Tesco slots

Anyone else getting up at stupid o'clock tomorrow to nab their slot? Hate this bloody process every year, wish they’d come up with a better way to do it!

Sadly Tesco are the only reliable option here so I’m tied in 🙄 last year a thread on here kept me going through the early hours so I’m hoping some of you are around again tomorrow!

I agree @PostPopper - that’s what Ocado do

Spirro · 06/11/2023 21:06

Bear in mind that only those who are paying for the peak delivery saver plan can book Xmas slots in advance now. It used to be ALL delivery saver customers could book a slot. But this year if you’re an off peak delivery saver customer you can’t book a slot any more.

I have retaliated by cancelling my off peak delivery saver plan and doing my entire shop elsewhere. If I’m not good enough to be allowed to book a Xmas slot this year then they can fuck off.

Celebrationsnakes · 06/11/2023 21:09

My alarm is set too!

Totally agree - I was so annoyed at this change. DH did ‘upgrade’ us to the more expensive one mainly because of the Christmas slot, I don’t like it though and it feels underhand.

Alarm set for stupid o’clock here too, typical as the kids have only just started sleeping past 6!

I’ve never had major substitution issues, including at Christmas, as long as I log on the night before and update my order. Means I can choose from the most up to date options. Still get the odd substitution but it helps. We’re hosting this year and I’ve not quite figured out what to serve, whether to cook it all from scratch or get most bits ready made!

Yes - and I make sure anything that I’d be unhappy being substituted has been bought in advance and frozen/stored. Appreciate this isn’t possible for everyone though. Also our store seem to be pretty sensible with subs, I know it varies.

I got an email about this today, I didn’t know it was such a big thing until seeing this thread!
I’m up just before 6 anyway to get ready for work, do I try and join the queue when I get up or wait for 6 on the dot?

If last year is anything to go by then get in the queue asap.

My alarm last year was at 5.50 and it took me well over an hour to get in and book my slot.

Ughhhh I hate doing this every year! I feel robbed losing morning sleep and feel crap for the rest of the day after desperately trying to keep my eyes open long enough to stay in the queue and not lose my position/chance to secure a slot.
wish they did it late evening/night rather than the early morning!

AdoraBell · 06/11/2023 23:07

Hope you get your delivery slots.

NameNumber2 · 07/11/2023 05:08

I have been up since 4am infrequently refreshing the page hoping for a not long queue time, nothing doing yet.

Any idea what time the queue opens?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 07/11/2023 05:11

What are you getting? I've just got the next 4 weeks, as usual.

PurBal · 07/11/2023 05:15

I’m awake. Forgot about the slots but unless DS wakes early I’ll join. I normal forget I need a slot so end up having to go to the supermarket on the run up.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 07/11/2023 05:15

I'm awake anyway, so will have a go and a getting a slot. I did in previous years. I do tend to buy everything I possibly can in advance plus main parts of the two Christmas dinners I'm cooking this year are coming from somewhere else, so it's not a disaster if I don't get a slot.

VocalFryUp · 07/11/2023 05:16

If I’m logged in now, will I automatically be put in a queue when it opens?
Last year I logged in just as it opened and was put in a queue but wondering what happens if you’re already logged in?

BatshitCrazyWoman · 07/11/2023 05:19

delishdelosh · 06/11/2023 20:00

A less hideously early time would be good - maybe 6pm! Then at least I could have a wine while I’m watching the countdown…

I much prefer the morning, otherwise I'd be trying to sort it out on my commute, with intermittent internet and trains going through tunnels!

I don't think 6am is particularly early, but I have to get up over an hour before then for work.

NameNumber2 · 07/11/2023 05:19

I don't really known re being logged in already, I just keep refreshing the page - having had a look it appears that the queue may open around 5:45am.

I have my basket ready to go so I promise to be very quick when I get in!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 07/11/2023 05:22

Last year I was accidentally quite early in the queue, as I'd already done something. Trouble is, I can't remember what!

CarInsuranceIssue · 07/11/2023 05:22

I managed to grab a slot last night for an evening delivery on 23/12 with Sainsburys.

Ok, thank you. I’ll keep refreshing then. 😬 I’m hoping for a quick in and out too. I think I only waited about 20 minutes in the queue last year so fingers crossed for us all.

Alasitsme · 07/11/2023 05:24

Barely slept all night worrying about bloody Tesco slots! Much preferred it when they did it at midnight so you could get it and then sleep!!

ApplesinmyPocket · 07/11/2023 05:24

"Every year I despair at how many seem to think putting an online order in middle of November guarentees them items."

Maybe some think that, but many (like me) want to get special-order Christmas items, which ARE guaranteed to arrive in the order. You don't have to make your mind up on them now, I think you get till mid-Dec to edit the special order items, but worth putting anything you specially want in the minute you get the slot, as some items do seem to 'sell out' early.

VocalFryUp · 07/11/2023 05:25

🤣🤣🤣

ifIwerenotanandroid · 07/11/2023 05:27

The first year I did this, I just picked 2 special Christmas meat items & stuck them in the basket as a placeholder. Then, when I tried to edit them just before Christmas, I couldn't as they'd been assigned to us! Luckily, they were delicious.

VocalFryUp · 07/11/2023 05:29

I’m happy if the majority arrives, I don’t mind popping in for a few things, I just can’t stand doing a full shop. We have got everything delivered in previous years, maybe one or two minor substitutions but not much.

delishdelosh · 07/11/2023 05:37

Well, where's the queue! Can't believe I'm awake earlier than I need to be! Especially as the kids were up and down all night. It's going to be a long day.
