What do you buy only at Christmas that's available all year

Inspired by another thread where a poster commented that another buys Pringles for Xmas when they are available all year....

For us
Cranberry sauce - I never bother rest of year even though I love it with bacon and Brie
Brie come to think of it, prob because of the cranberry thing
Chocolate oranges
Baileys
Those teeny tiny pickled onions
Mini marshmallows for hot chocolate (in December really)
Tubs of dry roasted peanuts

No logic in most of it. I know I could buy but I just don't.

OP posts:

Turkey, tomatoe juice for a bloody Mary, parsnips, cranberry sauce and Quality Street

The Radio Times

LaDamaDeElche · 22/09/2024 19:08

Celebrations or Heroes
A wide selection of cheese and crackers
Bacon and sausages (don’t live in the U.K. so have to travel a fair way to get them and don’t have fry ups apart from at Xmas)
Chocolate orange
Shortbread biscuits
Tins of biscuits

WhimsicalMoth · 22/09/2024 19:10

Brie. It would become a problem if I bought it all year round.

FlipFlopVibe · 22/09/2024 19:12

Dissarano, the velvet one which is like alcoholic milk. Aldi brought out a version which is almost as good and half the price. Have a glass each time I wrap presents.

Honey roast nuts, we always get them
in a hamper. If they aren’t eaten by NYD they will sit in the cupboard for a full year. Pretty sure there’s two opened bags festering in a cupboard in the kitchen.

Never knew Twiglets were so popular Christmas!

Coconutter24 · 22/09/2024 19:12

after eights
vienetta

Utterknowitall · 22/09/2024 19:12

Not what you're asking, but in the 70's we only had broccoli at Christmas. I think it was frozen and I think it came in cardboard box. And orange juice made from frozen concentrate.

imisscashmere · 22/09/2024 19:18

This thread is gorgeous! I’m excited for December now.

ArielManto43 · 22/09/2024 19:21

Baileys, After Eights, Celebrations and Quality Street, all the usual stuff ... plus pale cream sherry, fino sherry, dessert wine, smoked salmon and prawns - and a huge box of crackers for cheese that routinely gets binned (with almost all its contents) some time in March.

softmauve · 22/09/2024 19:28

Chestnut purée
Chestnuts
Ham joint
Cranberries

TorroFerney · 22/09/2024 19:39

Nothing - now that's either because every shop is akin to a Bacchanalian feast or because we only actually have 2 Christmas meals: a buffet on Christmas Eve and a Christmas lunch. I'll give you a clue, it's the latter, We are very poor at letting our hair down! I am going to read this thread and try and do better.

CalamityJane88 · 22/09/2024 20:09

Gaviscon.

I'm on a very restricted diet for medical reasons. Christmas is probably when I eat things like quiche, scotch eggs or pork pie. I celebrate Easter so the same foods might make an appearance. The one thing I certainly don't eat at any other time is home-made sausage rolls.

Fontainebleau007 · 22/09/2024 21:18

Twiglets
After Eights
Schloer
Sprouts
Turkey
Champagne or a nice bottle of cava
Cocktail sausages

Oh yes. Home made sausage rolls. For some reason it's become a tradition that I make them with my daughter on Xmas eve. Don't eat sausage rolls at any other time.

Ruthietuthie · 22/09/2024 21:24

After Eight Mints
Prawns (for prawn cocktail)
Baileys (don't know why... I love it and could drink it year round, although it is so high calorie that you might as well drink cream, so perhaps it's a good job)
Individual chocolates

Lostincyberspace · 22/09/2024 21:25

pigs in blankets
matchsticks
After eights
Chocolate orange
Turkey
kinder egg for stocking fillers. 😋 🤪

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/09/2024 21:25

Costa or Starbucks coffee

If I;m out I;ll usually go to Marks'n'Spencer for coffee but come December the lure of the festive flavours is too much .

I don;t buy the Seasonal Summer or Autumn ones but I like a look at the Chrristmas ones and buy one sometimes two but that;s enough

AdeptScroller · 22/09/2024 21:34

Baileys and fererro roche

Shangrilalala · 22/09/2024 21:46

The biggest pork pie I can fit in the fridge.

Turkish delight and boxes of dates, in memory of my grandmother, who bought them every Christmas.

Piccalllli, which will have two teaspoons used on Boxing Day and then be thrown out by the summer.

Amaretto, Sherry and Aperol.
