Feeling quite delighted to have most of the dc’s shopping done and under €500 so far! I can tend to go crazy at Christmas 😬

I have spent €436 so far. And I have bought

DD11
Jumper
Nike leggings
Sephora goodies -bath bombs, lip gloss, hair oil, travel containers.
Initialled Glass cup
Small panda bag for accessories
Panda Teddy
Sanitary wear bag
Slushy maker
New York jigsaw
Eiffel Tower puzzle
Socks
MGA miniverse set
Full length Mirror for her bedroom
clothes rail for her bedroom
Small panda ornament
Panda hair towel
Panda face mitt
Nintendo sports game
Nintendo sports accessory pack

DS9
Hoody
Lion teddy
Elephant teddy
Football pen Holder
Vbucks voucher
Fidget popper game
Darts board

I still have a good bit to get for DS though he is getting a PlayStation (second hand) and a game and couple of Lego sets.

DD is pretty much done I might pop into primark and get some baskets for the bottom shelf of the clothes rail and pjs etc

Have you totalled your spend so far?

I think with the cost of living crisis this is in poor form boasting about money spent.
Not every parent can afford to spend anything near that

IsThisIt2021 · 20/10/2024 17:51

I have 3 DC.

i haven’t actually made a list of what I’ve bought and spent yet but I will be this week. Once I’ve done it, I’ll update you.

I have bought my eldest some Funko POP football figures and DC2 Funko POP Harry Potter figures. I’m going to get some display units for their room for these. They’ve both also got FC25 for the switch (had to buy 2, 1 each. 1 has ASD and sharing things like switch games is a big no)

Youngest has quite a few more gifts than they do at the moment but that’s because his don’t cost Ā£50 a game!

Yay it’s in the Christmas section šŸ„³šŸ„³šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Yeah we will do things too. Ice skating, light show, days out, the panto (hopefully). We will do plenty to be fair.

That sounds lovely!

Just answering this because i feel I have to. Just because I’ve spent what seems like a lot doesn’t mean I’m not affected by COL crisis. I’m a single parent. My dc are with me 50:50. I like to spoil them at Christmas. I don’t but toys or major gifts throughout the year…only at birthdays. They deserve everything they get.

I buy Christmas presents at Christmas time. I’ll start shopping first week in December maybe last week in November if something might sell out. I love the feel of shops at Christmas time. I’m always fascinated by early shoppers what if your children don’t like something or it doesn’t fit how do you exchange? Also wouldn’t regard sanitary bag, baskets for wardrobe etc as Christmas gifts

She would consider them gifts and that’s all that matters to me.

Most people don't buy gifts throughout the year

Sweet baby Jesus šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„

Don't go having notions now šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Op you've done great. The prices here in Ireland are feckin crazy, you've got a lot for your euros šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I swear I'll be organised each year, I don't and always regret it. I've noticed this year the kind of sales are early and sure you might as well buy the stuff now if you've the cash as it'll be full price plus more in December.

I think most Irish just bung the pressies under the tree or lay them out on the floor or couch, we're not the stocking type.

Well done and you can relax now, better not say how much days out and experiences cost here in Ireland, jaysus they'd have heart failure.

Freshersfluforyou · 20/10/2024 18:01

Is this all from you OP? Do you not have much extended family?
Otherwise surely they will end up with ridiculous volumes of stuff given grandparents, aunties/uncles etc would buy stuff also? And will they get each other a gift?

It does look a bit like you quite enjoy shopping for bits for your dd while your sons gets less thought/effort put in...

Personally i dont go too overboard on gifts from me as the kids get quite a few gifts from extended family.

Nothing wrong with being organised and buying gifts now. Also it's up to you whether you spend Ā£10 or Ā£1000 on xmas as it's your xmas and your budgets. I find it odd how people who post a xmas list and costs are pulled down by others bleating on about cost of living, boasting etc. If it triggers you that much stay away from xmas boards. Also the people commenting her son has not much clearly didnt read the bit where she stated she has other bits to get him šŸ™„

They will only get from their grandparents and One small gift from uncles/aunts. Those gifts are never under the tree.

Ah yes, buying bonkers amounts of presents - the true meaning of Christmas.

WhatsInTheRug · 20/10/2024 18:06

@Sugarcoldturkey

There's VERY few 'toys' mentioned in op that thread so no.... you were just seeing a chance to have a go and big yourself up by linking to some irrelevant research!

purplebeansprouts · 20/10/2024 17:39

The clothing rail yeah the full length mirror - disagree it's not an essential and potentially dangerous for a young teen

Dangerous? 🤣🤣🤣

Canonlythinkofthisone · 20/10/2024 18:07

Positivenancy · 20/10/2024 17:41

She is absolutely fine with getting a full length mirror. She just wants to see her full self before she leaves the house…like most normal people.

You're logic is not wanted here 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Blessedbethefruitz · 20/10/2024 18:08

I think yabu for no stocking - that's the best bit! Hunting down surprises they'll love that actually fit in a stocking! So much so I'm replacing my other family members gifts with stockings this year - 2 are off to Australia once I finish wrapping this week ;)

I'm with you, shop early and plan. But my kids birthdays are both January, and dp is between Xmas and New year, so needs must. I'm awaiting black friday for yoto accessories for dd2, and more inspiration for dp. But im mostly done, just waiting for last minute requests now. Yours are getting more than mine, but mine get things year round too. Ds5 has asked for a specific switch game, nothing else. Dd2 has asked for a yellow present.

WhatsInTheRug · 20/10/2024 18:08

StarSlinger · 20/10/2024 17:32

Never admit to giving your kids more than a lump of coal and a satsuma for Christmas on MN,

So true!!! This place is so odd at times!

No home grown pumpkins?? And why are you celebrating an arsonist!?

Only joking šŸ˜‚ just getting in before the serious, po faced pearl clutchers do!
