Inspired by another thread where a poster commented that another buys Pringles for Xmas when they are available all year....

For us
Cranberry sauce - I never bother rest of year even though I love it with bacon and Brie
Brie come to think of it, prob because of the cranberry thing
Chocolate oranges
Baileys
Those teeny tiny pickled onions
Mini marshmallows for hot chocolate (in December really)
Tubs of dry roasted peanuts

No logic in most of it. I know I could buy but I just don't.

Amaretti biscuits. Elizabeth shaw mint crisp chocolates, a gammon, stuffing, panettone for bread and butter pudding, florentines, Marks and Spencer festive chocolates (available since August ) the ones that are shaped like pine cones.

Turkey - not that keen but its tradition; we have a gammon too, to add taste.
Pate - love it but it only feels right to eat it at Christmas.
Panettone (its really only available at Christmas in most stores but I could get it if I really wanted to at other times; I just love it way too much so save it for Christmas only! My waste band thanks me)

I'm a latecomer to pannetone too - always assumed they were dry and boring but we received one as a present and it was soft, buttery and sweet, it's been added to the yearly must-haves now!

Tbh in the past few years lots of my favourite Christmas treats have been discontinued one by one so I'm a bit sad about that! (Looking at you, Waitrose...)

They make a great bread and butter pudding!!

afaloren · 23/09/2024 09:47

Pork pie. Matchmakers. Twiglets in a tub.

WWGD · 23/09/2024 09:51

Posh marzipan. And jellied orange and lemon peel. They both mean Christmas to me.

kab89 · 23/09/2024 10:13

I've still got a bottle of Baileys from last Christmas unopened. I always buy a bottle of Baileys for Christmas but I had gallstones last year, they've gone now. I knew I wouldn't be able to drink it because of setting the gallstones off but when I saw it on offer for around £10 it was just instinct to buy it.

Rushes off to check the date on it.

JingsMahBucket · 23/09/2024 10:25

I forgot, do you just drink Bailey’s straight or does it go into your coffee? I have a faint memory of pouring it over ice cream as well?

I do both, straight with ice and in coffee. Pouring over ice cream sounds good as well.

@JingsMahBucket Neat with ice, in coffee, in hot chocolate, over ice cream, in an espresso martini, use the milk frother and create a kind of cream that can go on top of hot drinks or cold dessert.

Also makes a delicious cheesecake! Be warned if you search for 'baileys recipes' it's a slippery slope...

Elizabeth Shaw mints

PanettoneSoprano · 23/09/2024 12:21

Mine is York Fruits, but these have been discontinued and you can only get them on Amazon now, so that doesn't really count 😪

Also:
Port
Bucks fizz
The oranges with leaves on that come in a box 🍊
Brie
Pastry and sausagemeat to make sausage rolls

angela1952 · 23/09/2024 12:28

Yes, twiglets, my DH and DD love them.
Port.
Chocolates.
More chocolates in tins.
Shloer for the GC when we have champagne.
Big joint of gammon.
Cream.
Brussels sprouts and chestnuts (which we nobody eats).
Bacon.

One friend says she likes it on breakfast cereal.
