Yesterday, I was sitting at home and kids started saying they wanted the Christmas tree up. Normally, it goes up about the 20ish of December- so quite early by most people's standards anyway!

But, I don't know what came over me. It's all up and decorated. Now, I'm sitting here cooking a Sunday roast and booking Christmas activities Grin

Let the Christmas cheer begin!!

CesareBorgia · 05/11/2023 11:34

Good for you - enjoy it Xmas Smile

TheShellBeach · 05/11/2023 11:35

I'd love to put ours up but I'm going to wait another three weeks. Halloween Grin

rdgaisnhyg · 05/11/2023 11:38

I'm not admitting to anyone is RL that the tree is up Blush but if someone pops in they will see it in all its glory (and probably think I am crazy Grin)

Enjoy! Anything that brightens up the dark, dull, miserable days of Autumn is alright in my book. 🎄

ShowOfHands · 05/11/2023 11:43

I saw two houses decorated yesterday.

It's far too early for me to join in but I do like to see it. It's light in the dark and I find that utterly pleasing. I don't think I even associate it with Christmas this early. I reckon you can just argue it's a winter decoration.

Discwriter · 05/11/2023 11:45

Ah I love that! Enjoy OP!

jlpth · 05/11/2023 11:47

Well if you enjoy it OP, it's all good.

pear6782 · 05/11/2023 11:53

I’ve just put mine up too! Well, still got to decorate but the lights are on! My oldest DS was saying it’s too early but I’m excited anyway! Enjoy your tree OP!

itsmyp4rty · 05/11/2023 11:53

Why not if it makes you happy, not hurting anyone else. We'll put our fake one up in a couple of weeks and then the real one up a week or two into December.

SandyWaves · 05/11/2023 12:01

This made me smile this morning!

I am waiting until the first weekend of December but I am sat here listening to non stop Christmas music being played by my DC. I can't handle it!!!

Tambatamba · 05/11/2023 12:03

Each to their own. I would get bored of them but if it makes you feel happier then why not?

TwoItalianApples · 05/11/2023 12:03

You are in good company! Fortnums yesterday

There must be something in the air because I put mine up last night! Same, I'll be keeping it a secret in real life too 🤣

Mine is a new, luxury tree this year. I've never had a flocked one nor one with so many branches to fluff, plus we need to rearrange the living room to fit it in so figured it's best to just put it up and have time to adjust to it, than put it up at my usual time and be stressed if the new layout doesn't work etc.

I have so many decs already but couldn't imagine what would be nice against the flocking so that's another reason/excuse to put it up early!
It's been iffy going Christmas shopping and not being able to decided on whether something I liked would work...

I think that's all my reasoning/excuses 😁 ... But also I'm in love with it and having had a very rough past month, a close relative at deaths door until the odds finally swayed in their favour. I'm just ready for a distraction and cosy, chilled out evenings. 👏 Op, do what makes you happy (even if we do it in secret from the neighbours! 😁)

Bronzenettle · 05/11/2023 12:04

I mean each to their own and there’s worse things you could have in your house (piles of clutter, overflowing bin bags, rats, cliff Richard posters etc.) but this just seems so bizarre to me!
i guess as Christmas moves away from being a religious festival and towards being a secular ‘season’ it will seem less odd!

AuntieStella · 05/11/2023 12:05

Well, if you enjoy it....

Personally, I think it's better to wait until Advent Sunday (which can be in November, but is 3 December this year), or at least until after Remembrance Day.

I hope that you will be keeping decorations up through the full 12 Days of Christmas (down on 6th Jan, which is the day after that and Epiphany)

Olika · 05/11/2023 12:05

I was just thinking earlier when we could put the tree up. Smile

TheWitche · 05/11/2023 12:10

I can’t cope with the over cluttering of Christmas declarations so I’m definitely waiting till the first week in December! If I put it up now it would be down in a few weeks 🤣🤣

OllieCollieWoo · 05/11/2023 12:12

Hell. NO.
Love from the Grinch.

BrimfulOfMash · 05/11/2023 12:14

Moonshine86 · 05/11/2023 12:16

Proof of it didn’t happen. Love a tree pic!

This. I don’t mind when people put them up but hate this new trend of taking them down so early, feels like people are rushing through life now.

Ooft sorry op 5th November a bit early even for me and I love Christmas, think of the electricity bills 😂😂😭

it costs about 15p to run Xmas tree lights for 6 hours a day for a month. I know she’s living recklessly but assuming she’s happy to blow that 30 p. 😂
