Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Teacher Ideas

DS has just gone into year 2 and has 1 teacher & a teaching assistant.

This year we're collectively as a class not doing the joint thing so ideas my way needed!! It's only been a few weeks so I know nothing about his teacher. Any ideas that might go down well and not the usual wine, chocolates??
I'd like something a bit more thoughtful ❤️

Thank you all xx

How about forcing some hyacinths or paperwhites? Fairly cheap and easy but effective. I think I might do that for DD’s teacher this year. In previous years I’ve done socks and chocolate, candles, personalised bunting, prints for the classroom and vouchers for a local cafe.

For Lego, if all else fails they always have a promotion nearer Christmas where spending x amount on Lego means you get a free small Christmas bonus set.

From memory, spending £220 meant a free set that sold for around £35 ish on eBay.

I'm looking at ordering some of the fragrance discovery boxes to give to a few teens from NOTINO Has anyone reciprocated theirs yet, do they look ok? Thanks

I ordered a different gift set from boots and it also arrived badly damaged, they refused to exchange it or do anything about it so I left a review and they deleted it!! I got sent an email saying it wasn’t valid as it was about the condition of the item rather than the performance of it!

That's awful. I can't understand why they are getting it so wrong and how they are allowed to ignore consumer laws

I think it was someone on one of the earlier threads that recommended signing up for the Amazon Shopper panel. Thank you to whoever it was, as I have just been accepted. I have earned the grand total of 25p for completing a survey and am ridiculously pleased with myself 😹

Just wondering if anyone has one if these and if they’re any good? My daughter really wants one but I’m suspicious of reviews on Amazon sometimes!

Jazzjazzyjulez · 22/09/2024 10:36

If anyone is looking for Sonny Angels in the UK. I’ve found some on Petite Belle. Took me ages to find any in stock for my daughter.

I’ve stuck a refer a friend code on the referral board. Its says its a £25 coupon but tbh I’m not sure what it gets you or I! But worth a try if you are buying anything anyway!

ThatshallotBaby · 22/09/2024 10:38

@Crimsonbow Thank you for the Molton Brown tip, would you mind sharing how you got your deal please? I can only see sets of two for £60 or similar!

Valentte diffusers and wax melts offer

I was introduced to Valentte on this thread last year and love them now. Their diffusers, candles and wax melts smell amazing, they are beautifully packaged and they are very reasonably priced.

Two offers caught my eye. This Christmas wax melts set is only £5.40 and is beautifully boxed. With a china wax burner from the pound shop it would make a fab present.

This offer is £16.95 for two diffusers and a soap.

We don't have that exact one, but they are all much of a muchness I think. Ours was around £10 from B&M about 4 years ago and it's still going strong (we use it at craft fairs)

Thank you ☺️ £10 sounds like a much better price! We don’t have a b&m near us but I’ll keep hunting

Those interested in Molton Brown, there is a TSV on 2nd October which might be worth waiting for.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/09/2024 11:20

Thanks@Nospecialcharactersplease i shall wait.

Thelifeofawife · 22/09/2024 11:24

@Goldenphoenix Thanks for the Valentte offers. I’ve ordered from them a few times and will definitely buy something from this offer. The packaging is lovely and makes a great gift.

I got a wax melt set last year, it was a lovely little gift for my DSis.

Also, last year when they did the deals for 2 diffusers, I ordered a few and split them into different boxes to keep the cost down.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 22/09/2024 11:28
