What do you buy only at Christmas that's available all year

Inspired by another thread where a poster commented that another buys Pringles for Xmas when they are available all year....

For us
Cranberry sauce - I never bother rest of year even though I love it with bacon and Brie
Brie come to think of it, prob because of the cranberry thing
Chocolate oranges
Baileys
Those teeny tiny pickled onions
Mini marshmallows for hot chocolate (in December really)
Tubs of dry roasted peanuts

No logic in most of it. I know I could buy but I just don't.

OP posts:

Whole turkey
Tin of heroes/celebrations
Cheeselets

Chicken livers (for pâté, normally I just buy it already made, make my own for Christmas)
Schloer
J20
Dried fruit (for pudding, cake and mincepies)

Crunchy Nut Cornflakes

It's like an addiction for me and DD once the box is open we can't stop, so it's a one a year thing.

Rhaenys · 22/09/2024 17:52

Coke in glass bottles.

hoxtonbabe · 22/09/2024 17:53

I love how Baileys seems to be the one most of us only purchase at Christmas, lol.

A cheeseboard with homemade chilli Jam (or red caramelised onion)

Baileys 😅

An Assortment box of chocolates (usually quality streets or roses)

Caribbean black rum cake ( I make the damn thing all year round for others, but for myself I only make it to eat at Christmas)

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 22/09/2024 17:53

Cracking nuts
Dates
Jar of piccalilli in memory of my mum because she always bought it.
Ready made pudding from M & S

Coke in glass bottles.

Yes I do this too?!? I usually go Costco to get it even though it costs a bloody fortune and would ordinarily drink coke from the plastic bottle, something about Christmas just makes me want the glass one instead 😅

MeAgainAndAgain · 22/09/2024 17:59

Honey roasted peanuts and cashews.

Elizabeth Shaw mint honeycomb crisp (in the green octagonal box)

Bendicks chocolates, any.

Sugar cubes. Just because.

Spomb · 22/09/2024 18:03

ItcanbeDone · 22/09/2024 18:13

Mint chocolate! Love my Matchmakers and After Eights, and now also the Mint chocolate oranges, bloomin' lush!
On the 23rd Dec I stick 2 boxes of Mint Matchmakers in the freezer for when I'm watching my usual repertoire of films with the husband, wrapping the pressies for our 5 kids :-)

It just seems like more of a treat on Christmas Day and nicer to serve to guests. I also like to have a bottle on Christmas Eve whilst wrapping last minute presents. 🎉

These are SO hard to find now! I spend eleven months hunting them down - if I could find them all year I'd eat them all year.

Nobody else likes them except for me. Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

Yes LOVE cheese footballs - did spot some in Morrisons last week - bite off the shell, suck on the cheese bit - repeat

Mommybunny · 22/09/2024 18:23

For me:

Sausagemeat, for sausage rolls
Beef suet, for Christmas pudding and homemade mincemeat
Ginger wine
Cranberries

Other than a turkey, most all of the other components of a Christmas meal we have at other times of the year.

These lists are making me a little emotional - I think they are so sweet, so nostalgic. I hope they give everyone happy Christmas memories.

Kentucky83 · 22/09/2024 18:24

Cheese selection in a posh box!

Lollipop81 · 22/09/2024 18:29

I'm this way with chocolate fingers! Never have them outside Christmas and I don't know why; they're ubiquitous all year round Confused

Yoonimum · 22/09/2024 18:39

Sherry (3 types!)
Nuts in shells
Christmas pudding
Lindt chocolates
And I make mince pies
