Have I missed the Hallmark/Netflix/ Amazon prime thread on all those cheesy Prince from (insert unlikely name for snowy European country) meets girl from New York films?

Anyone share my guilty pleasure of these so awful they’re good films?

please tell me I’m not the only one here.

For those that like Mrs Miracle - as others have said 1&2 are on My5 but the first one is only available to the 21st November- today!

HallmarkGingerbreadWoman · 21/11/2023 08:19

@HermioneWeasley 'Christmas attacks soon' Grin

This is absolutely outstanding, can we start a petition for Ch5 to make this?? We'll need to do a vote on whether Candace or Lacey get the lead role ...

mogtheexcellent · 21/11/2023 12:34

I have a spreadsheet of my faves, plus descriptions to remind me of the story.

Anything with Robin Dunne, merritt Paterson, Trevor Donovan, erin karplunk and brooke Nevin will be good.

Im afraid I really dislike Lacey Chaubert. No idea why.

Raahh · 21/11/2023 16:15

'Sense , Sensibility and Snowmen' (with leads called Ella and Marianne, who run a party planning business called Dashworks Grin) has just started on Christmas 24. It's also about a toy company owner called Edward Ferris. Yes, they lay the Austen references on thick Grin.

Erin Krakow is in this one, another stalwart of the Festive movie flick Grin.

“The search for secret santa”. Was just ok, not a favourite. It lacked hot chocolate, cookies and Christmas trees!

HallmarkGingerbreadWoman · 22/11/2023 21:59

No Christmas trees?? Did they make the wrong film by mistake?? Grin

A Hot Chocolate Holiday and A Gingerbread Christmas were both charmingly average.

Has anyone seen the Lacey Chabert Pride & Prejudice one?

Just finished the second Princess switch and about to start the third

Bizarrely I am NOT a Christmas fan but I love the films

I’ve just finished the third. I can’t get over how good VH is at playing someone playing someone else if you see what I mean, can’t be easy!

DH is a big burly hgv driver.
He is a closet cheesy Christmas film lover. I often find him on a Sunday afternoon, in front the tv, glued of one of these.

My DH is the same, he’s not a truck driver though. I’ve posted about him on another Christmas film thread. He sits there with a soppy smile on his face all through the film.

Humanlifeform · 24/11/2023 10:10

Danica McKellar is your go to actress for cheesy Hallmark Christmas films isn't she?

' A Crown for Christmas' with her and Rupert Penry Jones just ticks every single box...New York Girl becomes a Nanny to a mysterious European Prince ( who's also a single dad, obviously)

Genuinely the Christmas film benchmark for all ordinary ( yet incredibly beautiful and single) girl meets single rich/ aristocrat needs his heart thawing man

Humanlifeform · 24/11/2023 10:26

Also Danica is in 'Christmas at Dollywood' which I haven't seen yet, but looking forward to watching as it's available on Amazon Prime ( and Hallmark Channel):

“Christmas at candy lane”. Bit silly but very festive !

EwwSprouts · 24/11/2023 17:39

Christmas at Dollywood added to the watchlist.

I asked an American friend (lives in UK now) why she had never invited me to a Christmas cookie trail and she didn't know what I was on about. I had to explain to her and was properly devastated!

I watched Mr Christmas the other day. He is a freelance gift buyer who works on word of mouth recommendations (yet lives in a beautiful bachelor pad!) and an old friend looks him up when he needs a Christmas present for his girlfriend who he can feel slipping away.

For the first time in a cheesy Christmas film, a proper punch is thrown! The drama almost felt gritty after hours of watching cute couples making snowmen and baking!

Notonthestairs · 24/11/2023 20:47

Anyone remember from last year a Hallmark film where a European King from random country and his mother get stranded in a Vermont B&B. There's something about a pyjama ball and the King falls in love with B&B owners daughter (obviously!) and comes back and gives her a pair of royal slippers.

Terrible but I loved it. I can't remember the name.

I liked that one!

Think that would be One Royal Holiday aka One Royal Christmas.

Completely different sort of cheesy Christmas movie - Violent Night. Just watched it again on Sky Premier, if you like OTT violence, extremely daft humour, David Harbour and a genuinely adorable child actor then this is the movie for you!

Notonthestairs · 24/11/2023 22:06

Thank you! - one for anyone that enjoyed a Crown for Christmas (though sadly lacking Rupert Penry Jones)

MrsMitford3 · 25/11/2023 17:23

Just coming on to say I have just watched This is Christmas and it is so lovely-Timothy Spall achingly good.

No royalty sadly but a very nice feel good Christmas story. One of my new must watches!!

SequinsandStiIettos · 25/11/2023 18:11

ExMas on Prime is good, albeit I am going to have to watch it in two halves.

VillageFete · 25/11/2023 23:47

“Christmas in Notting Hill” debuted on Hallmark today.

Huge British “soccer star” (They clearly mean football) Falls for American tourist, in i’m guessing, Notting Hill during December.

I hope we can catch that one soon!

witchypaws · 25/11/2023 23:51

Really enjoyed once upon a Christmas miracle (prime)

HallmarkGingerbreadWoman · 26/11/2023 18:18

Just started 'A Christmas Engagement' and it's off to a great start with a cat called Tater Tot!
