Feeling quite delighted to have most of the dc’s shopping done and under €500 so far! I can tend to go crazy at Christmas 😬

I have spent €436 so far. And I have bought

DD11
Jumper
Nike leggings
Sephora goodies -bath bombs, lip gloss, hair oil, travel containers.
Initialled Glass cup
Small panda bag for accessories
Panda Teddy
Sanitary wear bag
Slushy maker
New York jigsaw
Eiffel Tower puzzle
Socks
MGA miniverse set
Full length Mirror for her bedroom
clothes rail for her bedroom
Small panda ornament
Panda hair towel
Panda face mitt
Nintendo sports game
Nintendo sports accessory pack

DS9
Hoody
Lion teddy
Elephant teddy
Football pen Holder
Vbucks voucher
Fidget popper game
Darts board

I still have a good bit to get for DS though he is getting a PlayStation (second hand) and a game and couple of Lego sets.

DD is pretty much done I might pop into primark and get some baskets for the bottom shelf of the clothes rail and pjs etc

Have you totalled your spend so far?

Op I have not even started yet!

I admire your organisation!

Ilovelurchers · 20/10/2024 16:58

I haven't kept a track unfortunately - given that I am trying to get better at budgeting I probably really should have! I only have one child and I would estimate that I spend maybe up to £200 on her - but perhaps if I totalled it up I would be horrified!

So thanks for posting this - it's given me food for though!

Stormyweatheroutthere · 20/10/2024 16:58

I bought a neighbour a calender for £1.99. .. Quite proud of myself!

Samanabanana · 20/10/2024 17:00

Why does your DD have so much more than your DS? Shock

purplebeansprouts · 20/10/2024 17:00

Why are you bragging about how much you've spent??

And assuming this "Sanitary wear bag" is something to keep period products in I don't think that's a gift that should be given at christmas rather if she could do with one just give it to her now

WonderingWanda · 20/10/2024 17:00

Oh god, nothing except a tin of quality streets yet. I have ds's birthday to get out of the way and then for dc they both seem to change their minds as often as the wind so I normally leave there's a bit closer. I need to start buying for the relatives but have no clue what to get anyone this year.

Good point, entirely missed that bit Blush

I’m not done for him yet…and he’s getting a PlayStation which is a big gift I suppose. I will get him a few other little bits too.

Is this euros @Positivenancy ???

Is it for 2 kids?

If so, then that's quite impressive. Not too much at all.

I bet you will buy more though! It's 9 weeks away. Your DC will definitely want something else!

Sugarcoldturkey · 20/10/2024 17:03

Oookay, clearly the consumerism god is strong in your household.

Edited to add: I see from the comments that other posters think it is a normal… so maybe I'm the one being unreasonable.

But I wouldn't buy them even half so much. I'd encourage the kids to save up and get themselves stuff during the year out of their own pocket money. I'd only buy two or three gifts for Xmas, though sure, these could be expensive. It's more the number of gifts I find unreasonable rather than the exact expense.

I’m not bragging just a bit proud…sorry if that offends you. The sanitary wear bag is cute and she loves that kind of stuff! She doesn’t NEED it yet but she’s 11 so she probably will at some point.

Yes they used the euro sign. I think that's LOADS to spend personally.

PeloMom · 20/10/2024 17:04

I’ve done my kid’s Xmas shopping and haven’t spent more than $100 as he gets lots from grandparents and uncles too so no point accumulating more clutter; however we don’t consider clothing gifts- we buy as needed so about half the stuff you’ve gotten it wouldn’t even register to him that is a gift.

Read the op.... she explains that!

CeeJay81 · 20/10/2024 17:05

I'm cutting back this year and giving dd a hand me down present. She's having ds's old xbox one. Your version of cutting back is probably more than I spend normally though.

Around £180 on each child? You think that's LOADS?

purplebeansprouts · 20/10/2024 17:07

Ok ill try and take it in the spirit I hope you intended. My two team step daughters are getting ! Fancy mascara gift set each £25 x 2 and the DC is getting a new duvet set and a small lego set.

Why is Christmas shopping in October something to be proud of?
