I have the following on my list for my just turned 17 year old boy - he won't receive it all but they're ideas under consideration! Would love to see your lists

Theragun (this I have bought already - managed to get one for under £100)

Xbox series X (hoping for another price drop)

iPad - his existing one is 5 years old and used daily

Nike Tech tracksuits / Fred Perry hoodie / Ralph Lauren tracksuit / Nike t shirts / Nike dri fit tracksuits

Fiddle cubes + toys

Home made sweets and crisps hamper

Crimpit

I may have just ordered the Crimpits too! I went for the wrap one as I think it would get more use with my DS.

I saw Crimpits mentioned on another thread and honestly thought they were a hair styling thing for retro 80s hairs 🤣

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I thought the same when I read @FelicityGraceSpoon op and only went to google to see what on earth teen boys were doing to their hair! 🤣

Great thread. So far my (just) 18yo has

Fluffy crocs (Amazon Black Friday)
Non brand oodie
Kinetic sand art picture
ipod cleaner
Magnet and bolts office display toy
Car dashboard (!)

He wants apple play for his car. Not sure if that's more than we want to do spend nd tho.

What is the magnet and bolts office display toy?...

Got ds a Velvetiser as part of his 17th birthday present. He was a bit meh but at first but has used it at least 3 times a week since then and enjoys all of the different choc sachet flavours.
Another one here for a Crimpit for Xmas!

Eeepsh · 19/11/2023 11:51

And the crimpits are a bargain- just been in Dyas and they're £11.99 each!

Leafsliding · 19/11/2023 11:52

I need mumsnet threads to be searchable ! I’ve got a 15 DS who fidgets with balls of blue tac .. anyone got any good ideas for fidget toys that might replace ? Be great to get away from the blue tac

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 19/11/2023 12:01

Might have just got the Crimpits. Two of each. So that's some more presents for the older DS and DH. They will be perfect for him as he works away. Thank you.

Rollingdownland · 19/11/2023 12:32

Thanks to this thread I've ordered a Velvetiser for my son. NB you get it cheaply if you join Hotel Chocolat's VIP club - £70 instead of £100

FelicityGraceSpoon · 19/11/2023 12:38

@Rollingdownland by joining the club are you then committing to a monthly subscription of hot chocolate flakes?

Just flagging in case this isn't something you spotted

@Leafsliding you probably need Theraputty! I've got a couple of tubs of that for Christmas which I'd forgotten about

You get different 'strengths' depending on how firm your son likes the kneading to be!

Reusable and comes in its own tub

Rollingdownland · 19/11/2023 12:43

Thanks for flagging @FelicityGraceSpoon but I've checked and no, thankfully, that is not what I signed up for!

Appreciate the warning!

FelicityGraceSpoon · 19/11/2023 12:48

@Rollingdownland ooh I'll have a look then! I do have a velvetiser but I've lost the bloody top from it. Still works just fine but it'd probably be better with the lid and I dandy the copper one!

Rollingdownland · 19/11/2023 13:08

My 17 yo likes Burberry Hero @Gemi33

ChishiyaBat · 19/11/2023 13:16

Ds 23- Socks, socks and more socks the only thing he asked for😂. Gave him cash though. Also a stocking full of toiletries and sweet treats.

Ds 15- Ps5, Green Day ticket. And the stocking as above.

frecklejuice · 19/11/2023 13:24

My ds is loaning that his echo dot has terrible sound (I'm not surprised because it's so old),

I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on getting him a better Alexa or a Bluetooth speaker? He doesn't use the Alexa for anything other than music and I don't know what the sound is like on the echo shows or anything.

Snooks1971 · 19/11/2023 13:46

zeebee · 19/11/2023 10:17

@wlv12 please could you tell me more about the drum show? I did not know such a thing existed and sounds amazing for DS. Is it the one in Sept next year, as says tickets not available. Thank you!

I dithered and got both sets too 😂

Snooks1971 · 19/11/2023 13:48

Oh god sorry wrong quote!

TheWitchCirce · 19/11/2023 13:51

One of the best presents that I ever got for DS was a decent projector for movies from his laptop.

Snooks1971 · 19/11/2023 13:51

Oxonc3 · 19/11/2023 10:37

I couldn't decide which crimpet so got both 🤪. The stress/fidget toy mentioned on here actually has ‘featured on mumsnet’ and someone earns a commission on it- never seen that before

Me too! (Crimpets) Dithered so bought both sets, might give one of each to my parents, the other one of each for both DSs.

Blanketpolicy · 19/11/2023 13:52

@frecklejuice If you are sticking with echo the show isnt much different to the dot soundwise, i think the quality is good generally (ours are 2nd hand and at least 4 years old) for music at a reasonable volume , but not sure what he is looking for? Louder volume? More bass?

There is an echo speaker that is probably a bit better, but otherwise if he is looking for pure sound you might be better looking towards sony etc. But maybe get from him what he is looking for before spending a fortune. I know my brothers were really into music sound at that age and had very specific tastes.

Do you have a link please? DS2 does film studies and this would be great.
