Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@44PumpLane Those look perfect for my son (5), he has that kind of brain. Do they ever go on offer do you know?

Edit - sorry I see you say there are sometimes offers, thanks!!

I can also recommend this serum. It seems to eradicate any breakout my dd has in just a few hours. It's amazing for teen skin. It's really cheap on Amazon and I get extra off via subscribe and save

oops quoted wrong person

Sorry to hijack is this any good for adults? I've started to randomly get spots which I haven't had for years.

My mum is in her mid 70s and also rates it.

WingingIt101 · 22/09/2024 23:26

Hello!

Thanks for all the tips so far.
I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for bargainous kinetic sand?

And also make your own Christmas cracker kits that are pretty / good size!

Lastly (sorry!) I'm looking for bargain bedding sets please!

Thank you all in advance wonderful bargain hunters!

psuedocream3 · 22/09/2024 23:44

Sorry wouldn't usually ask here as I know it's for bargains not requests but I'm at a complete loss...

My son is obsessed with Beetlejuice, completely obsessed. Has anyone seen any stocking fillers or toys anywhere? He loves the Sandwood, beetlejuxie and the shrunken head guy but I don't want Chinese faces off temu/aliexpress etc. There must be places that sell official merch.

Super grateful for any advice

I've never seen huge savings to be honest, but a few quid off here and there. But they really are great edu-tainment style games!

I think it was someone on one of the earlier threads that recommended signing up for the Amazon Shopper panel. Thank you to whoever it was, as I have just been accepted. I have earned the grand total of 25p for completing a survey and am ridiculously pleased with myself 😹

How do you do this please?

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/09/2024 07:19

@woodwaj not sure if you got an answer but imo it’s not suitable for an experienced gardener. I got it for my dm and she is ahead of alot of the stuff

woodwaj · 23/09/2024 07:44

@lifelongfrugaleer I did actually decide against it. I didn't think she would use the recipes either!

GameOfJones · 23/09/2024 08:15

Found you all! I swear these threads are moving more quickly this year!

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/09/2024 08:16

@woodwaj ditto. I’m actually going to return it

@ChristmasMad1 educational games for a 4 year old (and upwards) I'd recommend "Smart Games" that I tend to get on Amazon and they sometimes have decent deals on.

The product specs usually have the dimensions on but you may be able to buy it from Amazon in the recipient country to save yourself having to package up.

My two have a bear in the woods game and a penguin game from Smart Games, and I just bought my Goddaughter a wooden Prince and Princess game for ages 4+

They basically have a booklet with a series of "challenges" in that start off easy and get more challenging- they are good fun!

Thank you so much never heard of these! Will definitely check it out

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/09/2024 08:32

Thanks for the Oliver Bonas reminder and to set up an account and get the £5 credit ... this worked on a sale item so I've just got a lovely Secret Santa gift if a cockatiel trinket dish was £12.50, for £3.95 delivered! I'm so chuffed and all the possible recipients will love it.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/09/2024 08:37

Adam Frost Gardening book still available on Amazon although delivery could take up until early November. That's still fine for Christmas Grin thanks to the fab OP for that one!

MayaTheBusyBee · 23/09/2024 08:42

These vintage lights in Rex sale are super cute.

Sorry to ask but if anyone has an argos code spare I would really appreciate it, spending £70 x

My dd is going travelling next year. Does anyone have any “essential” ideas that we can get her or have seen bargainous pack packs or packing cubes?

Some microfibre travel towels would be useful - this is the type of thing I plan to buy for our niece. Though I'll probably wait for Prime Day/Black Friday as it is the type of thing to be on offer then. Watch the price now so you know what's a good deal.

  • A quick dry towel is a great one (just looked at microfibre beach towels on amazon and there are a few on sale)
  • Portable charger
  • Perhaps a cooling neck tie?
  • An anti theft cross body bag or money belt
  • A home made first aid kit with blister plasters, insect repellant, after bite, antibacterial wipes and gel, hangover cures, vitamins
  • A journal and pen
  • Travel cutlery set
  • Depending on where she's going someone bought me a solar panel I could put outside my backpack when walking around so I could charge my phone which was handy in some of the more rural places. But didn't use it much in cities as it's very easy to find charging points these days.
Ilovepugs2017 · 23/09/2024 09:31

Anyone got an Argos code please? One of our chairs has just broken on our dining table 😔

psuedocream3 · 23/09/2024 10:05

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells Beetlejuice toys?

Talisin · 23/09/2024 10:08

@psuedocream3 There are various Beetlejuice Funko pops and official merch like this sort of thing
