Tesco slots

Anyone else getting up at stupid o'clock tomorrow to nab their slot? Hate this bloody process every year, wish they’d come up with a better way to do it!

Sadly Tesco are the only reliable option here so I’m tied in 🙄 last year a thread on here kept me going through the early hours so I’m hoping some of you are around again tomorrow!

I’ve been an off peak saver member for years and it’s really annoyed me that this time we cannot book a slot until 21st. So I’ve voted with my feet and booked Waitrose

MyAnacondaMight · 07/11/2023 08:24

Zone 3 East London. Just got on after 40 minute wait (down from over an hour) and there was loads of availability 22-24 December.

Whether or not items will be in stock is another matter..:

flaxentoad · 07/11/2023 08:30

Got mine just after 6am and got some pre-stuffed turkey thing ordered. That part of the order is guaranteed at least!

I am a 30 mile round trip from nearest supermarket and hate crowds and get a weekly shop anyway.

I have been lucky I guess as something vital has never not arrived for me at Xmas, but I am fairly flexible with most stuff anyway.

I hate crowds and supermarket shopping, always have. At least by doing this, that's one fewer person crowding up the supermarket so those who like to shop in person have a bit more space to do that.

Hope it works out for everyone, whatever way they like to do it.

logged on at 6.40am this morning, in a queue until 8am and got a delivery on the 23rd! Result! but half the stuff we want or need will be substituted I'm sure.

Emmacb82 · 07/11/2023 09:12

I was on at 5:45 and had slot booked and food ordered by 6:20. I use it for the food to order for turkey etc as that is guaranteed. Most other things I’ll get on the lead up to it. I’m happy to do some in store shopping but I’ve been a delivery saver since covid times and have got used to a weekly delivery. Much easier than dragging kids shopping and anything else we need on top dh will pop out and get

RustyBear · 07/11/2023 09:54

Put it in my calendar but forgot to set an alert. I went on just now and easily got a click & collect slot for the 23rd. Probably won’t bother to set an alarm next year!

Mummumgem · 07/11/2023 10:04

Reading people’s comments on here can I ask, does everyone go through and select their actual shop for that delivery?

ive booked a weekly delivery from this Thursday right up to the week before Christmas (last one on the Friday the nearest Christmas date I could get) but I haven’t selected what I want to be delivered on each shop. I just select a previous order drop it into the basket and go through the checkout. I then alter it a couple of days before delivery.

ordering stuff now doesn’t guarantee you will get it, and the offers change anyway.

No I've just done the same as you, when people talk about food being guaranteed I assume they mean the 'food to order' stuff which is guaranteed I thought?

Spacie · 07/11/2023 10:08

I've just checked out of curiosity and 22nd and 23rd are fully booked and 21st only has a few slots left - so it is worth setting the alarm (at least in my area)

TheseLegsDefinitelyUsedToBeLonger · 07/11/2023 10:14

Yeah I booked an order for delivery today and they’ve still got plenty of slots!

OhamIreally · 07/11/2023 11:34

I always used to get an Ocado slot. Also used to pre-order from M&S. Last year went away for winter sun until the 22nd then on the 23rd ambled down to M&S and got everything I needed bar some seafood which admittedly there was a big queue at the fishmonger for.

Yes, I just chuck something in the basket to check out. Usually bananas!

The "Food to Order" is guaranteed though.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/11/2023 12:06

It's fine to just chuck something in the basket to order, but best to update it properly at least a week in advance at Christmas.

AlwaysGinPlease · 07/11/2023 12:10

@flaxentoad always bananas here too 😊

HeavenKnowsIamMiserableNow · 07/11/2023 12:16

I got the day I wanted after an hour, turned on the electric blanket and had a glorious three hour snooze. Now sitting at the golf club, DH playing golf I have a glass of wine and a good book and the sun is streaming through the windows. Later we are going to a garden centre (famous around here) to look at Christmas decorations. Today is a good day. 😂

Bloody love being retired.

GreenDay9irl · 07/11/2023 13:31

alarm went off 5:45, straight into waiting room with paused queue. Dosed and woke at 6:25 to 1 min left. Checked out by 6:27.
much better than last year.

GreenDay9irl · 07/11/2023 13:42

Last year I booked all the Saturdays up to Christmas and I didn’t lose any.
now my usual slot is a Friday so have booked all Fridays to Christmas and still in my orders

Nippi · 07/11/2023 14:01

I usually get a delivery every Saturday, it's an hour round trip for me to go to Tescos. I could only get a slot on the 22nd which is fine for Christmas but I have most of my guests on the 29th so I really want a big shop on the 28th. Anyone know when the post Christmas slots open?

GreenDay9irl · 07/11/2023 14:23

If it is like last year I’m sure the new year slots will be available next week.
i think tomorrow will have tue 26th, thurs will have 27th fri the 28th. Tho I’m sure they disappear when booking is open to everyone on the 21st nov.

Bellyblueboy · 07/11/2023 19:28

I queued from 5am and got a slot for 9pm on 23rd!!! I though they were delivering on Christmas Eve so got a bit confused 😂

Nah, I just chuck one item in to secure the slot, then do my shop during the week before delivery.

DisingenuousBatshittery · 08/11/2023 15:54

One year I would like Tesco to recognise how much money I spend with them during the year and just give me the same Christmas week slot I always have, rather than punishing me by sticking me in a long queue at stupid o'clock.

Oh yes, if they allocated slots on money spent I'd be near the top of that queue. I feel I have nearly "bought" tescos over the 40 years I've shopped there.

OneMoreStepAlongTheRoadIGo · 08/11/2023 16:52

I thought I'd be eligible but didnt realise my plan was off peak.

Do we think they release more slots on the 21st - or will the 22/23 have completely gone?!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 09/11/2023 04:25

@OneMoreStepAlongTheRoadIGo. I think they will release more slots for the 22/23/24. I'm fairly sure they did last year
