Morning!

It's the final Rudolph Day of the year! A month today is the big day!

I'm sending DH off to his parents' house with the kids so I can wrap today. I usually fail to be Christmassy on Rudolph Days! 🤣

Oh the joys of WFH amongst moving boxes Fluffy - I remember that. Didn't have Christmas to contend with though!

why you just reminded me to do my neighbour Christmas cards. So embarrassing but I can't remember the names of the wives in 2 of the houses (and I only send cards to 5 houses) Xmas Blush

I'm on the Christmas countdown. 3 working days left. 4 sleeps until holiday.
Plans for the next 4 days include cleaning, Christmas takeaway and presents for my family, similar with ILs, packing and hopefully finishing my Christmas cushion for my auntie. Busy busy busy!

WreckTangled · 18/12/2023 09:21

We’ve all broken up from work/school now. (Not dh but he doesn’t count). Will do some housework today.

We have 4 days left at school.

That’s rubbish. Must have been a long half term? Ours was seven weeks and that was more than enough.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/12/2023 12:15

No. 8 week half term here! Bit long...

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 18/12/2023 12:16

Ouch! We never have longer than 7 and that’s long enough.

DD is really grumpy today and I can’t be doing with it. She’s moping around looking miserable. I say around she actually hasn’t moved from the sofa.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/12/2023 12:18

This is the longest ever. It's bonkers!

Back later in Jan though.

I always think it is strange when I see people finishing for Christmas because I don't. Doesn't bother me too much though as I have worked all through for years.

That is a long school term Fluffy, I think my two had one like that when they were at school.

WreckTangled · 18/12/2023 18:23

I’ve only finished because I’m taking annual leave. It’s mapped into my timetable so have to take it now, otherwise I would have worked between Christmas and new year.

CrazyBaubles · 18/12/2023 19:38

DHs school have had a 7 week half term and finish on Friday. He's exhausted so can only imagine how the kids feel.

In the job I have now I wouldn't actually mind working through Christmas why.
In some of my old jobs I worked some rubbish hours (Christmas Eve night shift, 9pm-9am etc) but I didn't mind then.
Too old and tired for that now though!

I am at the tail end of my lurgy and feel exhausted today.
I've worked, shopped, written a packing list 70 would be proud of, done washing, tidied downstairs, hoovered and am about to clean the bathroom.
Then I'll be eating and going to bed early.
Day off tomorrow so will be packing and arguing with the GP about my prescription 🙄

Hopingforno2in2024 · 19/12/2023 05:56

Glad you are on the mend @CrazyBaubles

DS breaks up on Thursday but had a later half term so September to half term was the 8 week bit and this bit is 7 weeks.

Plan for today is to properly start the food shopping. Get the stuff with decent dates.

Morning. It's damp here. Meant to improve later though. 🤞 as we've washing to go out.

Our bins are finally being delivered today. Only 18 days after being ordered and told it would be 10 days. 🙄 We have lots to fill them with. Thankfully it's bin day tomorrow, so the grey bin can be filled and put straight out for collection.

Happy birthday to Why today! 🎉🎂

Thanks Fluffy another year older and wiser. Have been waiting for the wiser to kick in for 50 years but you never know today might be the day.

I really need to do some wrapping today but I don't think I will get round to it as I am building the Christmas gingerbread house with my daughter.

WreckTangled · 19/12/2023 08:03

Happy birthday why!

We stole our bins from our old house 😳

I’m taking dd for her flu spray today and then she’s got a friend coming round which is nice as she’s not been to school for three months. Meant to rain all day.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 19/12/2023 08:24

Happy birthday @whydoesitalwayshappentome! Have an amazing day.

CrazyBaubles · 19/12/2023 12:09

Happy birthday why 🥳🎂 Enjoy what sounds like a fun day!

How is your dd going with her medication etc Wreck?

I'm off work today but have a to do list longer than my arm (boring cleaning and packing) then my family are coming for tea and presents.
It should be a nice evening but I'm still so so tired 🥱

The landlord would not like that!

The bins were free as it's a new build. I'd likely have stolen them if not and claimed innocence! 🤣

I’ve seen a lot of chatter about this on the local fb group. Depending on which developer you bought your house from you either got bins included or had to buy them. As pauper HA tenants we would have had to buy ours.

Crazy the ones she started a week ago seem to be working 🤞🏼 but also it could just be that she’s coming out of a flare so will have to wait and see. I’m really hoping it’s the tablets although I’m not sure the GP will take over prescribing them and they’re over £100 a month 😓 will have to set up a go fund me!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/12/2023 17:53
trash shop GIF

Wreck, the council didn't even ask about ownership of the house, as it's to do with council tax, I think. Can't charge us for waste disposal with no bins! 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, they arrived. Wooooo!

That's dear re the medication. I hope the GP agrees to prescribe.

I just popped to John Lewis before getting the train. I noticed the baubles were half price at lunch time, so went back for a few! I might swing past the old house for my herbs out of the garden before going home. I'll see if DH can collect me!

Happy birthday why.
I have had a productive day here. I've wrapped presents for everyone outside the house and finished the non- perishable food shop.
Tonight I need to write the last few Christmas cards to send and do my final meal plan with DD.

WreckTangled · 19/12/2023 18:40

Our council won’t provide them free to anyone. New build or council, doesn’t matter. The extortionate council tax doesn’t cover that 🤨

E here 😭 £2700 a year. Absolutely ridiculous.

CrazyBaubles · 19/12/2023 21:42

I never knew councils would charge for bins in a new house - just assumed they'd be free!

Wreck I don't understand the prescription thing - aren't they free because of her age?
I do think it's awful to have to pay for medication regardless of circs but for children it just seems beyond unfair.
What if it is the meds that are helping but you couldn't afford them?

I should maybe stop complaining about my council tax - band C here.

Just putting my feet up. Today I have cleaned the bathroom, hoovered & mopped the whole house, cleared the wash basket, packed 80% for holiday, wrote and posted neighbour cards, dusted everywhere, argued with the GP surgery because they wouldn't give me a prescription without an appointment but don't have any appointments (won that one and have a face to face app tomorrow pm), and did Christmas with my family - takeaway, presents and general chaos.

Cross stitch cards for parents were a success, as were their gifts.
Niece and nephew were a bit underwhelmed which is rubbish, but they're moving soon so I deliberately bought small things (bath bombs, pjs, books etc).

Onwards with the crochet cushion cover now, then sleep 😴
