Thread 2 - the one with a round of Santa-plause for all of the bargains

Reastie · 21/09/2024 11:08

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@YeahWellWhyNot My dd will be almost 3 this Xmas, but she has big brother-itis too (I've planned super well, both their birthdays are January too). She is getting a 16 inch squishmallow, a little sylvanian family, an Anna costume, a kids smart watch with camera (because ds will go nuts for his, and dd will go nuts at being left out). Then little bits because they have more than they need or want if I'm honest. Oversized candy canes and the likes, book, etc. Kinetic sand has been requested from grandma. She has asked for snuggles with me for Christmas, and her big brother (5) only wants a big duck squishmallow...

Edit - dolls, hair accessories, play buggy/dr kit etc you might be missing? But you can't go wrong with brio. Lidl do bargain RC trains for brio tracks in November ish too.

Bluey books, pyjamas, jigsaw?
Bluey teddy?

whizpoppingcreature · 24/09/2024 21:24

Jigsaw! Why didn't I think of that, I was too focussed on "toys". Some nice age 5+ ones on Amazon, and the page of the one I picked also suggested a water bottle which I might run with, or a t-shirt going along with your PJ idea. Thanks so much! Love these threads, you're all amazing!!

Bluey Annual? In Sainsburys I saw they had these packs of 2 Bluey baths bombs (1 Bluey and 1 Bingo) for £2.50. https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/bluey-bath-fizzer-130g

Girl or boy? I saw this recently, might be a bit girly though thanks to the pink beads. https://www.thetoyshop.com//arts-creative-play/fashion/jewellery/Bluey-Make-Your-Own-Jewellery-Set/p/566096?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxsm3BhDrARIsAMtVz6No6xMjp0Sqvoai1Av-ZiIxsBGR5BQuMPvtLJDXNa-H5urqie6ax1UaAo5NEALw_wcB

wholenutcadburys · 24/09/2024 21:25

@RainbowZebraWarrior

They didn't have any brochures out when I popped into my local but fairly good sized M&S this morning. Going to another one tomorrow that's much bigger so will keep an eye out 😃

whizpoppingcreature · 24/09/2024 21:26

Bath bombs and jewellery, amazing! The 7yr old is a girl. I have so much to choose from now haha. Thank you all!

Alpolonia · 24/09/2024 21:30

@Clucket87 you star! Thanks so much. I’ve been dithering for so long about whether to buy them for my DD13 and the discount seemed too good to miss.

MyBestFriendKenny · 24/09/2024 21:41

@Franticbutterfly I have three more on the way. I can't fault their customer service.

Someaddedsugar · 24/09/2024 21:50

@RainbowZebraWarrior I picked up a magazine today with Christmas food and some recipes in. It was in the Darlington M&S after work tonight.

I can't remember if it was posted here years ago, or somewhere else. But, Perfume Parlour creates dupes of all sorts of perfume (some super high end). I've used them for years.

You can search your perfume and it'll bring up their version. Lots of reviews too and you can find what people rate them.

Perhaps only for people you know well and know they dont mind alternative to their own perfume.

Came here to see if anyone had posted about the Boots no.7 saving "trick" - it's very good!

Saw it on the Moneysaving Expert email.

Sign up for the waiting list for the No 7 advent calendar and you'll get a 30% discount code which works with the 3 for 2 and other No 7 offers.

The code is SIGNUP30

Anyone know the best place to get the stronger with you mens edt? Where’s cheapest? Teenage son has asked for it for one of his presents for Xmas

Bonjourlaclasse · 24/09/2024 22:31

What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas currently £3.48

https://amzn.eu/d/eMTOm6g

Lovely book.

And the paperback of You Choose Christmas is released next week. The You Choose books are great anyway but think the Christmas one will be even more of a hit. Hopefully Amazon might do a deal on it before December!

Thanks for this- just ordered

Scout2016 · 24/09/2024 23:41

Thanks for the Hobbycraft tips. £5 off £15 spend with code HC515. Did 3 split orders and got some posca pens with 25% off and some pebbles, Halloween craft set and stocking filler colourful tape. It's free collection on £10 spends. I don't object to paying for pebbles so much when there's a hefty discount.

My dd is going travelling next year. Does anyone have any “essential” ideas that we can get her or have seen bargainous pack packs or packing cubes?

A micro fibre towel, rolls/ fold tiny, dries fast and super light. Bar of soap (lighter and lasts longer than shower gel), think you can get bars of shampoo too? Antibac hand gel might be useful.

Oops I’ve read through the thread and see this question had been answered already.

Can I please ask again for all and any ideas for a ten year old little girl - presents that are ‘in’ and ‘cool’ - toys/clothes/hoodie - anything.

She is a gentle girly girl and has lots of sisters so has a lot ‘handed’ down - budget around £40

My DD is 11, over the past year she/her friends have loved

  • squishmallows
  • nice bits for their bedrooms (fleece throws, lights, lava lamps)
  • anything from Kenji!
  • bubble tea kits
  • a snack maker (primark sold them last year)
  • clay beads and charms to make bracelets
  • stickers
  • anything from lush
  • hoodies/sweatshirts (H&M are popular)
  • baggy jeans with pockets
  • Oodie things from primark
  • Lottie Brooke’s books
  • Annuals (minecraft)

HTH :)

Thanks to those who have shared beetlejuice ideas, I can add that Pep and Co are apparently doing a beetlejuice hoodie
