Thread 13 - the one with the loot from Black Friday

Reastie · 25/11/2023 06:56

13 - unlucky for some. Let's hope it's very lucky for us!

I bought a couple of things in the Black Friday sales - an amazon stick (I'm pretty sure we couldn't just bought a smart tv by now with the amount we've got through as they break after a year or so) and noise cancelling headphones for DD. Hope you're all getting through the lists - December is fast upon us!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

Repeating a request made at the end of the last thread - does anyone know of any good deals on beer / alcohol/ coffee advent calendars, please?
thank you!

Beer52 had some deals on their advent calendar- I've got this for DH the last few years and it's gone down well

My kids have asked Father Christmas for an England football kit and I cannot find one anywhere in sizes DS10-11,DD 11-12.
Also after a Welsh football kit in 10-11

I'm nervous to use the footballbest4u due to the long lead time as it’s all they’ve asked Santa for - although I do like the price!! Should I risk footballbest4u?

can anyone help? Im panicking a little lol

There will be a new England kit out next year for the Euros so stocks of the current kit will be low. I've definitely seen it on sale somewhere, I'll have a look.

Quick question, the Ariana Perfume Cloud, would people recommend it for a 30 something year old?! The bottle looks teeny, does it smell good?

With the good deal on Amazon it means blind buying. Thank you!

I'm 30's and have just re-bought a bottle as I absolutely love it.

100ml bottle is definitely not teeny and £29 is a steal!

It's the perfume I get most compliments on!

Can any one suggest a Boardgame, for 2+ players, SIMPLE rules (suitable for both elderly with brain fog) & teens?
Not TV / pop culture based.

We really like payday. Its currently on offer on amazon for £16.57. (Its stood the test of time too as we use my copy from when I was a kid so it's 25 years old!!) We've played it from when they were about 6/7 and still love it at 15 and 11, my mum plays with us too.

Oh sorry ignore me. I get what you mean now. Teeny as in teenager-y not as in teeny tiny.

The cloud bit is just a plastic holder/stand - the bottle itself is just blue & round. I think it's pretty cute. At least it's not pink with rhinestones 😂

  • Creed on offer at John Lewis*

Thanks @LittleMousewithcloggson - do you know what these are like? A couple seem to be floral, which is a no-no, but I know that names of perfume can be misleading.

GoatsareGOAT · 25/11/2023 11:29

@medianewbie
Love letter is a card game but very quick & simple (you just do what the cards tell you)
Tsuro is a boardgame - rules are very simple (you just choose a tile to place to continue a pathway) but it can be played with lots of strategy if you want to.
Chromino is like (tri) dominoes with colour combinations, really simple to play but fun - I've played with with very small children all the way to adults.

LonelyFlans · 25/11/2023 11:29

Penhaligans are gorgeous fragrances, not too floral, and absolutely beautifully presented.

Thanks @fishfingersandchipsagain - they look fabulous, the only thing that puts me off is that I don't think a full price bottle (if she finds a perfume she prefers) is in her price range sadly.

I’ve started some wrapping this morning and must report that this Sostrene Grene bargain Xmas wrap is really good quality! Highly recommend.

@medianewbie HerdMentality (currently heavily reduced on Amazon) might well suit. We play it regularly with a variety of ages and all seem to enjoy it as there's no complex rules or strategy and there's no way of actually getting it wrong.

doistayordoigo · 25/11/2023 11:48

Does anyone have a code for Etsy please, I know there was talk yesterday but think I might have missed the boat.

Magik01 · 25/11/2023 11:51

@MarshmallowsOnToast aha that did make me giggle, teeny tiny is definatly under used! But yea I meant to write tweeny.

thanks for the input, I’ve brought it!

friskybivalves · 25/11/2023 11:51

My DS has just asked for the Spiderman 2 PS5 game and it seems to be at least £61.99 everywhere. Has anyone seen it lower (not counting those shonky places that just send you a code which I never really trust)? He has a disc player. Thanking you in advance if you can help!

funbags3 · 25/11/2023 11:52

I've had my eye on a rabbit vibrator from Vush for ages. Bought myself an early Christmas present yesterday for half price.

MerylSqueak · 25/11/2023 11:53

Hype has an extra 10% off sale with EXTRA10 today.

MammaRoly · 25/11/2023 11:57

@Twonka I have bought from Footballbest4u last year based on recommendations on here, and we were really pleased. DS has worn his kit a lot and it washes well. I ordered again for him for Christmas and website says last day today for ordering in time for Christmas. Beware of similar named website Footballs4us which I ordered by mistake and I think is a scam

no I don’t, sorry
I have only tried one of them
I have just seen your other post and each individual full size is £150+ so might not be a suitable gift anyway

fourquenelles · 25/11/2023 12:00

DD has to commute with her new job and wanted a laptop tote. I found this Kate Spade leather laptop tote reduced by £400 from £549 to £129. I got her the black version. https://tinyurl.com/2kscscnx

You know this tote holds your everyday stuff like a wallet, keys, phone, sunglasses. It also holds two red lipsticks, $6 in change, 11 crumpled receipts, an avocado

Can you get to a Smyths? They have £5 off over £50 or £10 off over £100 but you have to go in store for it

fishfingersandchipsagain · 25/11/2023 12:02

@LonelyFlans I remember a few threads ago there being some posts about a place where you could get tester kits along with a voucher for a full sized bottle (I think). I wasn’t paying attention because it wasn’t something I needed, but maybe someone else on here will know?

I'm sorry because I know this has been asked before but lists have finally be written and now it turns out my boys were planning to ask Santa for a switch.
I am wary of going second hand- but the prices seem insane- has anyone found a way of minimising the cost??

It seemed the consensus was using very with the 20% off new credit account offer

I did Alot of shopping around. I ordered from Asda but they went out of stock so went with very and 20% off. Got the switch and Mario wonder plus another game we wanted for 230 with 7 quid cash back (hopefully)

Lots came with Mario Kart but I'd already nabbed that second hand.
