We have the full size alexa and the sound is decent. DH has a jbl charge 3 which he bought after a fair bit of research a few years ago and it's good but possibly has more up to date versions now.

What are nice shower gel and deodorant brands for the young man about town these days? I’ve got mine some fancy Harry’s razors but looking for more ideas.

Also any suggestions for slightly acne-y/sensitive skin products that are stocking suitable?

I’ve bought blue musk zest (I think it’s called) hair and body wash from The Body Shop for 15yo DS. It’s very nice indeed and well worth £9 (TBS are doing 25% off this price this weekend). Molton Brown blissful templetree is also really nice but more than twice the price.

lorn195 · 19/11/2023 14:05

Chilli game for Uni

Costa voucher

I am too. Think I need to find a thread for lower income people!

Do you have a link please? DS2 does film studies and this would be great.

I bought it two christmases ago and it is now at uni so I can't check the exact make/model but it was something very like this

trevthecat · 19/11/2023 16:11

Fab thread, and another crimpit sale!!

Pippu · 19/11/2023 16:38

My DSs are mid twenties but so far from this thread I've ordered two Crimpets, two govee lights and I'm on a mission for a 60 box of freddos

NormalForNuneaton · 19/11/2023 17:37

I've bought the crimpits too, one each for DD and DS. Also the airpods cleaner.

Food wise for the stocking , I was in Tesco earlier and picked up the compulsory Terrys Chocolate Oranges but also Baileys flavoured Leibniz biscuits as they both love Baileys. Cheap filler too (£1.35 with a Clubcard)

Changednayme · 19/11/2023 17:39

Those are expensive things

MelsMoneyTree · 19/11/2023 17:48

This thread reads like a crimpit advert - it's hilarious! No crimpits for us.

DS 16

thaegumathteth · 19/11/2023 17:55

Adidas t shirt
Trackies
LOADS of books
PlayStation headset
Aftershave
Football team retro shirt

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/11/2023 17:59

Ds (18)
Book he has been asking for
Cast iron frying pan.

Not with me for stockings etc But if he was he would get some small jam jars for him to put his spice blend creations in, and some fancy herbs/mixes/infused oils

Might not seem a lot but honestly he is going to be ecstatic with the pan because he has been asking for one, and trying to convince me how much he could do if he had one. No idea where on earth we are going to store it in the kitchen, but we'll figure that out.

It is a nice idea, lets hope we are not all on here on the 26th of December complaining our attempt at a turkey and cranberry sauce wrap Crimpit style was crap, it fell to pieces, the hinge broke and it is a pain in the arse to clean 🤣

Chickoletta · 19/11/2023 18:28

@FelicityGraceSpoon - Thanks so much for the Crimpit tip - bought one for my nephew who is in his first year at uni. Got the BOGOF offer so have one for myself too!

DH has two, a big one and a small one. The big one was apparently for my birthday, I've never used it and can't even lift it. He uses it all the time. This is one of the reasons we are currently seperating...

However, what a was going to say is that he seemed to do some complex thing with the pans from new that required a lot of sandpaper and baking them in the oven. To be honest I didn't pay too much attention (funnily enough) but I thought you might need to get DS some sandpaper to go with his pan.

YouBelongWithMe · 19/11/2023 18:49

My son is 16.5, has a PT job and gets CDA, so has more money than I do! He's at a total loss because he needs nothing, isn't into labels and anything he does need, he buys himself.

So far we've got him:

  • A 4 by 4 Rubik's Cube
  • New headphones (fairly basic over the ears ones from Amazon, he didn't want fancy ones)
  • A shower gel/shampoo/deo set
  • Rubik's cube keychain with a new house key (all three are getting a new house key and keychain in their stockings!)
  • A book on ants and how they organise themselves
  • I might get him a new hoodie, but he's fairly uninterested in clothes

He will get lots of pringles / nuts / chocolate.

Last Boxing Day he was rushed to high dependency and was in for a week treating undiagnosed T1 diabetes. This meant he didn't get the chance to build the Lego set we buy each of them every year, as a Boxing Day tradition. It was a fairly big one (some kind of lunar expedition set) so I'm going to rewrap and put it under the tree for this Boxing Day 🤣

What is the magnet and bolts office display toy?...

Funtime Gifts Create Your Own Magnetic Sculpture Decor Desktop Gift https://amzn.eu/d/3yWj0Yg

£7, what's not to love about that?

We used to have one in our living room in the 80s.

LeviOsaNotLeviosaa · 19/11/2023 19:05

DS1 is 15, 16 in April. He got a meta quest last year and is fortunate enough to have acquired a PS5 and gaming PC over the year, as well as my iPhone 13 when I upgraded, so no tech for him this year.

He's just recently got into working out, protein shakes etc. He's asked for a blender (grandparents have got him) and a pull up bar.

We're currently in the process of clearing out the garage so that we can create a proper gym area for him. He has some weights he was given by a family friend already, but no proper space to use them. We're going to kit him out with the appropriate flooring and a multigym. I'll be trying to get this second hand. We'll pop a giant bow on the interior garage door to show him.

Under the tree he has:
Crimpit, which I'd bought a while ago, so not influenced by this thread!
Star wars bedding
AirPods (he's desperate for these but would never ask, I got a bundle with my new phone and didn't tell him or use them).
Band T-shirt
Lego
Star Wars paper plane book

Notable stocking items are:
Happy Socks set
Sriracha keyring
Airpod Case
AirPod Cleaner
Sweatbands
Newton's Cradle
PlayStation Mug

Thanks for the thought! We are currently in DIY hell so there is plenty of sandpaper on hand, fine fine fine grit for some finishing work/hobby stuff too. There was muttering about a blow torch. But I have proper how to season videos on hand for him that use neither sandpaper nor blow torches. Ds will be most disappointed. Grin But seasoning can be a proper pita.
