Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@sorryiasked - Boots have some discounts on Clarins, but they seem to have stopped the 25% discount they were doing yesterday, (which is annoying!)

I still have the Clarins double serum set in my basket for £46.75, reduced from £92 - it shows up if you google double serum on the Boots site.

Has anyone seen any of those magnetic tiles on offer? I need a set each for DS and nephew.

I bought this set of 125 magnetic tiles, mentioned on a previous thread, there's still a £20 voucher you can tick to take them down to £39.99

Amazon magnetic tiles

@LoveHearts69 - I too am about to go back on Whistlefish to order Christmas cards (my birthday cards arrived today).

I've used Whistlefish a few times before, and with their offers I honestly believe they can the beaten for quality and price - you couldn't get a comparable card in the shop for what they work out to each. As @PurpleSkittle said, I don't work for them, but would always highly recommend them!

Rockhopper81 · 28/09/2024 15:01

*can't be beaten

Lakeland code hopefully someone will benefit from it.

Heads up Aldi wooden toy event is Thursday 10th October.
Thursday 3rd October they have a mini verse mini maker for £6.99 which maybe a good stocking filler, they also have stackable plushes for £9.99.

Like someone’s just mentioned, Aldi have their wooden toy event from Thursday 10th October and they usually do a cute very reasonably priced kitchen!

@Vimaybe
We have the expensive Magnatiles and in my opinion, not worth their cost at all! Smyth's do a cheaper brand for like £19.99 which may be just as good or even better!

DuBoo · 28/09/2024 15:39

What is the ‘trending’/popular beauty or brands for tweens?

Is it all still bum bum cream or is there a new brand that they all want?

Thanks!

poostinkywink · 28/09/2024 15:41

I can’t remember if the Quality Street coffee creams were on here- but I found Waitrose selling whole boxes 😱 £5.50

Bloody Heritage of Scotland are looking for £8 for standard delivery! Anyone know of any free delivery tips? Or, alternatively, and good sources of Harry Potter bits and pieces that don't cost an arm and a leg? We were in a HP shop yesterday where it was £10 for a pen and £16 for a lined notebook. £55 for a piece of-- brown hollow plast--ic wand!

The Works and Pound Fun. Lots of little cheap bits in both.

Vimaybe · 28/09/2024 15:47

Thank you @Comeoutside that was one of my other questions. I'm assuming all the cheaper brands are near enough the same and will still work with other magnetic tiles?

Whothefuckdoesthat · 28/09/2024 15:50

There is a Beast Lab reptile playset for £45 down from £90 in Argos. My friend bought one for her DS last year and said it’s an absolute waste of money because the stuff you need runs out so quickly, but if anyone has a DC who is desperate for one, the saving might make it easier to swallow.

Sainsburys toy sale hasn’t started yet, I got one there last year for a really good price

Some "black friday" discounts on this page (they're also about 5% on TopCashBack). Definitely not the cheapest (other posters have mentioned farmfoods and tkmaxx for bargains) and I don't know about the quality from experience, but I've ordered some for DS2 so I hope they're not crap! 🫣

EXCLUSIVE CLEARANCE DEALS.

Magformers mega sale - up to 50% of magnetic construction toys. Huge discounts off award-winning STEM toys, contruction toys. UK and Ireland only. Black Friday toy deals.

@Vimaybe
I don't know if they would work with other brands as we only have the branded Magnatiles ones, but they are not particularly strong magnets in our experience.

Dramallama24 · 28/09/2024 16:33

@MamaK19 aldi has its wooden toy event on 10th Oct, we got the toy kitchen from there 2yrs ago and it has generally held up well- and was so much cheaper than other brands!

thereiscustardinthejamtart · 28/09/2024 16:37

Thanks @PurpleSkittle for highlighting the whistlefish offers. I’ve seen the mentioned on here loads, but it was only when you mentioned beautiful packaging that I realised I had been confusing them with moonpig!

So, for the first time, I actually took a look and they look great! I got

  • 10 birthday cards,
  • 15 Christmas cards,
  • 2 beautiful looking tins each with 15 notelets (for my mum, inspired another poster upthread),
  • 10 free sheets of beautiful wrapping paper (they are doing 5 free with orders over £25, and each has 2 sheets),
  • and one luxury card, to take it over £25 for the wrapping paper offer

All for £25.65 delivered (£32, but code JOIN20 takes 20% off at checkout) and there was 4.25% cashback with TopCashback too!
