Countdown to Christmas 2023: It's the final countdown (thread 3)

Morning!

It's the final Rudolph Day of the year! A month today is the big day!

I'm sending DH off to his parents' house with the kids so I can wrap today. I usually fail to be Christmassy on Rudolph Days! 🤣

When you walk round empty rooms and imagine how they;ll look with your furniture and belongings in them.

And ,......... The Christmas Trees (plural)

Shopping was good and bad , some things on my list were OOS , DD didn't get the jeans she was after but I've suggested we go out in Sunday early doors .
We;re going up to That London next weekend so we can go for a ponce about in Covent garden too .

I've ordered some fabric napkins (my tablecover is red/green) and I can put some ivy from the garden round LED candles as my centrepiece .

The star couldn't go up tonight. We weren't as productive as we'd hoped to be once we got the keys, so it's going up tomorrow. ⭐️

Hopefully painting won't be a stupidly long job tomorrow and Sunday, so we can also get curtain poles up etc. I got the lampshades up in the lounge this evening, and taped the rooms I'm painting. So I just need to put the dust sheets down and go for it!

DH built the coat rack and filled in some settlement cracks in DS' room.

Lots of little jobs getting done. 😁

I am away in our cabin till Monday. I haven't slept well even though the bed isn't too bad. I was sweltering when I went to bed so I opened the window for a while. Underfloor heating is very efficient.

The weather is supposed to be horrendous today so not sure what we will do yet.

I've been awake since 5.30. Unimpressed! And tired. We were measuring furniture at about 12.30 last night to plan our bedroom! 😩

Painting for me today. Hopefully I can get the bedrooms mostly done, especially as I taped last night.

I hope I am not in a horror film. That would not be a good birthday celebration at all. Having survived without being bumped off last night, hopefully the next two nights will be the same.

Congratulations Fluffy! Hope all is going well.
I am planning to decorate this weekend too 70. I might even do a batch of Christmas baking. Then I am seeing A Christmas Carol so that should boost my Christmas mojo.
I had my work Christmas do yesterday crazy, but was home by 10pm with a cup of tea!
Enjoy your weekend Why. DH snd I like a murder mystery weekend as long as we're not the victims!

Never run upstairs (ypu'll get trapped)
Or into the cellar (ditto)
If you take a torch , the batteries will fail . You;ll go Oh damn it shake the torch , the light will come back and illuminate whatever you;re trying to escape from
Don't be floating about in a nightie and heeled slippers, especially in a cellar
If you are young,pretty,blonde then you're the first victim.
Never say Oh everythings ok, it was just the wind. Nothing to worry about ..... Boom.

Follow up top tips:
Don't hide under the bed or in the wardrobe
Don't have your mobile phone ringer on
Don't say to whoever you're with "it's ok, you stay there, I'll go and check it out" and go outside

And now I have to stop as I'm home alone this evening!

I did have a fuzzy head this morning but DH very kindly brought me tea and toast in bed and we had bacon sandwiches for lunch - this kicked the hangover into touch nicely.

Seeing The Grinch on the big screen was fun today. The kids were so excited, it was lovely.

Also had a wander around town and a hot choc with my mum before coming home.
I'll be taking DH to his works do soon, then back to watch Home Alone 2 and maybe a second festive film while I enjoy wrapping the presents (it's usually muppets Christmas Carol but I'm going to see that next weekend so am saving it).

Fluffy I hope you've accomplished a chunk of your to do list today.

Evening!

Sounds like a lovely day, Crazy (if we ignore the hangover!).

We haven't got as much done as anticipated mostly because DH is king of faff and didn't get his arse into gear before 11. However, I'm probably where I should be with painting, give or take a wall, especially as we had to have a long meeting with a tape measure in the bedroom! 😳🤣 It's not big enough to house all of our furniture, so we had to work out what to keep and where. It appears you're not meant to have a wardrobe. 🙄😩

I'm painting our room tomorrow and finishing DS'. His dark blue needed two coats, annoying. And the paint smells really odd, like apple juice that's gone bad. Only one wall left for him now though.

It's 55mph winds here. It's delayed the star going up, as it's really not ladder weather!

Wet here today after the awful winds of yesterday.

We are on a mission today with decorating DH needs a rocket up his arse. And I'm doing 🎄🎄with the kids once I've painted our bedroom.

I've managed two shopping trips and came back without some of the things on my list ( this is "Shopping" shopping not supermarket )

Next week I have my Covid vaccine , then I'll potter along to Waitrose then wrap DDs presents .
Next Saturday we're going to the theatre ( A Sherlock Carol) and a wander round Covent Garden first . I'll have to check what shops are there .

How frustrating 70. Will you get chance to go out and get the missing items?

I've put up our trees and done most of the decorations. There are a few cushions to put out but I'll do that tomorrow as they are kept in the ottoman under my bed and I didn't want anyone to see the presents that are hidden there.

I'm currently knitting a present that DD2 has asked me to make for one of her colleagues. I've finished all my own Christmas crafting so it's nice to be making something without having a mad deadline and be working on adrenaline 😂
