Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Reastie Title contender for the next thread. The one with the Grim Giftsets.

Someaddedsugar · 28/09/2024 06:45

If anyone has seen the Primark disco ball pumpkin in store please can you let me know 😊.

IamChipmunk · 28/09/2024 06:56

Some people have mentioned Harry Potter colour change hot chocolate.

Tesco have a set with a mug and the hot chocolate.

Not sure about in store but coming up for my online shop...
Not a bargain but likely to drop for Black Friday as they usually do with gift bits, if you can hold your nerve!

There is free delivery this weekend at Claudia Bradby (pearl jewellery), plus either:

20% off first orders with code WELCOME20, or
£10 off first orders with this referral link: https://claudiabradby.myshopify.com/a/rewards/r/e0a699bb

I don't imagine they would stack, but I guess you could try. Apologies for posting a referral link, I can edit and remove if it's against thread rules or etiquette!

Check out Claudia Bradby!

They are offering a special deal so you'll get a discount off your next purchase!

Bloody Heritage of Scotland are looking for £8 for standard delivery! Anyone know of any free delivery tips? Or, alternatively, and good sources of Harry Potter bits and pieces that don't cost an arm and a leg? We were in a HP shop yesterday where it was £10 for a pen and £16 for a lined notebook. £55 for a piece of-- brown hollow plast--ic wand!

redwinechocolateandsnacks · 28/09/2024 08:20

@weareallqueens totally feel your pain with Harry Potter shops. I tend to hunt in the supermarkets. Sainsburys usually have pens and notebooks, tesco, B&M and Dunelm is great for bigger things such as duvet covèrs and cushions. I also look on ebay.

Pedestriancrossing · 28/09/2024 08:23

@weareallqueens for Harry Potter bits, Boots have some cute Hogwarts houses themed bath and body stuff as part of 3 for 2

LadyPene · 28/09/2024 08:40

@weareallqueens Dunelm had some nice reasonably priced HP stuff. I was really tempted by loads of it.

Thanks all! Aye, I've seen the Dunelm stuff and am quite tempted. Looks like I'm going to have to shop about a bit then.

Does anyone remember where the whiskey tasting sets are usually from? They come up every year but I have never needed them before.

My husband regularly buys these from Drinks from the Dram.

They sell on Amazon and their own website. They definitely have regular offers, especially on Black Friday.

Home bargains have them too :)

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 28/09/2024 09:14

@Notdeckingthehalls when I was teaching my kids, we bought a beginners chest board from Amazon which had a leaflet in showing what pieces can move where. I think it may have even had the movements printed on the board too, beside the pieces . If you don't already have a chess set that is.

Just learning as we played worked well. Or if it's for your own child, i.e not a gift, perhaps draw the movements of each piece on A4 and stick it on a wall behind you so they can look up for guidance mid-play

Thank you. I don’t know how to play either so we will be learning together.

Really good discount on the Latest in Beauty advent calendar. £30 off, a free mystery box of 16 items, and free shipping.
You need to add the first mystery box and the accent calendar to your basket and use code ACMYSTERY30
I'd order it but they only ship to the UK

Home Bargains are good for Harry Potter, last time I was in they had-
Fluffy Snitch notebook £3.99
Snitch pen around £1
Metal water bottle £4.99
HP trivial pursuit £2.99
Dobby Funko tshirt and mini figure set £2.99
HP card game £1.99
Stationary folder £3.99
Also some figures, other games, duvet set and cushions but I didn't catch prices.

Farmfoods has HP Cluedo for £9.99

Boyes has HP metallic scratch art sets for £1.99, sticker sets for £1.50 and other bits of stationary like notebooks and pens.

Can you tell I'm also on the lookout for gifts for a HP obsessed person this year? 😂

mummydoris2006 · 28/09/2024 10:03

My DD18 asked for the limited edition fondant pink ghd straighteners for Christmas. They were £209 on the GHD site with them making a £10 donation to breast cancer charities too. There was a 15% off your first order offer and it worked on the limited edition items too. I decide to get them personalised for an extra £10 because of the saving which will be a nice surprise for her 😊

Dormouse1940 · 28/09/2024 10:17

Microscooters 10% off on orders over £135, if that helps anyone a little bit...
Code is SEPT10
