugh too hard 😂.

@Reastie , surely this must be the next thread title?

HopefulBeliever · 01/11/2024 20:03

These look like good deals if you have anyone you’re buying for into hair care or skin care (or if you just need a treat)! Both on Lookfantastic. Couldn’t find from searching but if you click on their Black Friday link on homepage then refine by brand you should find them.
