Thanks @snowmanshoes for the title!

Hello everyone, so nice to see you all. Pull up a chair, have a mince pie and a peppermint latte and share your Christmas bargains and ideas. In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

A massive thank you to those who have contributed and/or run the prequel threads this year. I can't believe it's another year! I started these when DD was a baby and she's just gone into Year 8!

I've just been searching for some hi-vis running stuff now evenings are getting darker and have come across a website called ProViz who have a sale on. All sorts of kit all of which have reflectors in some shape or form. Some of it is serious sports kit, some of it is just every day stuff like a school rucksack or a bobble hat. Quite a lot of it is discounted at the moment so might be worth a look if you've got any one who likes or needs kit. I haven't bought anything from them yet so can't vouch for the quality.

Amazon have Bluey Advent calendars for £10 odd with 5% off. It includes 24 figures and looks pretty good.

Searching
if you click on the top right of your screen
settings/more settings/talk settings and then it says something about posts per page, click ALL
Then you can just do the usual page search on your phone (at the bottom of my screen it’s the square with the upward arrow)

RJnomore1 · 16/09/2023 09:45

My valente order just arrived. The free bits are lovely but I was also tempted by a half price gift box at £19,95 which I thought would be a nice start for mil.

well it’s beautiful…and it smells amazing… I think it’s a diffuser, candle and room spray. She may not get it…

Ooo love this, could be a winner for my youngest!

Famousthehero · 16/09/2023 10:23

my glossyboxes have arrived! I’m not sure whether to tear them open or save for my bday in a few weeks.
they are labelled but things like ‘December variation 3.4’ so not sure which of the 4 options they would relate to

Which little tablets were those?

I posted the screenshot again on page 29. Think they are currently £8.99 for 2 from Amazon.

I would be careful with this, sorry. There is p&p of £2.99, plus it is not official merchandise, and many of the figures look like cut and pastes of actual toys. If you look carefully at the pictures then you will see there are some oddities with the graphics - with the family figure it is duplicated or shadowed in a way that makes it seem like it could be a cardboard cutout. It also doesn't list what the figures are made of, and doesn't describe it as bluey figures, just "based on anime characters".

hby9628 · 16/09/2023 10:31

@Nightsku exciting! Mine are on their way

hby9628 · 16/09/2023 10:32

@RJnomore1 which fragrance did you go for? Can you post a pic. Wondering about one for my SIL.

Famousthehero · 16/09/2023 10:37

I immediately caved, here are october variation 7 in the fancy box and September variation 6. The boxes inside can easily be opened and fiddled with, they’re really nicely presented.
happy with these 2, october seems light compared to all the stuff in the sept box but then I don’t really know about what they’re worth.
Amused by the ‘styling brow soap’

@Famousthehero looks a decent haul. I really want the eye warming mask I've been wanting to try one of those for ages.

Famousthehero · 16/09/2023 10:42

And here’s the next 2. December 3.4 in the tin and august in the pink box.
for £5 each I’m happy with all of these. Going to pack them away now and enjoy a proper mooch through on my bday I think

Not desperately Christmassy but currently Disney+ is available for 3 months for £3 of clubcard vouchers if you fancy getting some Christmas classics on.

Clucket87 · 16/09/2023 12:19

Just in case you haven't seen it all over the place, 100 sleeps until Christmas 🎄🤶🎁💝 (I'm a little excited) xx

Thelifeofawife · 16/09/2023 12:31

I’m so glad I ordered the glossy boxes now! I was worried with some saying not wanting to open as it will ruin the presentation, but now I can see there’s another box inside, thanks to @Famousthehero for posting pics!

Athlebad · 16/09/2023 12:36

Hmmm... sounds like I wasn't on it enough with my choice! Did yours come vacuum packed? I can't decide whether to open the adult sized one I bought or just send it back ...

happytobemrsg · 16/09/2023 12:40

I’m desperate for ideas for my 7.5 year old DS. He is obsessed with coding but also likes Mario. He already has all the tech he can possibly need (Switch, laptop etc). I noted there are 2 new Mario switch games later out this year so I’ll get those. Literally no other ideas! Please help!

Athlebad · 16/09/2023 12:48

That was supposed to be a reply to @Hickry

SpoilerFree · 16/09/2023 13:16

@happytobemrsg What about a robot for kiddo to code instructions for? You can buy commercial ones aimed at kids but if you want more DIY out of it a Raspberry Pi kit would also work.

happytobemrsg · 16/09/2023 13:32

@SpoilerFree we had a raspberry pi before & he got frustrated with the internet browser so we ended up with a regular laptop. I’ve floated the idea of a coding robot before but it’s not overly enthusiastic. He’s so difficult to buy for!

Simd1 · 16/09/2023 13:44

Have you looked at the Turing Tumble? It's quite expensive but it teaches the principles behind coding using marbles. Very clever toy.
