Morning!

It's the final Rudolph Day of the year! A month today is the big day!

I'm sending DH off to his parents' house with the kids so I can wrap today. I usually fail to be Christmassy on Rudolph Days! 🤣

Thanks for the new thread @NoWordForFluffy :)

Might do some wrapping myself today. Have a Christmas afternoon tea booked this afternoon so that will be nice.

littleblackcat27 · 25/11/2023 05:45

Mmmmmmm - I think I feel a need for Baileys and some sparkly lights to get me in the mood for wrapping. (also some more sellotape)

littleblackcat27 · 25/11/2023 05:46

@Hopingforno2in2024 Christmas afternoon tea sounds lush - do you know what's on the menu? Enjoy

We bought some 4 bottles from Sainsbury's when it was a tenner, so I shall definitely be indulging, whilst listening to Christmas radio (while it's safe to risk hearing Wham!). Xmas Smile

Almost time to crack open the Snowman loo roll too!

@littleblackcat27 i did look at the menu when we booked it but I can’t remember now! Will be a nice surprise :)

WreckTangled · 25/11/2023 07:16

Hoping sorry to hear that but afternoon tea sounds great!

I saw some festive loo roll but didn’t buy any. We can’t afford it really plus I like quilted. Also dd has an issue with excessive weeing atm so it wouldn't last long!

I’m about to go to sainburys as it’s pay day/Black Friday weekend I want it out the way. It’s ds’ birthday tomorrow too so need to get sorted for that.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 25/11/2023 07:19

I have never had Christmas loo roll, will I be thrown off the thread?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 25/11/2023 08:02

I am definitely your sister Fluffy. 😂 I am not sure festive toilet roll was a thing when my kids were little although it could just be me not noticing it in the shops.

I ordered my daughters boyfriend an Oodie last night, they can both have one then.

Will put the tree up next weekend, probably on the Sunday as I am on a late shift on Saturday and want to enjoy it, rather than rush it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/11/2023 09:20

Ooh Xmas BlushI thought yesterday was Rudolph Day bit it's today .......... yayy !

Only my DD and I notice the Christmas LooRoll here , DS and DH are utter peasants.. I keep infitrating DS brain with festive nonsense so when he has his own DC he'll hopefully carry it on.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 25/11/2023 14:02

Thanks for the new thread Fluffy

I've never knowingly wiped my bum with the snowman either.

I nipped out to the post office earlier and saw two families walking down the street carrying Christmas trees that they must have bought at the garden centre at the top of the road. A couple of houses were starting to put up outside lights too.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 25/11/2023 15:31

Just back from our afternoon tea. It was lovely and got me in the Christmas spirit :)

NoWordForFluffy · 25/11/2023 15:49

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Hoping. 🎅🏻

I've wrapped all of the kids' presents today, so that's a job done. Next weekend is when we pack!

Buck, I see new houses with decorations every day when I walk the dog. It makes me happy! Xmas Smile

We've had Snowman loo roll before but we use soooo much toilet roll I'd need to remortgage to supply it all month!!

I've spent the day with toddlers in tutus at DD 3's first dance show (Christmas themed). DH took DS to the local light switch on - it was apparently a bit naff but DS got a light up sword so he's a happy bunny.

What sort of thing was on your afternoon tea, Hoping?

NoWordForFluffy · 25/11/2023 20:07

We use it every other loo roll at the start of the month, Firefly. It's only used for every loo roll for the 10 days or so!

We're away for a night but it's definitely getting closer now!
No festive loo roll but looking for a relatively cheap real tree!

ConstantlyCooking · 26/11/2023 01:03

Thank you for the new thread Fluffy!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/11/2023 01:18

Don't IKEA usually have reasonable trees? Or Asda? 🎄🎄

Enjoy being away!

WreckTangled · 26/11/2023 06:54

I think supermarket is probably cheapest for a tree, or Homebase. The ones we get are locally grown so ££££ but worth it!

Ds’ birthday today, we’re going to a shopping outlet later so he can get some new football boots then an all you can eat Brazilian bbq place.

They do. We used to get our trees from there but our closest one closed and the nearest now is ridiculously busy at weekends. I might have to go after work one day.

FireflyGirl · 26/11/2023 08:53

I usually get one of the little ones from Lidl, but I've never had a full size 'real' tree, even growing up. DM couldn't face constantly clearing up the needles and, having stood on some at a friend's house, I wholeheartedly agree!

Happy birthday LittlestWreck 🎈🎂🎈

happytobemrsg · 26/11/2023 09:04

Morning 👋🏻 hope it’s ok to join. Got out winter decor last weekend (changes cushions, added throws etc). Will hopefully putting up the tree today. I know it’s early but works hard & I need the cheer only twinkly lights can bring! Gone with a new colour scheme this year so I’m super excited to see everything out. All presents are wrapped with just a few stragglers I’m waiting to arrive from this weekends sales. I always make sure the wrapping is done in time for the tree.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/11/2023 09:57

Hello mrsg welcome aboard Xmas Grin

I wrapped DD Dec 1st Box presents . I know this thread is "Safe Space" no-one will do the raised arched eyebrows "Dec 1st Box? More presents/more tat/Is This A Thing/What fresh hell is this" that you get on other threads.
It's pyjamas , not Christmassey .
Skincare , nail products. hair products, showergel Alll things she will use and nice to have in the run up rather than at Christmas .
She'll get some clothes for Christmas (her choice) that we;ll go out for in a couple of weeks .
DS Dec 1st Box is in a big gift bag that I dragged out of his wardrobe and it's still ok (years old Xmas Grin ) no gift wrap , he doesn't want all that malarkey .

Our tree is still staying safely in the attic as our cats are still a threat to it .

I bought some light up ceramic bells (I have a large one that is lovely) they can hang on the bannister . And some festive coasters (practical)

DH and DS watched the new Dr Who last night ( I was loitering on the edges ) . If you told me it was the Sarah Jane Adventures I'd have believed you .
I will watch the David Tennant/David Morrisey Dr Who episode "The Next Doctor" again , I do every year .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/11/2023 09:59

Happy Birthday WreckDS
Enjoy the shopping and the BBQ

NoWordForFluffy · 26/11/2023 10:05

Happy birthday, Mini Wreck!

It feels weird not to be doing our tree this weekend, but I'm not decorating trees, to take them down and then redecorate in the new house! The towels and loo roll will go out from 1 December, but that's as far as it gets until we've moved.

I might make more mince pies later, but otherwise it's standard domestic stuff today. I did go to the allotment to feed the birds / cut the raspberry canes down, but my Raynaud's kicked in badly, so I had to come away as my fingers hurt too much.
