Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Could I please ask for suggestions for creative, arty presents for a 7 year old girl - her birthday is just after Christmas so lots to buy.

My DD got a tie dye kit for her 7th birthday from a friend and it was a massive hit, how about something like that and some plain T-shirts? We just bought a couple of different white ones from primark.

MadeForThis · 22/09/2024 19:40

She will love all those ideas. Thanks!!

ImTheMidsomerMurderer · 22/09/2024 20:01

@ApiratesaysYarrr yes of course, how do I send it privately though 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have no clue.

ImTheMidsomerMurderer · 22/09/2024 20:07

@poostinkywink Sorry Poo, my mum used the 2nd one. 😕

No problem 😊 I’m looking for a gift set of men’s aftershave/ear de toilette miniatures or one regular sized bottle for sub £20 for my nephew. He does designer fragrances 🙄

Not very glamorous but my two but had almost instant results with Revolution Skincare 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc Blemish & Pore Refining Serum. It's full price is £6 but very often on offer.

I can also recommend this serum. It seems to eradicate any breakout my dd has in just a few hours. It's amazing for teen skin. It's really cheap on Amazon and I get extra off via subscribe and save

@poostinkywink I've sent the code to you 😊 My mum didn't use it. Hope you find something for your nephew.

This serum is currently £3.99 on Amazon. Nice little stocking filler

Not sure if already answered but popular voucher event on Tuesday 8th October 2024 followed by a sale on Tuesday 15th October 2024

Sorry if I’m being daft, but what is the voucher event?

Sorry to hijack is this any good for adults? I've started to randomly get spots which I haven't had for years.

I have a Blue light card, and it can be hit and miss I find, so I just use the app and search for the company before I buy a thing now! Sometimes you have to buy a voucher - like LEGO you buy a gift card that costs 5% less than the amount you want it for. Often small savings but they add up!

If you have the Asda app you can add it on there and get 10% back into your cashpot on your spend on fresh food (I think it is) it’s often not a lot per shop but does add up

Hullabalooza · 22/09/2024 21:24

Two children with a teacher and two TAs in each class- costs can mount up for six gifts- so I usually go to the range and pick up a festive candle holder for about £2/3, then a multipack of festive tea lights and put one in each before wrapping them. It’s something I’d appreciate.

I got these for my daughter, she loved them

ruralwanderer · 22/09/2024 21:55

Thanks all, just rechecked my amazon account and my books are due on the 2nd November.

@sonyo thanks for the Rex London heads up, I've sorted the kids stocking fillers now and found loads of things that I love, ready for when my mum asks what to get for me 😁

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 22/09/2024 22:04

For those wanting the Adam Frost book it is also £2 on Argos. Only in stock in certain stores but I got lucky.

44PumpLane · 22/09/2024 22:08

@ChristmasMad1 educational games for a 4 year old (and upwards) I'd recommend "Smart Games" that I tend to get on Amazon and they sometimes have decent deals on.

The product specs usually have the dimensions on but you may be able to buy it from Amazon in the recipient country to save yourself having to package up.

My two have a bear in the woods game and a penguin game from Smart Games, and I just bought my Goddaughter a wooden Prince and Princess game for ages 4+

They basically have a booklet with a series of "challenges" in that start off easy and get more challenging- they are good fun!

ruralwanderer · 22/09/2024 17:01

Has anybody received their book yet? I ordered two copies over a week ago and still nothing, though other parcels from Amazon have arrived the next day as usual.

Mine have arrived - several weeks after ordering (although it was indicated when I ordered that it would take that long). They look great. Fab presents.

44PumpLane · 22/09/2024 22:16

@ChristmasMad1

Here is one of the Smart Games I mentioned, it won't let me edit my other post! They also have travel booklet games for a tenner that may be good alongside something else.
