Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Sorry my question isn’t Christmas related but I thought you lovely ladies might be able to help. I’ve seen before the bubble skincare mentioned is it good for sensitive skin? My 11 year old has started getting forehead spots and we have tried simple and Cerave but she says they both sting her face

My local Waitrose had some great bargains yesterday. All the summer stuff and school holiday toys were in clearance.

I got an inflatable rainbow paddling pool reduced from £20 to £1.99 (we need a new one!), some Roald Dahl card games in a tin as stocking fillers (reduced to £1.99 from £9, there were 3 different games), and some less than half price Galt craft kits - foil art (£2.49) and make your own flower fairy lights (£3.99). They also had things like portable barbecues, picnic stuff, drinks bottles, gardening stuff etc that were heavily reduced.

I just got the travel magnetic tiles in my local TK Maxx - there were two sets of 13 tiles for £6.99 but I found this set of 30 for £12.99 - it was in with the books. I couldn't see any more but was trying not to look too hard as I had DS with me!

For people that are ordering the Adam frost book, would you say its for beginner gardeners? My mum is a very keen gardener and I'm not sure if this will be right for her!

I'd say it would offer something to all gardeners. It also has some beautiful pictures. Here's a photo of the contents and also one of the recipe pages (I think there are around 20 pages of recipes from Plum gin to apple and blackberry crumble)
