The final week in the run up to Christmas, what does it look like for you?

I have 3 and a half days work
A meal out
Parcels to collect
About 3 more presents to buy
All presents to wrap
Food shop
Hopefully all done so I can relax at home on Christmas Eve with a film and a nice dinner

I'm working until Saturday 😭
Still need to do the food shop, wrap a couple of presents and I've housework to catch up on.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 17/12/2023 07:00

I have officially finished working but will probably end up working a bit next week, I’ll flex it back in January.

we have DSS birthday today

cars in for a service on Monday, presents to wrap. Circus with DS Wednesday and Charismas haircut for him on Thursday, and I’ll get my nails done.

we’re heading off to our holiday home in Denmark on Friday and going straight from there to go skiing in Norway on boxing day, so some of this week will also be spent packing the car.

i’m also going to find some me time so I’ll be knitting and sewing too. Busy busy busy.

friday will be a 12 hour drive north and hopefully my wonderful DSIL will have the heating on and beds made when we arrive.

Sandytoxic · 17/12/2023 07:03

Retired, and husband away till Thursday, so it's blissfully quiet and stress free here. Clean the floors, visit parents, choir performance. Today I'll be making a gin and tonic granita.

BCBird · 17/12/2023 07:04

Teaching till Friday 1.20. 🙄

Lifeasiknowitisout · 17/12/2023 07:05

I don’t really book socialising in the week before Christmas apart from anything in work time. It gets too stressful.

so I am working Monday to Friday. We finish Friday afternoon. Thursday I am having going shopping with a coworker at lunch. Saturday I am doing the last bits of food shopping and need to get some toiletries for both of my kids.

I need to order a couple of presents off Amazon. Wrap those. Get Christmas cards for my brother and family, there’s an Asda on the way to work so will do that in the morning.

Sunday will be a quick tidy and clean. Dd is staying at my dad’s on the Saturday so will visit him and pick her up. Then home, Santa tracker (the kids re older so more tradition than anything) some baking and buffet dinner.

I don’t wrap the kids presents. Ds is 13 and hates wrapping paper. He is autistic and just doesn’t like it. Dd (19) thinks it’s wasteful so I get out of it part from a few bits.

TeddyBeans · 17/12/2023 07:05

I work tto so I'm off on holiday now until January. DS is out until 3pm today as it's his dad's weekend

Monday we're going to a Christmas themed messy play session - it'll be 9mo DD's first time doing anything like that

Tuesday is currently a free day

Wednesday we're hoping to spend with my MIL

Thursday and Friday my son's out at his dad's again so I might take DD swimming and go pick up the last Christmas foody bits, Friday evening we have friends coming over to exchange presents and have a good old catch up

Saturday we're going to a nearby garden centre to do their Christmas woodland walk and then we'll do our Christmas eve box activities

Xmas eve, we're hosting a party for all our family, it'll be our main Xmas day as DS is spending this Christmas at his dad's so all presents will be opened etc. DS will be picked up at 6.30

Xmas day we're going to my in law's

Boxing day we'll be at my parents, DS will be dropped off at 11 and we'll do whatever leftover presents there are from Xmas eve

Sounds hectic but it'll fly by!

Whoknowswhatanymore · 17/12/2023 07:05

Work until Friday and then two weeks off. All sorted for Christmas so this week will be keeping up to the cleaning and waiting for the Christmas food shop to arrive. Merry Christmas everyone!

liveforsummer · 17/12/2023 07:06

I work in a school so basically just surviving until 12pm on Friday 😅. The dc I work with don't cope at all with changes to their routine or to the routine of the wider class around them so the run up to Xmas is one of the hardest weeks.

Youhaveyourhandsfull · 17/12/2023 07:07

Um. Working to Thursday. Many presents to buy and all to wrap. Fly with whole family to the UK Saturday, which is in exactly a week and I'll be honest I'm close to the panicking stage.

MilkChocolateCookie · 17/12/2023 07:07

I'm working up till Thursday but wfh every day (usually I have to go in some days).
Picking up the turkey on Thurs, supermarket delivery arriving on Fri.
Present shopping finished, need to do the wrapping.
Kids are off school all week, but they're teens now so don't need a lot of input from me.
Out tonight and Friday night for Christmas drinks.
Happy Christmas all!

DoYouAgree · 17/12/2023 07:07

ginsparkles · 17/12/2023 07:10

It's the busiest week of the year at work for me, so I've got today until Tuesday off. In that time I have to finish the Christmas shopping, wrap everything, tidy the house and exercise the horse and dog!

We are squeezing in a trip to look at the Christmas lights and a walk with friends and a Christmas party at a friends house this week.

Dd doesn't break up until Friday, DH has a couple of days off at the end of the week. I'm back to work on Wednesday and working through until 4 on Christmas Eve.

thevegetablesoup · 17/12/2023 07:12

I am working until Friday.
Work night out on Tuesday,
School Christmas Carol concert on Wednesday.
Neighbours round on Friday for festive drinks and nibbles.
Football match on Saturday.
Going to a lights trail in Christmas Eve in the afternoon, hopefully will have all the the food prep done by lunchtime on that day.
8 of us for Xmas dinner on Xmas day! Then relax until 8th Jan! With a few more matches and get togethers in between.

I'm all wrapped, did that all yesterday so that is a good feeling!

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 17/12/2023 07:14

Working from Tuesday all the way through til Boxing Day. As is DH

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 17/12/2023 07:15

Did all my Christmas socialising this week. I’ve done everything I need to regarding buying and wrapping presents so just getting mani/pedi and hair trimmed and coloured, then driving up to Norfolk on Christmas Eve. Getting excited for my Christmas away now.

WYorkshireRose · 17/12/2023 07:17

Work. We don't break up for Xmas so I'm doing really long shifts every day. Have Xmas day off though. I still have most presents to buy, have to wait for payday.

Blixem · 17/12/2023 07:22

3 days in work then off until 8 Jan!
Swimming, ice skating and a meal out planned for this week.
I've wrapped all presents apart from 2 that can only be done nearer the time due to hiding issues.
Tesco delivery is sorted and I've got an M&S order to pick up on 23rd and I'll pick up some last min food stuff while I'm there too.
I've got a couple of cards to write for new neighbors as we moved this year and have received cards from people who's name I couldn't remember when I was writing cards.
Making gingerbread house today with youngest DD and have some stuffed cookies too make this afternoon for work tomorrow.

Whatineed · 17/12/2023 07:22

Work until Thursday. Wednesday need to bring cakes in to the office for a birthday so early trip to the bakery in France which is easier than baking!

Couple of final presents to get and wrap.

Friday off to a theme park for two days and an overnight stay, spa treatments and a sensory taster menu experience.

Pick up last of Christmas day food stuffs on Saturday on the way back, bread, pates fruits and vegetables etc.

Working Monday, Wednesday, Friday, it will be extremely busy also our busiest week. Dc break up Thursday, school Mass for dd2 Thursday afternoon. Tuesday I have to wait in for a repair so I am cleaning/tidying and starting the wrapping. Thursday morning is the 'big shop', fresh things only really as everything else is sorted. Pop to bakery for mince pies at somepoint.

No plans Saturday or Sunday currently, dp working Saturday am so probably take dc swimming. Cinema or a walk on Christmas eve probably. I save wrapping dc gifts and sorting stockings til Xmas eve so will do that with dp while we watch a film.
