What do you buy only at Christmas that's available all year

Inspired by another thread where a poster commented that another buys Pringles for Xmas when they are available all year....

For us
Cranberry sauce - I never bother rest of year even though I love it with bacon and Brie
Brie come to think of it, prob because of the cranberry thing
Chocolate oranges
Baileys
Those teeny tiny pickled onions
Mini marshmallows for hot chocolate (in December really)
Tubs of dry roasted peanuts

No logic in most of it. I know I could buy but I just don't.

Cheap/knockoff 'caviar'- too frivolous & expensive for us to justify buying it all year round, goes v quickly as we'd eat it straight from the teeny weeny jar if we could, and also is one of the few remaining special-feeling things at Christmas time (due to so many items being enjoyed other months).

It’s more cooking and baking in our house - lots of recipes I only make at Christmas - cinnamon knot buns, stuffed brioche, mince pies, turkey, stuffing, turkey gravy, goose fat and rosemary roasties, trifle, vanillekipferl, whiskey cake, gingerbread, glazed ham, mulled wine, spiced cider.

Some of the shop bought treats are brought back from France - so they’re summer holiday indulgences as well.

Umpteentimesnow · 21/09/2024 17:40

Bailey's is probably the only thing I buy that I won't otherwise buy

EverybodyLTB · 21/09/2024 17:57

Advocaat 🥳 I love, love LOVE a snowball with the fancy (also only buy at Christmas) San Pellegrino lemonade and a squeeze + slice of lime.

PoshHorseyBird · 21/09/2024 17:59

Quality Street.
Think I only get these out of tradition really as I only like the soft centres. But you open the tub and it smells like Christmas 😊

Yozzer87 · 21/09/2024 18:00

Cheese footballs, brie, Stilton camembert, boxes of chocolate biscuits rather than just packets, trifle, custard, frozen desserts like roulade, gateau etc.

VoteLabour · 21/09/2024 18:15

I was just about to head off to the supermarket. I suspect I'll come back with all sorts of festive fare. It's only September.
