Reastie · 21/09/2024 11:08

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Notino sent me 2 £5 discount codes that can be used when spending over £18 ( but not on the discovery boxes ) if it's any good to anyone?

Could I have one please?

Has anybody received their book yet? I ordered two copies over a week ago and still nothing, though other parcels from Amazon have arrived the next day as usual.

Purrcats · 22/09/2024 17:02

@ThatshallotBaby thank you for the Adam Frost recommendation. That’s the FIL and DC teacher sorted for Christmas.

Fuckingfuckssake · 22/09/2024 17:03

Does anyone have a spare Argos code please? Spending £50, i'd appreciate it.

@ruralwanderer it has an estimated dispatch time of 1 to 2 months on the current listing. Check your order confirmation. It usually gives you an expected delivery date

Could I please ask for suggestions for creative, arty presents for a 7 year old girl - her birthday is just after Christmas so lots to buy.

PaintMeARiver · 22/09/2024 17:41

I recently did this with my 8 year old and she really enjoyed it. And you end up with something that is actually nice too. Not cheap but if you leave things in your basic for a day or so you usually get a 10% discount code.

LoveHearts69 · 22/09/2024 17:43

Okay sorry just catching up and I’m invested in the Notino fragrance gift sets. Was there a discount code on top of these or is it just that they’re a bargain anyway? Apologies I can’t find the original post now!

If you still have one, please may I use it?

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 22/09/2024 18:04

@LoveHearts69 I've just had a look back (it was the last thread 😱 could have swore it was this one! How fast are we getting through these!)

I think a user called tiredboredgay originally posted about them (apologies if that's wrong!) but I can't see the comment as Mumsnet have pulled them while 'looking behind the scenes'.

From memory, I don't think there was a particular offer and it's just that they're cheap already but I would say, Notino is on TopCashBack so go through there first 😊 the sample bottles are bigger than ones I've got previously from elsewhere too.

Sorry my question isn’t Christmas related but I thought you lovely ladies might be able to help. I’ve seen before the bubble skincare mentioned is it good for sensitive skin? My 11 year old has started getting forehead spots and we have tried simple and Cerave but she says they both sting her face

Not very glamorous but my two but had almost instant results with Revolution Skincare 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc Blemish & Pore Refining Serum. It's full price is £6 but very often on offer.

Hi I'm new here but have been on threads in previous years 🙂 any good blue light card discounts around? I've just registered for a card as I'm a teacher. Can't seem to see much of use, mainly competitions and high minimum spend offers? Thanks 😊

Turtleoo · 22/09/2024 18:34

Re the Adam Frost gardening book, I ordered when it was first mentioned and got my book a couple of weeks later. Like others have said it seems to have a long lead time but I received it fine

Could I please ask for suggestions for creative, arty presents for a 7 year old girl - her birthday is just after Christmas so lots to buy.

My crafty 7yo is currently mad for these Eugy models which are £8.50 each at hobbycraft (they’re the size of a child’s palm) - I’m sure I’ve seen them on 3 for 2 in the past (maybe in school hols) so I’m waiting for a discount…

I have a Blue light card, and it can be hit and miss I find, so I just use the app and search for the company before I buy a thing now! Sometimes you have to buy a voucher - like LEGO you buy a gift card that costs 5% less than the amount you want it for. Often small savings but they add up!

Hi guys I need some ideas for my nephew for Xmas gifts, he's 4 and I want something fun (and maybe a bit educational) would like to stay around £30 for the gifts need urgently as need to send abroad. Also need a little gift £5 for a 1 year old (his brother)

Heartattack41 · 22/09/2024 19:15

@ChristmasMad1 how about a till and money and groceries or drs set. Stacking cups for 1 year old or bath toys.

These don't look much but they fly in the lightest of breeze & are really easy for 4yr olds to get up in the air.

We're often flying ours whilst the other people with the snazzy kites just can't get them to fly. So easy to store too.

ChristmasMad1 · 22/09/2024 19:24

Sorry should have clarified I need to fit both of the presents in a size of 61 x 46 x 46cm
