Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

Reastie · 18/10/2024 12:51

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I'm such an over thinker, are you putting your names on the labels or from "the XxxxxS" I've changed it so many times before ordering as don't know if I'll use a full set with one name on them 🤦🏻‍♀️

Edited

I put all our names on them.

I put

'Merry Christmas
Love from the Firths xxx

I love it because no writing loads of labels, I just stick it on and go!

Notlongnow1 · 23/10/2024 08:19

I skipped Merry Christmas to be able to put all our names. Didn't put family name as my husband is one of all boys so half the people we give to share the name!

Does anybody have a Biden code they don’t need? Or could add a referral code to the other thread?

thank you

i ended up with

Merry Xmas - love
Wib, Dib, Ds1 & Ds2 xx

as I wanted to put 4 names on rather than a surname as I didn’t change my name when we got married so it would just get confusing and messy.

All the people that will be getting presents with stickers will be close relatives so are going to know who it is that has given the present once they see the sticker, so very happy to miss out of scrawling everything but the recipients name on every present! 😄

The Gabby's Dollshouse Rainbow house is 47.49 on Amazon. £55- ish elsewhere so a good deal.

Thelifeofawife · 23/10/2024 09:13

Well done @bizzey it does take some getting used to linking things on here!

And funnily enough I was thinking about a kitchen blowtorch recently whilst daydreaming about making my own creme brûlée, so I’m off to have a look!

Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions for teenage boy hair products/styling products, aftershave and/or skincare please? Have no idea what’s good or socially acceptable 😬🤣

Cos1970 · 23/10/2024 09:25

My teenage DS has asked for stronger with you & Jean Paul gaultier aftershave this year. He usually uses bulldog skin care

TheRedheadMummy · 23/10/2024 09:39

Kinetic sand on sale on Amazon. 1 pack for £1.56 or 2 packs for £3.12. I just bought a few, perfect stocking fillers but also great birthday gifts too!

Bridal beauty has its festival goodie bags back in stock, previously sold out. I think its a limited amount, and its £30 for £150 worth of beauty and skin products from their sponsors at the event.

Thanks for this! I’m going to make my tween a beauty advent calendar (cheaper than the pre-made offerings!) so hopefully this will be a good start.

Are there any other £5 off Hobbycraft codes please? HC515 is now invalid and I don't need to buy £40 worth, TIA!

YeahWellWhyNot · 23/10/2024 10:26

@PoisedGoldBiscuit one was posted yesterday for £5 off £15 TIKTOK515 not sure if it's still working but worth a try

Trainstrike · 23/10/2024 10:26

Amelieloves has 25% off until midnight, automatically applied at checkout. She sells really nice Christmas and Halloween clothes, good for Disney and Swiftie fans, although I think she's in the process of taking those "inspired" ranges down now. I've had a few things from there and it's great quality, delivery can take a while though as it's made to order.

I can’t see ANY of those @InDreamland

Were they just in the normal sale section, or somewhere else?
