Christmas breakfast

Starting to plan/write a list of the big food shop so I can spread the cost.
Always thought what my parents did for us growing up was what everyone did until a colleague said they have a full english xmas morning! (HOW?!)

Anyway, it got me thinking. Apart from the obligatory bucks fizz, what do you all eat for breakfast on Xmas day?
Will be 4 adults, 2 children (7years and 7 months) if that makes a difference!

Scrambled egg with smoked salmon

Desecratedcoconut · 10/09/2023 15:50

Bacon sandwiches, stocking chocolate, Bucks Fizz. Easy pleased in this house.

SevenOhOne · 10/09/2023 15:51

We just have a normal breakfast, probably eggs or muesli or Greek yoghurt. It’s the one day of the year I really don’t want anything very heavy or filling and I hate bucks fizz, two nice drinks spoiled.

Sorry not a very helpful post.

This sounds pretty epic to be fair.

Black velvet in a chilled tankard ( put in freezer overnight) and chocolates. Likely be on my own this Christmas, but I’m still looking forward to my morning Guinness and champagne in the chilled tankard.

MidnightOnceMore · 10/09/2023 15:54

We have a big continental breakfast, got a keen baker in our house. Nothing hot (other than warming pastries) so it is all made the day before.

Isthisblocked · 10/09/2023 15:55

😂😂😂 @SevenOhOne my daughter-in-law, considers a black velvet to be a desecration of perfectly good Guinness and champagne…. And she does agree with you about Bucks Fizz as well.

Escalateandcreate · 10/09/2023 15:56

Bacon rolls, chocolate and champagne here.

ChicagoBears · 10/09/2023 15:56

This year we’ve got all of the family coming over so we’ll probably do a few things that people can pick, thinking:

  • eggs benedict
  • smoked salmon blini’s
  • pancakes with a homemade berry compote
  • overnight oats

people can have a little bit of everything that way.

UndercoverCop · 10/09/2023 15:58

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast with proper butter, champagne. DS has orange juice

TogetherWeLearn · 10/09/2023 16:01

Warmed Pastries
possibly half a pink grapefruit each
pigs in blankets to nibble on

Sometimes have done a brunch of smoked salmon & cream cheese bagels

Comedycook · 10/09/2023 16:10

I'm not doing more cooking...they can eat a selection box for breakfast.

Dontcallmescarface · 10/09/2023 16:19

Birthday cake.

whatsappdoc · 10/09/2023 16:20

Big fry up is on Boxing Day so Christmas morning is shots or Jammy Dodgers (Chambord and cream) with pastries and snack selection left over from previous evening. This keeps us going until 3.00pm.

BlairWaldorfOG · 10/09/2023 16:20

Ferrero Rocher

caerdydd12 · 10/09/2023 16:21

Pastries, fruit juice, pancakes.
No bucks fizz here.

MyShmoo · 10/09/2023 16:22

Weve done different things each year (mainly influenced by a previous thread on here that I pinched ideas from 😂)

Homemade sausage mcmuffins (sausage patties in English muffins topped with cheese - egg optional lol)

Frozen pastries (pain au chocolates, cinnamon swirls etc)

Ham and cheese croissants

Eggs Benedict

The mcmuffins were the kids favourites of the bunch and took minimal effort so we will probably go with that again this year

RabbitsRock · 10/09/2023 16:23

Smoked salmon & creamcheese bagels

BabyMoonPie · 10/09/2023 16:24

It was always crumpets but last year Aldi did a Christmas tree shaped brioche which was delicious so hopefully they do that again. We eat our big Christmas roast about 2 so breakfast is light

Lyricallie · 10/09/2023 16:25

Our go to is rolls and square sausage or egg with tattie scones. Which tbh is what we always have after church. It’s quick and by the time we get back from mass we are a bit go go go getting things ready before the extended family arrive.

Isthiscorrect · 10/09/2023 16:27

Kedgeree. But that's for me because they don't like it. 🤷‍♀️ so they get salmon bagels or bacon sandwiches. I try for bagels as it's less washing up whilst prepping for the big meal.
Dinner about 4pm.

Pleasenowthatsenough · 10/09/2023 16:29

I have a yearning for those well known plasticky cinnamon bagels that I last had many, many years ago and keep telling myself would be great for Xmas morning, toasted with salted butter and marmalade - I will probably regret it 😄

BeyondMyWits · 10/09/2023 16:30

Jus roll cinnamon swirls, makes the whole house smell of Christmas, with mugs of tea. Have worked out what we like over the years and it is having a lie in, a mug of tea and something light that makes the house smell nice.

Spacemoon · 10/09/2023 16:32

Bacon sandwiches in this house. Always cooked by my DH. Bucks fizz is a must. Orange juice or hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows for the kids.

ShowOfHands · 10/09/2023 16:34

We're teetotal so no alcohol here. I don't know anybody who has bucks fizz tbh.

We take it in turns to choose. It has been all sorts in the past from freshly baked Nigella's Winter Muffins with salted butter to breakfast burritos. We've also had a full English, continental, American cereals, fancy porridge. No idea what we will have this year. It's DS's turn to choose.
