Hi everyone.

I know there are threads that go on RE Christmas present ideas, but personally I find it hard to skim through these to get ideas (as it descends into chat IMO). I also think it would be good to have a thread for only adult present ideas/ deals.

I would love for this thread to only have links and descriptions posted so its easier to scroll through and find good ideas (no comments)Grin

I'll go first - here are some of my ideas already:
Chillys bottle currently £4 off
Big bobble hats (not on offer but very cool idea IMO)
Xmas bauble with family faces in
Powder (fire safe) candle
(not linked) but portable chargers are handy to have
These Lulu lemon mens boxers which I bought for my partner to do sport and he absolutely swears by them
Adult lego - specifically linked this one as I think it's incredibleGrin

Any reciprocated ideas/help hugely appreciated 🙏

EDIT: please don't comment to follow the thread but instead click 'watch thread'

My parents have the same present every year - a personalised calendar of the family pets! It costs next to nothing but they both love the surprise of what photos we managed to get throughout the year. They never get thrown away either, they have about 5 years worth of calendars at home.

Not quite the point of the post, but may help someone. When it comes to stockings, last year we (2 adults, 2 teens) did secret Santa stockings. Took the pressure off of me having to think of gifts for everyone and the teens LOVED being involved. They were more excited about giving their stockings on the day than getting their own presents. This year they've asked to include my parents too.

@Callipygion thank you for posting that, i live in my turtle doves, they're perfect for driving in, but my old pair were/are getting a bit battered now. .

villanova · 30/09/2023 21:05

Upthread @Puffalicious recommended Fussy natural deodorant subscription - I have it, and it's reasonably good, but I prefer Wild - the pack is smaller, metal not plastic, and better fragrances.

Sustainable Natural Deodorant That Works | Wild Natural Deodorant – Wild UK

Go Wild for a plastic-free natural deodorant that's kind to your skin and the environment. 5 great scents. No nasty aluminium, parabens and sulphates. Cruelty-Free.

Thank you @ambitchious and @TallulahG I’ve ordered some of those fingerless gloves for presents (and 1 for me). Cheers.

VouisLuitton · 30/09/2023 18:34

I’ve just ordered one of these for DH: (Ember Smart Mug)

I have been waiting ages for them to go on sale so I’m very happy. Great gift particularly for someone who WFH!

Anyone else getting a “Sorry you’ve been blocked” message off Curry’s when clicking on that link? 😫

I did too

VouisLuitton · 30/09/2023 21:36

@Callipygion yes I’m also getting that message now - just go onto curry’s website and type ember smart mug 2 in. They are selling them for £89.99 instead of £130

Hopefully this one will work!

On thr board game theme - specifically a poster asking about games good for children and adults to play together - DP bought me Santorini a few years ago. It's fantastic, highly recommended and can be made easy/hard depending on players

Some of these ideas sound awful to me. An expensive pair of boxer shorts is such a crap present. They might be expensive but I've never seen anyone get excited for socks/boxer shorts etc.

I get very excited for socks, I love socks. Socks are life.

nopuppiesallowed · 30/09/2023 22:08

@Callipygion
I'm also blocked by Curry's, so don't take it personally 😉

WoollyRosebud · 30/09/2023 22:20

Shakenbutbarelystirred · 30/09/2023 17:32

@WoollyRosebud do the bulbs only flower once? Or does your sister now have dozens of Amaryllises (Amaryyllii?)
I was given one for Christmas and it was lovely, but I am quite stressed as I think the giver is going to expect me to look after it for ever and see it year after year….

I've never got one to flower more than once, nor has my sister. I think the bulbs are treated to make them flower.

Another plant suggestion if you are into those. Paperwhite Daffodils. But them in the autumn, pot them up and they should be flowering by Christmas ready to give as presents.

Jayneisagirlsname · 30/09/2023 22:21

These are wonderful. I wear them when arthritis is bad. I bought some for my Dad as he had a stroke and the affected hand gets really cold. He finds them a godsend.

YorkieTheRabbit · 30/09/2023 22:22

@Needmorelego I’ve just ordered the Lego unicorn for a 🦄 loving 39 year old.

skippy67 · 30/09/2023 22:25

bringonyourwreckingball · 30/09/2023 09:51

Some of these are great, thank you. Just ordered the Lego great wave for dd1, it’s 25% off at John Lewis

£20 cheaper at Argos

YorkieTheRabbit · 30/09/2023 22:29

I bought DP a pair of the fingerless gloves from turtle doves, his hands are always freezing. He really likes them. I since got myself a pair and I’m going to get some for his daughter too, she feels the cold like her dad.

Has anyone seen those stunning "book nook" paper models that sit between the books on your bookshelves. They look like a book until you get closer and see that there is a gorgeous bookshop/florist/ bakery inside.
Tricky to make and they keep my adult DD (who is a total Lego nut) entertained!
They are in posh garden centres and on amazon for around £15.

Needmorelego · 30/09/2023 22:46

@YorkieTheRabbit I hope they like it. It's such a sweet little build 🦄

yes :)

If they're by rolife, they are.. .complicated, i've made a couple and they frustrated the bejeesus out of me, some of it is REALLY fiddly.

I've found these ones by CuteFun much more satisfying to build. You do need a decent quick drying clear glue though!

Susie Dent’s books for any English lovers- they’re kind of like dictionaries that give beautiful detail, also the scrabble dictionary (would you know I worked in a book shop!), also photo books of special photos. Also Risk!

Anyone planning on buying from Turtle Doves, there’s 30% off everything at the moment. Received an email from them today and I’ve ordered the gloves I wanted for my step daughter.
