Christmas breakfast

Starting to plan/write a list of the big food shop so I can spread the cost.
Always thought what my parents did for us growing up was what everyone did until a colleague said they have a full english xmas morning! (HOW?!)

Anyway, it got me thinking. Apart from the obligatory bucks fizz, what do you all eat for breakfast on Xmas day?
Will be 4 adults, 2 children (7years and 7 months) if that makes a difference!

Buttered slices of toasted marzipan stollen, pastries and prosseco with pomegranate juice.

WonderingWanda · 10/09/2023 19:20

I love an almond croissant and have just discovered a gluten free bakery to get some delivered for dh. No bucks fizz as we normally drive to relatives but plenty of chocolates.

Sammilouwho · 10/09/2023 19:31

A selection box, and if I'm still hungry then any leftover tree chocolate 😂

WestendVBroadway · 10/09/2023 20:05

Re Guyanese Garlic Pork, I forgot to mention it is normally served with fried bread( cooked in left over pork liquor) slices of Edam cheese and a glass of gin.

This is making my mouth water! I might have to try this before Christmas.

We have the big Christmas lunch about 1pm so have a small breakfast which doesn't involve much cooking. Nice sourdough toast with real butter and fancy marmalade, nice coffee and the kids have fruit juice and those selection pack cereals.

DaftyLass · 10/09/2023 20:52

Pulla (Finnish coffee bread) , coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and grapefruit

SwirlyShirly · 10/09/2023 20:52

Pain au chocolate or a croissant with strawberry jam and a nice cup of tea shortly followed by fucks bizz.

WAASOAR · 10/09/2023 20:55

We have either a Nutella filled croissant or a bacon sandwich with orange juice for the DC and for the adults coffee with a big drop of Baileys.

EggInANest · 10/09/2023 20:56

Coffee, panetonne, clementines

BotanicalNames · 10/09/2023 22:28

We do croissants, smoked salmon and fizz/coffee, that's what my parents did too :)

Bacon sandwiches, stocking chocolate, Bucks Fizz. Easy pleased in this house.

This! Just the one glass of Buck's Fizz for me though, as I'm the designated driver to get us to & from our Christmas Dinner.

RedVanYellowVan · 10/09/2023 22:33

Satsumas and chocolate here when the DC were small, picked at while opening presents.

TBH it never occurred to me to organise anything different to a normal breakfast. Perhaps I should have done!

memote · 10/09/2023 22:35

bagels cream cheese with smoked salmon with fresh juice & buck's fizz. Chocolate too.

Boxing day is a big fry up.

Sucette · 10/09/2023 22:39

Chocolate

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 10/09/2023 22:48

Tea and toast for me, the kids will get whatever they want when they get up. Never fancied a glass of wine instead of tea.

SussexLass87 · 10/09/2023 22:48

We give the kids one of mini boxes of Kellogs cereal, then whilst they're tucking into that we chuck some frozen part baked pastries into the oven. Coffee, juices and (the ultimate treat in the kid's eyes)...they get to eat some chocolate coins from their stocking! :-)

AxolotlEars · 10/09/2023 22:59

Porridge topped with soft brown sugar and cream!

FusionChefGeoff · 10/09/2023 23:07

Frozen "bake on the day" pastries that I get from Cook at a fancy garden centre. Strawberries and melon.

LuckyNumber6 · 11/09/2023 05:51

2 adults and 6 kids here so I do a big picky breakfast. I always get the mini frozen pastries from M&S, lots of fruit for them to help themselves, fresh juice and mini boxes of cereal. Basically a continental for them to help themselves to and keep them going until Christmas dinner…. And a vat of coffee for me 🥱😂

TheClitterati · 11/09/2023 06:11

Smoothies, chocolate & coffee

YuliaJollyberry · 11/09/2023 06:20

A slice of toast with butter and rose petal jam with a proper coffee from the machine. Then later for my hobbit’s breakfast a choice of Nigellas muffins, overload your own blini platter, tinned fruit salad (with muesli, cereal, yoghurt as desired), devilled eggs though I think I’ll not do those this year. To drink there is champagne, fizzy water, jug of orange juice, cafetière of coffee, flask of tea. Choc coins, choc orange from stockings.

All older now, it used to be egg mayo/cheese/spread festive shaped sandwiches, bite size fairy or carrot cake, tinned fruit salad with yoghurt/cereal topping and the stocking chocolate. Flavoured milk and iced water to drink.

Broodywuz · 11/09/2023 06:27

Christmas shapped crumpets and Nutella
Fruit platter of melon and berries
Scrambled egg
Smoked salmon and cream cheese
Little Sausages
Bacon
Bagels and croissants
And bucks fizz

All laid out on the table for everyone to have whatever they fancy. Have it around 9.30am after kids have opened santa gifts. DH and I have a big mug of tea/coffee while kids open santa gifts

ILoveGroot · 11/09/2023 07:15

Ours varies year to year...

We always have tea and leubkuchen in bed when opening our stockings.

Then breakfast can be any of the following:

Christmas Krispy Kreme doughnuts
Porridge with christmas jam and cream
Egg and ham muffins with home made chilli jam
Sausage, egg and hash brown wraps
Nice toast and jam
Mini pastries
Bread pudding made with mince meat
American cereals (for DS)
Home made stollen

Phos · 11/09/2023 07:17

Bacon butties is our usual. And definitely Bucks Fizz
