@NobodyGivesADamn thanks for the title

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Not sure if you meant one that looks like the traditional soldier, but Solstrene Grene sells a cute one like a toadstool, hand sized. You put the nut inside and screw down the toadstool top until the nut cracks. I saw it in store, but can see it's sold on many sites via google.

There are a lot of images via online reviews of these breaking.

I'd be wary tbh with a 4 year old. The metal nutcrackers are dangerous and the wooden ones can splinter.

Do you have a budget in mind?

Not really, I'd rather go mid range I think to avoid anything too cheap and potentially bad for her skin, but not super expensive so that if she doesn't like it it's not a total waste of money.

My 15yr old daughter, who has previously had zero interest in make up or skincare, declared last night that she'd like to try some new looks out. I was thinking I could put a hamper together for her, but I don't really know where to start! Any suggestions on good products for teen skin, and any nice bits for a starter in make-up?

Ditto for my 14 year old so I have the same question. My research so far has led me to shortlist either the Byoma Barrier Boosting Heroes set or Elf Skin Hydrayed mini set (both £20) for the skincare to try. Any thoughts?
I’ve bought the Benefit mascara duo that was the EE bargain a few threads back. Plus the P Louise eyebrow gel and lip kits.
I’m left with some sort of face makeup - like concealer and powder/light foundation for her complexion I think. She’s very pale and has a tendency to sensitive skin so it has to be light and mild. If anyone has tips that would be welcome.

Melissa and Doug Sandwich Toy Shop back down to £25 on Amazon and Argos

evtheria · 01/11/2024 14:37

@RainbowZebraWarrior Good catch! What a shame, I'd have bought one myself as we have a metal nutcracker (and like you mentioned, not great for children to use).

Byoma is popular in that age group and Boots have several gift sets in their 3 for 2 Xmas range. I’d go with some of that, some lip gloss, mascara and make up remover and then maybe a Boots or Superdrug gift card so she can go try out some foundation/blusher/eyeshadow herself to see what suits her skin tone.

For mascara DD and her friends all love the maybelline sky high mascara.

IlovePond · 01/11/2024 14:45

Hi, for anyone who has a JL £10 skincare reward due to expire, don’t forget that there is no minimum spend.

I went to JL today to redeem mine and got this for free.

Whilst I was at it, I redeemed my reward free breakfast roll and got a coffee from the attached Waitrose, whilst buying a bit of veg.

Got to love JL sometimes!

My two (22 and 20) like Byoma - there are some starter sets on Cult Beauty for £15 and 15% off your first order - plus there may well be some other codes floating around. Sam Farmer is also meant to be good for teen skin https://samfarmer.co/shop

Just to say I ordered my Cuisinart Mini Prep Prop very late Monday night and it's arrived today.
I didn't receive any communication after my order confirmation email.

FakeGucciSweater · 01/11/2024 15:41

Apologies for the screenshot but this is Tesco online - I know a lot of people were looking for these cute little food plushes elsewhere and I've just spotted these when doing my online shop. No idea what the quality is like or anything but thought they might appeal to some!

Sorry I now can't find it. Can someone remind me of the karaoke machine?

IlovePond · 01/11/2024 15:54

Lego Simba at Game inside HoF today for £92. I don’t know if this is a good price, but I vaguely remember someone on here asking about one recently.

They also had reductions on games and other LEGO, plus 20% off full price items except PS5 and XBox consoles.

bluesky · 01/11/2024 15:56

There are some great Xmas tree earrings for £5 in www.hollyhocksjewellery.com FIVER FRIDAY Offer. I've bought from her before, great quality

bluesky · 01/11/2024 15:58

Flash sale for 48 hours only with www.bloomremedies.co.uk. Up to 40% off, skin care, aroma wellbeing, I'd put it all on my Xmas list, bought as gifts last year, smell gorgeous

Beingacatbed · 01/11/2024 16:08

@Lidlisthebusiness my dd15 uses the ordinary (some bits currently on offer on boots) its trendy but also has done wonders for her skin!
make up wise she likes Elf which is quite budget friendly and often on offer on amazon or boots. For fancier stuff she would like mac, charlotte tilbury and is very keen to get black honey lipstick from clinique.

alfiebest · 01/11/2024 16:32

I have a 10% off handmade Christmas company code if anyone wants it (excludes hampers) I twitched and got my other daughter a Santa sack to match her sisters and they’ve just sent me this through. Can Pm if of use to anyone

dancemom · 01/11/2024 16:50

I dawdled on the ankler headphones and now they have gone back up to full price, has anyone seen any other offers on some noise cancelling headphones?

Beautifulsunflowers · 01/11/2024 16:58

For those of you who missed out on the nespresso machine, Tesco had the dulce gousto mini machine reduced to £36 from £56. They have a wide selection of pods that can be bought at supermarkets and include Costa and Starbucks pods also. They also do galaxy hot chocolate which is delicious!

@Lidlisthebusiness and @Dolphintrainer teen DD and her mates all like BYOMA, the Ordinary and Glow recipe for skincare.

Basic make up bag I would look at a primer, light foundation, concealer, setting spray, blush, mascara, eyebrow gel or wax, lip liner and lip gloss.

DD uses a mix of brands including Revolution, Benefit, Rare beauty, Summer Friday, Charlotte Tilbury and Nars.

stepfordwifey · 01/11/2024 17:12

My Space NK hair crackers came and they are really lovely. Beautiful packaging not your usual flimsy cardboard. Look like a quality gift.
Also ordered a few things from Jaques of London with 25% off. They are beautifully wrapped! Can't see the contents but reviews are really good so confident they will be fine.
Bought a cornhole set for the summer. Great family game based on throwing bean bags into a hole and scoring.

friskybivalves · 01/11/2024 17:27

I have just come across a Look Fantastic code which seems to be giving 21% off quite a lot of things - not sure if it stacks. VCLF21. It works with a nice Clinique Black Honey gift set for example - takes it down from £28 to £22.12.
