Thread 13 - the one with the loot from Black Friday

1000 replies

Reastie · 25/11/2023 06:56

13 - unlucky for some. Let's hope it's very lucky for us!

I bought a couple of things in the Black Friday sales - an amazon stick (I'm pretty sure we couldn't just bought a smart tv by now with the amount we've got through as they break after a year or so) and noise cancelling headphones for DD. Hope you're all getting through the lists - December is fast upon us!

In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

Been so busy back at work I've missed two whole threads!! Luckily I'm pretty much done but oh the bargains I've missed. Just bought some jelly's cats from this site and now I'm thinking it was too good to be true?! What do you lovely lot think? You can spot a scam a mile off and I think I may have just been had Halloween Confused

my daughter loves Bubble, you find it on Sephora

ProseccoandPizza · 25/11/2023 09:34

@BottomRusseller if she loves Inkey they often (permanently) in my local Home Bargains have both hair and beauty Inkey all under £4 an item!

Has anyone seen any discounts on flower deliveries? For Black Friday last year, M&S did 25% off a lot of their flower deliveries and had delivery dates into January. We have a number of elderly widows in our family who get loads of flowers & chocolates at Xmas and all seemed to appreciate the surprise of a flower delivery in early Jan when it's all a bit dull and gloomy after Christmas. M&S only seem to have their more expensive bouquets reduced this year.
Bloom & Wild do have some things discounted but for more immediate delivery. That might be the fall back as then they could be delivered next week and make the house look nice now.

If you are a new customer, code fba35 takes 35% off Bloom & Wild and you can schedule the flowers to send in January.

I've just used an incognito tab to open their website and a different email to check out as guest and it let me apply the code again.

Also thanks to everyone for the links to kitchens!

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 25/11/2023 09:45

Sendabloom have 55% off with code FRIDAY55

I haven't used them for several years but used to be decent

mrsanflowerpot · 25/11/2023 09:45

MrsChristiesChristmasCake · 25/11/2023 07:41

Do Fortnum's do any discounts? Or free delivery at least? 🤞

No codes but they have 5% (I think) on TCB

PlanBea · 25/11/2023 09:46

@napsarelifewithtwo I had an Instagram ad for that website and I'm fairly certain it's a scam sorry! It's flagged on scam-detector.com as a likely scam site.

Did you pay with PayPal or with a card?

Straysocks · 25/11/2023 09:46

Scrawlrbox have their past boxes down to £7.50 with free p&p. I found them through the Christmas thread one year so returning the favour. It sends a box of art supplies monthly on subscription but at times you can buy one of the old boxes. Lots of choice and excellent quality. It's listed at full price (£24) until you get to the checkout. All boxes contain something about the month they've been issued but it's fairly easy to open and remove this and stick it back down if you want to.

Posted in the old one not realising there was a new thread

Ariana Grande cloud 100ml £29 Amazon

Grande Cloud EDP Spray, 100 ml, Blue amzn.eu/d/bE26VWN

Keep missing out on these bargains, my sister ordered another one for my daughter yesterday, I think she would prefer this and it's much better value.

I'll definitely be a lot more savvy next year

redjoker · 25/11/2023 08:17

Has anyone actually bought this and would they recommend? My ds6 loves checkers and card games. There seems to be a million variants on amazon. Not sure if they are literally all the same bar price?

This is good fun. Basically just magnetic pebbles though. Must be kept away from children who might try swallowing a pebble though.

Could anyone suggest brands of moisturiser for a 13 year old? What's cool? Obviously I can pick moisturiser but I'm going to assume there are particular brands she might want.

Apparently bubble is the latest 'thing'
Byoma is also quite popular with the teens. My tween has asked for drunken elephant. Thats a hard no! ££££

MammaRoly · 25/11/2023 09:57

I am twitching about buying Papier notebooks for tricky-to-buy-for teen nieces. Can I ask anyone who has purchased if they look special? Just a bit 🥺 at paying that price for a notepad but happy to of it looks nice. And is Black Friday deal or referral link the best I can do?

I bought a couple of Jellycats from my local gift shop yesterday and they were telling me about this site. Jellycat lawyers are all over it. Jellycat are very strict about discounting their products - it’s rare.

I noticed there are a lot of knock off Jellycat copies on eg Shein for about 1/4 the price.

They are lovely. I get one every year. I like that the planners aren't dated because I can go a couple of weeks without using it and then pick it back up again without wasting pages.

Thank you for the new thread. I need stocking presents - ideally under £3 a pop - for an 86 yr old woman, a 60 yr old woman and a 25 yr old woman - 4-5 gifts each. I went round the Poundshop yesterday and found a small number of things but it seems really hard to find anything.

Any ideas welcomed.

Amazon have mini keyring torches. Lots of varieties and colours but some thin ones at £1-2 each. Great for car keys and house keys over the winter when it’s dark. Ours are still going 2 years later
StickyArt have personalised pens for under £3 (buy 5 get 5 free) and you choose the names so great for more unusual names
Chocolate Santas £1-2 each go down well
Cath Kidson and Occitane both have hand creams in crackers (pack of 4) that you can split down
My grandparents still prefer soaps to hand wash so I often buy a pack of nice scented ones, again this can be split down
Primark fluffy socks are great for all ages and last well
Theres some nice notebooks in B&M for under £3 each, also some nice Christmas mugs there which you could wrap with a hot chocolate sachet, a candy cane and some marshmallows
For the 26 year old SO body sprays are lovely and under £2 at Superdrug

MadeForThis · 25/11/2023 10:16

The jellytoysale site was only set up on 20/11/23

My kids have asked Father Christmas for an England football kit and I cannot find one anywhere in sizes DS10-11,DD 11-12.
Also after a Welsh football kit in 10-11

I'm nervous to use the footballbest4u due to the long lead time as it’s all they’ve asked Santa for - although I do like the price!! Should I risk footballbest4u?

can anyone help? Im panicking a little lol

napsarelifewithtwo · 25/11/2023 10:20

@PlanBea I paid with card as PayPal wasn't an option. Which should have 100% been a red flag for me but I was juggling two smalls and not paying my usual attention. Fool.

Christmasmcchristmasface · 25/11/2023 10:21

Thank you @buckeejit for the British belt company recommendation - found the exact leather jeans belt I’ve been looking for for a hard to buy recipient for a few years at the bargain price of £22.50 delivered

fishfingersandchipsagain · 25/11/2023 10:21

any Recommendations for soft bamboo T-shirts in XXXL size? They don’t need to be discounted, but in the £15-20 ballpark rather than the £40-50 ballpark. I don’t understand why bamboo is so expensive? I can see a few in that price range in regular sizing (eg sock shop) but the gentleman concerned is on the larger size.

napsarelifewithtwo · 25/11/2023 10:21

@GrangeFill not surprised they are all over it. I am annoyed at myself tbh because I even know that jellycat rarely reduce. I 100% should have known better. Just paid with my regular Monzo so I'm not even sure I'll get my money back Envy
